- Ali Day Celebrations 2025 wrap up successfully at the Aligarh Muslim University.
Aligarh, India - February 2, 2025:
The Ali Society of Aligarh Muslim University successfully concluded the Ali Day Celebrations 2025, an annual event dedicated to commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Imam Ali (A.S.). Hosted at Kennedy Auditorium on February 1, the event brought together distinguished scholars, guests, and students to reflect on the wisdom, leadership, and teachings of Imam Ali (A.S.).
Continuing a legacy of over 70 years, the celebrations featured a series of competitions and exhibitions, aimed at fostering intellectual and artistic engagement among students. The Poster Making and Essay Writing Competitions were held on January 24, followed by the Speech Competition on January 27, where participants showcased their talents and creative expressions.

The event began with a soulful recitation of the Holy Quran by Mohammad Akhtar, followed by a heartfelt Islamic poetry recital by Mohammad Zoqain.
The final day, February 1, was marked by a grand celebration and presence of esteemed dignitaries who enriched the gathering with their insights.
🔹 The program commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Mohammed Asghar, Patron of Ali Society, setting the tone for the event.
🔹 Prof.Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, who presided over the occasion, emphasized the transformative power of education. She encouraged students to seek wisdom and draw inspiration from Imam Ali (A.S.), using his teachings as a guiding force in life.
🔹 His Excellency Dr. Iraj Elahi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Republic Of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between Aligarh Muslim University and Imam Ali (A.S.), drawing parallels with the longstanding relationship between India and Iran.
🔹 Honorable MP Mr. Mohamad Haneefa, the Guest of Honour, underscored the relevance of ethical leadership and public service. He urged modern leaders to take inspiration from Imam Ali (A.S.) and prioritize the welfare of their communities.
The guest speakers made the evening even more insightful and memorable with their words of wisdom-
🔹 Prof. Alim Ashraf, Dean of Student Welfare, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad, spoke on Hazrat Ali’s legacy as the first Muslim and a unifying figure, urging for solidarity among communities.
🔹 Mr. Dharamveer Singh Bagga, a social activist from Ambedkar Nagar (Tanda), shared his deep admiration for Imam Ali (A.S.), calling him his hero and role model. He credited his commitment to justice, charity, and social welfare to Imam Ali’s teachings.
🔹 Maulana Syed Mohammad Zaki Sahab, an Islamic scholar from Mumbai, reflected on Imam Ali’s sermons, highlighting his dedication to justice, human rights, and moral leadership.
Thereafter, adding a literary essence to the evening, renowned guest poets presented their heartfelt tributes -
✍ Poet Nayyab Balyawi dedicated an evocative poem to Imam Ali (A.S.).
✍ Poet Waseem Amrohvi recited specially crafted pieces, enriching the celebration with his words.
In the closing session, Prof. Mazhar Abbas, President of Ali Society, extended a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all guests, participants, organizers, and volunteers for their efforts in making the event a great success, which wouldn’t have been possible without the significant contribution of Wasif Husain, Programme Coordinator.
The Ali Society remains dedicated to preserving and spreading the timeless wisdom and values of Imam Ali (A.S.), ensuring his legacy continues to guide and empower the future generations.
