Hello @Lauren! I just found you through your video with The Black Forest family about things Not to do in Germany- 😊. really enjoyed your video! My mother was from Germany ( now Krakow, Poland). Hi Lauren, we went often with our motorhome (Wohnmobil) through Germany. This year we visit some small beautiful villages: Schmalkalden Nördlingen Stade If you search for some places....
Briefly mentioning the real secret: stay longer than a day. Give it a chance to capture you. Lauren, you will not get around visiting the "non-islands": the Halligen. Where you are almost left alone with nature.
That sounds absolutely perfect. I have some wonderful plans for the future, because of this channel, Peter. There´s just so much to experience and share. And yes, I said stay at least three days, because the magic needs time to work. But, oh when it does.... ahhhhh I hope you´re doing well xx
Do you ever go to the North Sea on holiday? I sometimes feel like I´m on a mission to explain why North Germany is so popular with the Germans as a holiday destination. I think that foreigners might turn up and expect to be wowed in a specific way. But the magic of these places lies in the effect they have on you. True “Erholung” - a word that means relaxation, recovery, rejuvenation all in one. That´s what you experience when you stay long enough and open yourself to the unique feeling of an Auszeit - some time out - here on the German insider tip - the East Frisian islands. And on a sober note, here is the link to the documentary (in German) about what happened in 1945: ua-cam.com/video/Du6czTxMy64/v-deo.html

A lot of UA-camrs that I follow are based in the south of Germany and of course it's a wonderful area of Germany, Bavaria and Baden Württemberg are really nice with a wonderful landscape, but that's not all. Germany offer's so much more and I try to recommend the northern parts of Germany, because the people there are totally different. The language is different, the culture is a bit different and also the food and beverages. It's hard to compare, but important to make that experience to understand Germany a a lot better. I'm a huge fan of Germany's islands at all and The Frisians have a unique tea culture in Germany.
I‘m lucky enough to travel from Bavaria, where I live, to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea often. I totally agree. I feel the North is a place where you need a bit of time to let the magic work and I constantly recommend people try to visit to get the whole German experience.
I think, you got irt a bit wrong: There are 2 types of Germans:One kind, who loves spending their holidays at the seaside, the other one likes the mountains and travels the alps, mostly to Bavarian.

Hello @Lauren! I just found you through your video with The Black Forest family about things Not to do in Germany- 😊. really enjoyed your video! My mother was from Germany ( now Krakow, Poland). She shared she loved going to these islands as a young girl before WW II. These beautiful islands are similar to our 40 miles of protected pristine beaches & National Seashore land in Massachusetts, USA. My family lived close to National Seashore on an area called Cape Cod. I think you would enjoy it- Subscribed & enjoying your Special videos!! Sibella, aus Boston, USA.
Hello Sibylle! You answered something I always wanted to know- if there are similarities between our coast here and in the US, thank you! How wonderful to imagine your mother visiting the islands back then. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I’m so glad you found me! Best wishes from Germany!
Lovely video. I have to admit, I have never been to Wangerooge. I am fortunate to live in Schleswig-Holstein, so I have a 30 minutes drive to the Baltic Sea and just an hour to the North Sea. But your video was so beautiful, perhaps I will visit Wangerooge next year when I am visiting friends in Wilhelmshaven.
Oh wow, a wonderful place to live! BTW, there is a great Vietnamese restaurant in Wilhelmshaven. I also have videos on Juist, Baltrum and Norderney - so you could give yourself the Qual der Wahl! And Rügen and Föhr -I love the sea!
Another great video Lauren :)I saw your puppy first thing :). I love trains and you went through so beautiful areas. The Island and Wangerooge look wonderful. The nice beach as well. Burgers look great BTW!!! Wat what? Free food? hehehe just kidding lol. I hope that you will see Wangerooge again soon. PS- I will check out more of the history of that tragic time. Thanks for sharing :). PSS- I wish that you would post your concert schedule as I would love to attend oneday :).
We‘ll be sure to make that happen, Darion! And actually you just reminded me that Wangeooge engaged us today again! We‘ll be there next year. I enjoyed making this video so much and I‘m super happy you had a chance to watch it 🤗
@@LaureninGermany I am happy I saw this video as well. FOr some unknown reason, I did not see the notifications for your last three videos. I am in makeup mode lol.
I haven´t been getting notifications, Darion! It´s lovely that you´re catching up, I really appreciate it!
@@LaureninGermany You as well? You are very welcome :). Have a great week-end. PS- Are you performing this week- end?
Hi Lauren,
we went often with our motorhome (Wohnmobil) through Germany. This year we visit some small beautiful villages:
Schmalkalden
Nördlingen
Stade
If you search for some places....
Ah! I am planning on travelling like this from next Spring onwards. I know Nördlingen- it’s lovely. But the other two, I don’t know yet, thank you!
But, oh when it does.... ahhhhh
I hope you´re doing well xx
Just spoke to my best friend who is on holiday up north and went on a Wattwanderung to Baltrum with her dogs today!
So this video makes me feel like I got to share in her trip a bit!
@@sisuguillam5109 hello Sisu!! I also love Baltrum - you must go if you can. I have never done a Wattwanderung. I‘m a Landratte! I hope you‘re staying cool 🤗😘
@@LaureninGermany its still so warm in my little Dachwohnung. 😑
A Wattwanderung would not be m cup of tea either (she was up to her hips in water at one point) but I do need to go to the Nordsee as soon a possible. I could almost smell the salt on the air while watching. 🥰
@@sisuguillam5109 how on earth could we wander the Watt in our long dresses?! I see us in white lace. Do you think that’s appropriate dress for Currywurst?!
Seriously, hip-height muddy water. No. Nein. Auf keinem Fall.
Dachwohnung klingt wie horror gerade eben, aber bestimmt gemütlich im Winter! Eisblock oder gefrorenes in einem Geschirrtuch einwickeln und hinter die Knien legen.
@@LaureninGermany white lace and Watt do not mix. And I would not trust myself eating Currywurst in lace either. We might have to dress in edwardian bathingsuits for the Currywurst-feast.
Nasses Handtuch in den Kniekehlen klingt super!
What amazing narrative gem! You have that skill! Thread the fine line!

