Have been watching your videos since february, man you blow my mind your passion and enthusiasm is unbelievable, i had heart surgery and when I tried to return to work they made me redundant after 15 years you have made isolation bearable, I am 62 years old and never played an instrument before going to now i am building my own cbg with your wonderful tips and tricks, hopefully i can be 1 fifth as good as you. I will be watching and also like this EBE tuning think i will try it.
Drop Tune Del...yes I agree 100% sounds thicker and rocks out more, as mentioned in a previous episodes, the lower string tension will extend the life of the instrument...and of course, it's the unique Puckett fretboard intonation that allows your playing to blossom and bloom...because if you wanna be a flower...................................... \m/
Your channel is addicting! I admit i used to think of CBGs as trinkets you might buy to hang on your wall maybe, but these things are serious instruments, and deserve the time to explore what I could do with one. I bought a cheap 000 size Recording King Dirty 30s guitar to have a kick'n around guitar at close hand in the living room and it plays and sounds so good that its the first guitar I grab now. These cigar box guitars have unique vintage sound that I think would blend really well with this Recording King in a mix. That version of The Breeze set my mind in motion.

Hi Del, thank you for this video, it's the first of yours I've seen, just found it today (June 5, 2023). I really like the EBE sound over the GDG. As you mentioned it fits these types of guitars, and I really like the blues sound, which EBE makes sound much better.
@@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar Thanks, Del. I'm picking up my first CBG tomorrow from the gentleman that just made it for me this past week. I'll be watching more of your videos for tips and tricks along the way.

Some guitars just flat-out sound better in EBE. Trouble is, my vocal range can be measured in semitones at best, and EBE is just too low for comfort, so I have to keep some GDGs and AEAs about the place if I need (heaven forfend!) to add vocals to anything. Have to admit though that my bluesiest instrument is a 27” LPG tuned EBE...
Hey Del. This is a great video and I am all in on EBe tuning. Yours is also an excellent rendition of the Breeze! I see what you are doing with the simple, but fun, lick at the end of each line, but I'm struggling to see your chord progressions on each line of the song. Can you share the chord progression you used for this version of the Breeze? Thanks from Wisconsin!
it’s your ’basic’ 1 4 5 - open… to the fifth fret barr… back to the open … then to the 7th fret barr … i usually hammer the middle string up two frets for that boogie sound

I lost where you tuned the middle string from D to B. I tried tuning from the 2nd string 5th fret like in the video and then tuning too string to that but it didn’t turn out right.
Your video have inspired me to have a go at building my own cigar box guitar.. I have a question.. What is the difference between the fret board perfectly level with the cigar box top surface and the fret board raised basically resting on the box lid? Is it simply design taste or does it have an actual effect on the finished guitar.. As I'd like to make mine inset into the box and level with the box top surface
Of all your builds this one really sings to me, the Lowe's yard stick, the staining, the box, the sound!! Looks like it fell through a time portal from 1930! Nailed it!! But most of all I expected a short scale to sound banjo like....how wrong am I!!! What scale length is this??
I have a 4 string so I tried e, b, e, Ab and I get string vibration at the bridge on the low string. I am using medium strings 44 34 34 17. I'd say I have a lower action. Also my scale length is 23" I use a tail peace and a floating bridge. My guess is I need to bring the angle down between the bridge and tail peace with like a retainer. I also heard maybe use heavier gauge strings. Do you have any input? It sounded like yours did it a few times in this video also.
what size stings do you use? I broke all mine trying out different combinations and now i have to buy more. I didnt realize you had to put wound stings with wound strings.
