@@jerrywelch1370 agree, Sierra TGK for me too. The Bergers are made to fragment after about 4” of penetration, so any shot into heavy muscle or bone might not work too well, or just destroy a lot of good meat at the least.

yeah, a heavy bullet means nothing if it either passes right through the animal without dumping its energy or blows up on a bone. Match bullets are good for varmints, not for medium game.
You should try a penetration and expansion test with the top 3 ammo's. As you already know that not all accurate bullets expand well for hunting! Gallon jugs of water is the most aggravating but cheap and effective!
ELD-X is what I would hunt with. ELD - extremely low drag, X - expanding. They have great, consistent, expansion at any distance. Designed to be a accurate hunting cartridge. I have faith in them! The SST is really good also.
I bought that rifle because of this video! Looks like the Berger or Sierra for sure. I held an MOA with the Hornady in a five shot group. I just got 100 rounds of new brass and a few different types of bullets. I'll be making up some ladder loads soon. I'm pretty sure I can match or beat any factory ammo. Thanks for making me buy another bing bang!!!
I would say that the Sierra Gameking is the winner but the Berger's are a veryyyyy close second. I have a Savage mod 12 LRPV in 223 rem and it really likes the 69gr Sierra Match King and I am looking forward to giving some Berger's a ride in it. Thanks for the great video.
You are making some impressive video's. Suggestion for a future video. Get 5 or 6 different rifles same caliber and a number of types of ammo like you have in this video. The idea behind this idea is to prove that what might be junk ammo in 1 rifle may not be in another. Thanks for all the amazing video's
My dad has always been a big fan of Remington bullets and he used them religiously in his Enfield .303 he had, which he has since passed on to me. That having been said, my 6.5 Creedmoor, which is a Bergara B14 Ridge, fires best with Federal Fusion ammunition. Not exactly the most expensive out there. It’s like Eastwood says, “Every gun sings its own tune.” I’m sure that Core Lokt works perfectly fine in a lot of weapons. It definitely shoots beautifully through my .303. Those groups were awesome btw. I would like to see you hunt with those Sig cartridges myself. I’ve never seen how they actually function but I’ve heard good things. Thanks for an awesome video
I would absolutely go with the Sierra Gamechangers. I run them out of my Winchester Model 70 Carbine in 243 and they shoot and perform fantastic. They hit deer like lightning, that's for sure!
Hey Hooty A bullet test just like the last one, which I really enjoyed, with as many monolithic, all copper bullets would be greatly appreciated by this Alberta Hunter. Thanks for the great information.
I am a berger freak. I use the classic hunter or the VLD hunters and they are wonderful. I also use the Sierra game kings in my 243, they shoot great and work really well.
Enjoyed the video. I just got my Leupold mounted to my Ruger American 6mm Creedmoor. Going out Sunday to sight it in. I got the 105g Hornady black to start with.
Go with the Core Lokt so that if they miss they can blame it on the ammo. 😋 Seriously, I would go with either Sig or Sierra on deer sized game. Bigger than that I'd want an ABLR, Partition or TTSX handload.
Wow what’s up buddy ! My favorite caliber ! You got yourself a real dilemma ,But rest assured either one of those bullets will crush even the biggest whitetail. I know I shoot a bunch of both . It’s pretty bad bad when it comes down to price and what’s available because some of the factory stuff is pretty nice . Great test and good shooting .
I have this exact same rifle. I handload Hornady 103gr ELDX with H-4350 with great results. Hornady had a large part in the design for this round and are my top pick.
I liked the sig rounds in 30-06. Bullets seemed to open up nice and decent penetration. Never recovered one on the 2 deer I shot with it. But they piled up where they stood.
I use the sierras 100g in my .243 in South Carolina for whitetail deer and i have no problem dropping them at 250 yards. These bullets expand really well upon impact and thats what you want for a good hunting round.
I would play with the Hornaday Gmx a little more. I like hyper shock "speed" and I believe that they will penetrate as far if not farther than any of them because of the construction of the bullet. Generally 90 or 95% weight retention.
I was rooting for the GMX too, that 90 gr has got to be screaming, and the copper will probably penetrate more than the heavier slugs. Remember, the long heavies are made to expand at very long range, whereas most deer are taken at 100 yds or under, I’d say the vast majority under 150 yds. The Barnes/GMX alloy bullets will survive the high velocity impact better than anything not bonded.
I have 2 predators and 1 Ruger precision rifle chambered in 6mm Creedmoor. I shoot the 108 grain eld match ammo in all 3. For some reason I don't see much 6mm Creedmoor ammo in the stores. 1 store has 1 box of that Sierra stuff for $50. It has sat there since the store started selling guns and ammo. It was still there the other day, too pricey for me. The gun shop where I do must of my business has 108 grain eld's for $39 a box, that's why I shoot the 108. I also reload the 108's exclusively for the 6mm Creedmoor and I absolutely love the round. I really need to get them back to the range!