I shouldn't binge watch all your videos in one day, but your voice is highly addictive, so... 😄 ❤️
Well, I think it’s wonderful ❤️

Hi Lauren, a nice lovely video. Interesting comments and nice recording. Have a nice time. Claus
Thank you!
Just stumbled over your channel and I do enjoy your videos! And actually, as a German, I even learned something I haven't heard of before... the 'Merksatz' about the order of the East Frisian islands. Thank you!
Thank you! And now I know what it’s called in German: a Merksatz!
6:50 - Currywurst ist richtiges essen! 🤗👍
I had a slightly different version…. I think people don’t notice, and that’s great. Each to his own!

Liebe Lauren, habe Deinen Channel erst heute entdeckt (aber besser spät, als nie!) und bin begeistert! Wundervoll gefilmt und wunderbar kommentiert (by the way, what a stunning voice you have)!

I like how you anticipate what will be happening. But to be fair, you really tried your best to make it happen. 😉
Hi! I have no idea what you mean, sorry!
@@LaureninGermany I‘m talking about the part of the video with the curry wurst where it says „live and let live“ in the subtitle. 🙂
@@Al69BfR ah, no I‘m honestly not trying to make it happen. I don’t promote my lifestyle, that’s not what the channel’s for. But I also don’t think I need to hide it, especially if I am not trying to push my ethics on anyone. I even got irate feedback because I dared drink an alcohol free beer in this video, which I hadn’t thought twice about. People will get their backs up, if they want to, I suppose.
@@LaureninGermany I was just trying to joke around. But now I don‘t know if I‘m as funny as I think I am. 😉
I thought your comment was about seafood vs. curry wurst. But my first thoughts wasn’t about lifestyle choices. And I appreciate that your channel isn‘t about that. I‘m just here to watch your footage and have flashbacks about places where I was on vacation. It‘s almost like a photo album to me with pictures that I’ve lost. And sometimes I‘m just talking nonsense. 😊
@@Al69BfR ah, that’s the internet! It’s so difficult to always be 100% clear in meaning when we‘re typing! I’m really glad if you’re getting nice memories from my travels. I know I love to watch videos for that very reason. (And actually it’s great that you didn’t even notice that I ate the vegan version- which was btw not very good, but at least they tried!)
Lovely as always, Lauren! Thanks for sharing. I can't find the documentary link that you mentioned :(

7940... Okay, nur noch 100.000 mal ansehen, irgendwann muss dieser Kanal doch durch die Decke gehen!

Take your time, it‘s not a waltz? Did I get it right?
I think, you got irt a bit wrong: There are 2 types of Germans:One kind, who loves spending their holidays at the seaside, the other one likes the mountains and travels the alps, mostly to Bavarian.
I suppose I did lump everyone together! I think you‘ve given me an excuse, sorry a reason (!) to go to the Alps…
