I'm glad you gave your option on 3v. I looked at the seeker today and it isn't being offered in 4v. But 3v and magnacut is an option. I'm thinking of putting in an order for one but also thinking about Steve's Stead Fast EDC. I think it might get better use with Steve's due to the little bit larger size. I'm afraid the seeker may be a little small for me but I love how it looks tho. Also, I really wish Spyderco would put out the Native 5 in K390. I have the orginal Native that was sold at Walmart when they first came out. Wanting the 5 but in a premium steel. Thanks for the video Erica. You're the best and we love you gals.
Lmaooooo.....❤❤❤❤ fantastic video guys!!!! In just lov3 everything about your channel..... you seriously keep it real and that's what is so dam invigorating!!!!! Don't ever change!!!!!!God bless you Erica!!
Awh HAPPY BIRTHDAY KOVU!! I bet he's one of those older dogs who can sleep through literally ANYTHING!! What a great selection of different knives/steels on the truck bed...the sheer breadth of your steel knowledge is staggering, E!! LOL @ Nickie putting the BGM textured rock micarta in Grandfather's Sweater Corner! THANK YOU NICKIE...that's where it belongs! And you were speaking just fine, E!...your excessive eccentricities are exponentially incredible! This video was exponentially better because Nickie was in it! Black Northface jacket + rose pink G-Shock gets the win today! And I SEE YOU ERICA --> "k390 is the king of all time" hahaha playing those hidden meaning mind games again! You're a GENIUS. The Slater Train is unstoppable! Great video Erica & Nickie!!! ❤
1- Bgm knives mini spade 2-Trm Neutron orange scales. So many good choices but for me those two are my favorites.🤩 thank you Erika & Co fantastic outdoors video
Erica you are a wealth of info! I’m still new to all this so I can’t remember a lot. I’m with Nikki on the Spyderco plastic scales. I want to get a Micarta one for my Delica also I love all the “that’s what she said” lol
I need to get Nicki saying my knife us a "work of art" recorded and somehow attached to a business card. For whatever reason the English accent makes it sound like I really do make fancy works of art 🤣🤣
I couldn't agree more with you Erica about knife steels... but i will say... some of the older steels like you mentioned i still enjoy using...probably because there so easy to keep sharp... but as a knife junkie... I'm sure like everyone....i love experiencing and trying out new steels as well... but i just think every collection needs a variety of steels!!!!and for me if it wasn't for steels like 1095 440c 52100 all the lower grade steels id certainly NEVER appreciate all the super steels in my collection...i guess everyone should have and experience cheaper steels so that way when we get stuff like M4 and magnacut you can truly appreciate the steel..and it helps certainly when knife companies upcharge for better steel....actually using them you get a feel for just how different they are!!
Well......they may just be butter cutters, but their my butter cutters and i still love them, i may develop some kind of complex over all this, i'll go sharpen a knife, that should make me feel better, rock on ladies
It's the E & N show. Good coverage of the steels on the truck bed. Loved the "flintstone comparison" but flint gave an acquaintance his most bad cut. Hope you were "mud" free but 1/2 inch of snow and we have plenty.
I love your show and heard you saying 52100 is not recommended. I heard you saying your doing a huge fixed blade review of different steels I think you should include a Cold Steel fixed blade in 52100 their version is 60 Rockwell hardnesses. Your should get the Hunter or the Survivalist.I think it'll surprise you . If not it'll prove your point but Cold Steel has a good heat treatment. I think you'll see the value in their 52100
I remember when AUS 8 was considered space age stuff, way ahead of 420 HC. Now there’s so many steals leaps and bounds ahead, I can’t help but to laugh.
We don't see eye to eye on a couple of points, but overall, I agree with your views. I've been wanting to get a blade in K390 for a minute now. I have a couple of CPM 20CV blades, and I have one in my pocket as I type this. Along with some S30V. I've been carrying my higher end knives lately, switching them out every other day or so. Good video. Thanks
Right now I am putting the (HIC) Ceramic Spyderco Mule through a workout and so far I am blown away! Get your hands on one and review it! I think you will love it!@@ericasedc
I finally got me some k390 on a PM2. Put a 3000 grit edge @15 degrees. Stropped it with 1 micron Gunny. Now looking forward to pruning some ornamental grasses and shrubs this wkend.
K390, Cruwear, and S90V are at the top of the list for me. I also love O1 and think you are wrong on that one. It is night and day better than 1095. 1095 will chip out on you if run at 59 or above. O1 can be run at 61 to 62 and maintain it's toughness, it is a totally different steel when run hard! The problem is that just about no one runs it hard enough.
@@ericasedc It will depend on the application. On a small belt knife you will be fine at a higher hardness. I have tested 1095 to failure at different hardness levels by battening through wood with knots. I found that at 59 (500 degree temper) there is no chipping or edge rolling. Higher hardness chips and lower harness rolls. This was extreme testing each time until the blade failed.
In my opinion hunting knives should be stainless..there is an American company that should be listening..I’m sure you know who I mean..great review as always!
I am going to try jot down some or all custom knife makers you bought from for checking them up for future reference , just purchased an lt wright small pouter in aebl in black diamond richlite , however i want two knives my design from a custom maker
I've had no problems with 154 cm from Kizer or Civivi the edge retention is pretty good. Same with the corrosion resistance and haven't had no problem sharpening it.
20CV and M390 are chemically equivalent. Wow, someone who finally agrees with me on 154CM. All through the early 2000's I was saying it's basically AUS8 🤢
I have a some Spyderco K390 but have not carried any yet. Was going to carry the Delica that I put the Lynch NW scale kit on but it rides right up in my pocket throughout the day so I’m afraid of loosing it. Are there any other knife makers you or anyone in comments are aware of that are using K390?
Before watching this I was listening to music like joey stylez feat big sav" sugar cane "good song and I say that I was listening to LiteFoot "mychick" another good song
K390, Magnacut and CPM 3V are my faves. I just wish more companies than just Sypderco would use K390, and that they would use it on more than their LW HumpBlade Lockback line (aka XBug up to Police w/ Spydie Hole). One thing I think you should really discuss is the steels that the vast majority of knives are made out of. A1, O1 and 1095 are actually decent steels compared to the crap MOST knives purchased by the vast consuming public. Yes, the crap generic Chinese knives and their predecessors from around the world. I know, I know, you're a bit of a knife/steel snob (how many custom fixed blades do you have?). Consider the random dudette wandering by your channel who is wondering WHY the hell they should consider paying $150 for a Hogue Deka 2 or a Spyderco Endela (BEST HumpBlade Lockback EVER!!), when they can get a folding knife AND a fixed blade Ozark Trail brand from Walmart for under $20.
SLATTTTAAA!!!! NIKKKKKKKIII!!! Ready for a bunch of ya mama jokes, steel talk and grandfather sweater commentary!! This is gonna be great!
You nailed the sweater!!!!

Hey Erica, I like K390, too. If you don't mind a little discoloration it can't be beat.

I want to give CPM D2 a go the properties look great.

This was fun to film.
Yes it was! Thanks for showcasing all the blades whilst I rambled! ❤😂
but i love the flintstone grandpa sweatervest vibe of a natural micarta rocked bgm 😆
ME TOO!😂

Nice collection. I'll use any non-chinese steel if it's done well

I really like K390 and i just recently got a Manix 2 LW in Rex 45 and I really like it.
Those are amazing🎉
Legit just ground out 6 10V blanks tonight basically the same as K390. I love how it cuts and grinds preheat treat.

That would be sweet