Time to take the boy to the range with them three best ammo groupers and see how they perform with him behind the trigger, just to see if he will agree with you👍
Sierra’s or Burgers you can’t go wrong. However as a match shooter I can say that loads with more recoil/powder will open up groups. Especially when combined with a dead stop gun rest as the barrel will wip more. Sierra and Berger loads do a better job of balancing recoil vs bullet weight. I would use the Remington for short range brush hunting.
Try reloading some 85 grain nosler portions. Use them in my ol 243. Get expansion plus penetration if the kiddos are a little off and hit to much shoulder
I picked up some of that Sig stuff for my 260 Rem. (130 gr.) a while back. Mainly because it was all that was available at the time. To my surprise, it is some of the best shooting factory ammo for that rifle (Savage Apex Hunter)..........so far. Shot just a shade under 3/4 MOA with those. I have to say, I've always been on the fence about picking up a 6mm Creedmoor given I already have a 243 and a 6mm Rem. They are both tack drivers with my reloads in the 70-90 grain range, but open up with 100 grain projectiles. I'm guessing the 1:10 twists have something to do with that. This video has helped me make up mind to start building a 6mm Creedmoor so I can fling those 103gr. ELD-X's at some White Tail or Pronghorn at some longer ranges.
Not sure I understand the logic behind putting the eldx in the good pile and the better performing gmx in the bad pile? I know, you’re doing on the fly, it’s no big deal. 😜 Thanks for what you do!

I had excellent results with 130gr Sierra TGK bullets for reloading in .264. Although I understand you primarily test readily available factory ammo, but I would love to see more Nosler or Barnes as they do produce quality results as well in terms of putting meat in the freezer. I'm now wondering about the 6mm though, this exact rifle is sitting on the shelf @ a store here. wonder if with the right reload it would be good for Caribou
Fancy shooting as always. Hunting whitetail, I'd go with the ELD-X or the tipped Sierra Game King. I rarely take shots past 200 yards and the ELD-X have proven accurate in my CZ. My rifle really likes the ELD Match. Wouldn't be my first choice for deer, but they will work. Anything bigger than whitetail, I'd probably go for the GMX or CX. Should stay together better and give more penetration. Of course, I'd step up to a 7mm-08 or 270 but among the offerings in this video, the GMX would probably have the most penetration. I like the Hornady Whitetail Interlock for a budget 6.5 choice but they don't offer it in 6mm Creed yet.
Which to hunt with? That depends on the bullets, match bullets are not hunting bullets the sierra’s and Bergers if are hunting bullets also the Sigs, I think you need to shoot another round between those 3 groups and research the projectiles
Own this same rifle, put it in a Boyd’s at 1 stock and bedded it. This rifle consistently shoots 95 Berger loads at .75 moa and 80 grain Barnes ttsx loads at .5-.75 moa. All 5 shot groups at 100. Embarrassing part is the factory 87 vmax load from Hornady shoots 1/4-1/2 moa! Makes my loads look like crap. Anyways, 549 for gun, 259 for stock and this rifle shoots better than rifles costing 2-3 times as much. Can’t find a thing I don’t like about it, maybe put a bigger knob on the bolt? I have almost 2500 rounds down the barrel and that is all I would change. One of the best rifles produced in my opinion
For one of ur next up coming videos u need to do a build. Pick one of ur savage axis, Ruger or anyone u can get a profit barrel preferably a savage so u can do it urself . That would b a good video .
My vote is for the Sierra's - that close of a group is not worth the price of those Berger boolots!!!! Also, the Sierra is a proven deer hunting boolot.
So many people use hornady, but I just don't see the appeal. I bought a box of factory berger 140s and shot a .25" group at 100yds out of my tikka upr. Incredible ammo.
Not to say that the Berger’s won’t work, I have used the 185 gr Hybrid Hunter out of my 300 WSM, but the Sierra Gamekings are a better hunting bullet. Bergers just go into the deer 🦌 and fragment everywhere, not exiting the deer. My Dad has taken multiple deer, mostly does and a couple small bucks with the lead tipped 100 grain Sierra Gamekings. They work great. I like the expansion test video idea.
me personally i don,t criticize any bullets but sierra is what i judge other bullets by i have loaded them for over 40 years with good accuracy always and good performance on game i have strayed a lot from sierra but i always go back
I would go with the Sierras they are the best hunting bullet. The Berger's are a long range target round they might not preform on game the way they should. Might have to test the 2 on ballistic gel to really see how they perform
I'd pick the Sierra's and never look back. I'm not sold on Berger bullets in hunting applications. For shooting matches sure. But when it comes to hunting, I was a bullet designed with hunting in mind.
Gotta go with Sierra, for two reasons; where I am here in Canada they are $20 cheaper and in stock! The Bergers have not been in stock since McDonalds started using "real beef"....... if ya catch my drift :-)
Any are good for whitetail out to 200 or so. But if you are chosing between the Sieara & Berger I would go Sieara. Even if the Berger is a bit more precise, I am not sure about the hunting performance of that particular bullet. Berger is quality & consistency. For long range paper punching or match or steel Berger all day long. Thank you.
