      If you find a good welder he can weld it for you - you can also source it from eBay

    How did you diagnose the problem? How did you know that it was chain tensioner?

      I opened the tappet cover several time before realizing that the plunger was not in the correct orientation _ I compared it to another video of someone adjusting the valve clearance.

      @@burakonthebike2799 Yes this is the exact sound - Your bike sounds worse than my bike - Pretty simple to fix - do not ride it on a long trip because the parts can breakoff and fall into the sump which may be harder to remove - For additional questions about replacement please do not hesitate to message me. Do you know if a 2014 nc750x motor would fit In a 2012 nc700x?

      I’m inclined to believe it’s the same because theses bikes are not like cars where they change all the hardware in the engine.

    I realise this is a fairly old video, but do you remember if you also had performance issues issues at the time? Appearing like the engine misfiring. Revs going up/down whilst just idling?

      sorry for the late reply - yes it was inconsistently firing when idling.

    I'm shocked the tensioner broke. Have you heard of others breaking? There are NC owners with very high mileage and they haven't reported having this happen.

    • @ronfernandes2884
      @ronfernandes2884  Рік тому +2

      yes you’re right - even I wasn’t convinced that it was a broken tensioner at first.
      I’m guessing it may have been me riding it hard.

      @@ronfernandes2884Mine broke around 14800 kilometers (~9200 miles). It didn't break exactly like this, but a little tab broke at the bottom which allowed the tensioner to move and the chain ran sideways on it. Visually it looks like it's made from the same metal/alloy. Expensive repair and this shouldn't happen at all. Disappointed in Honda to be honest.

      Yes the rattle was felt between 700~1500rpm - and quite easy to inspect once you open the valve cover.

    Too bad you didn't record engine sound before and after cam chain tensioner replacement. It'd be helpful for many other NC riders.

  • @sidzephyr2519

    Seems like a very bad design by Honda. For most motorcycles, the cam chain tensioner is EXTERNAL and can be replaced quite easily. This one is INTERNAL to the engine and is a shockingly bad design. Honda should pony up and pay for these cam chain tensioner replacements as it appears to be a metallurgy issue.

    • @ronfernandes2884
      @ronfernandes2884  2 роки тому

      So true. The screw under the thermostat cannot be removed so you would need a slim wrench to get at it until you back off the threads holding the tensioner.