I’m wanting to get one of these 6mm rugers to use for long range targets and deer hunting. I know you hunted with it in one video. Do you think it’s a big enough projectile for Alabama whitetail 200 yards and closer? I know it will drop them. I’m worried about penetration and blood trails. I hunt really thick areas and if they don’t bleed it’s nearly impossible to find them.
It would probably get the best penetration with a good bonded, partition or copper bullet. I hunt the same kind of areas in Fla., same conditions, I want an exit too! I would go with a 90 or 100 gr. Barnes TTSX, 100 gr. Nosler Partition, or 100 gr. Trophy Bonded.
Talke all of these and shoot them again and see what the results are. You had some “Mirage” while shooting these groups and that can cause vertical groups. Good shooting.
I like those green tips too! I think you should take the Sierras hunting!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲 Romans 3:23-25 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
Both groups are very good, but the Berger group was high, and the Sierra group was much closer to the actual POI you were aiming at... Sierra for the WINner, winner, chicken dinner!!!
Honestly, either the Berger or Sierra rounds will work fine. However, I believe that the Sierra's will be better, especially on whitetail deer sized game. Good luck and stay safe!!! 😉😉😉
That superformance gmx is the best big game bullet buy far and will out penetrate all those other bullets by far! Also being copper it won’t contaminate your meat with lead!
I would love to see the same ammo (the ones you put in the winner circle) shot to compare terminal performance. Trying to figure out what I want to use on deer. I killed 2 this season with Hunter Precision ELD-X 103 gr. which I like. BUT while the 8 pt only ran 40 yds and the big doe never took a step, I was disappointed to have no blood trail and only tiny exit wounds for both. I know this is partially because I went to the high shoulder brachial plexus shot! But I wonder if one of those that you put in the excellent grouping category, would create a better exit wound than the ELD-X 103 gr, or if I should switch to a CX (monolithic bullet) maybe???
I'm curious to see if your seekins rifle would do better with some of those rounds. Also imma save up to get you a dang chronograph for these videos. I need more nerdy details
I would say do a runoff between the sierra and Berger and shoot’m again, that would be cool, but I would trend towards Sierra since they have a good track record on the forums

Sierra all the way, Berger is known for accuracy BUT they also have a rep for NOT preforming all that well on game animals...

Measure them.. I bet the Berger's is the tightest group. Btw all I have is Remington Core lok, so no bias. It's close, but Berger, then Sierra.
Nice video! I am a big fan of the Creedmoors. I would really like to see a new hole in AR500 video with all new calibers you have.
I am planning that. Going to take an entire day and cost a ton of money. May wait until it is cooler outside
Sierra or Berger, either one will be great. I would pick the Sierra due to cost.
Well weight will always work plus accurate is as good ! Weight 109gr. 👍👍 another good 1
Definitely go with the Berger 109's still has over 1300 ft. lbs. of energy out at 400 yards.
I'd pick the Sierra's and never look back. I'm not sold on Berger bullets in hunting applications. For shooting matches sure. But when it comes to hunting, I was a bullet designed with hunting in mind.
🦌🦌🦌
I think you have to reshoot the Hornady 103 gr Precision Hunter. If you pulled that one shot then you're looking past what's best for your gun.
Thank you.
Sierra or sig is wat I'd use for hunting. Don't think I'd use the bergers for hunting since they are designed for target shooting.
That's what I was thinking as well.
The Sierra and the SIG were hunting bullets though, the Berger are match bullets. Says a lot when you can get great accuracy out of a hunting bullet
I like the burgers I like a heavy round for hunting
Talke all of these and shoot them again and see what the results are. You had some “Mirage” while shooting these groups and that can cause vertical groups. Good shooting.
Go with the Sierra. You're gonna pay regardless, get the best for the boys. Good hunting.
I like those green tips too! I think you should take the Sierras hunting!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
Romans 3:23-25
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
I would go back with the hunter and the green tips Burger bullets are mostly for target
🦌🦌🦌
You should test them for expansion. Maybe a test at 200 also you can check group and drop.
Good idea
That superformance gmx is the best big game bullet buy far and will out penetrate all those other bullets by far! Also being copper it won’t contaminate your meat with lead!
Hi, like the Sierra game king😮
BERGER for sure!
I have never shot a 6mm Creedmoor. Is the recoil comparable to a .243 Winchester or 22.250?
Sierra is the winner
Good ammo review.
Thanks for watching Pete
Try to do a 243 Ammo test
If I haven't already I will
6mm Creedmoor is nothing but a ballistic twin of the .243 Winchester.
Soon
@@WHOTEEWHO I appreciate the fact that you reply also lol. I'll be watching for the next one though 👍
I've used core loct forever in my 22-250 and had good luck...also the brass works when reloading (: lol
Awesome
I would say do a runoff between the sierra and Berger and shoot’m again, that would be cool, but I would trend towards Sierra since they have a good track record on the forums
👍👍
