    I've been to that Hogan in Kayenta. A few years ago my family and I ate breakfast at that Burger King then checked out the Hogan and a drunk guy came over and gave us a tour of it then asked us for money. He said he was born in a Hogan too. But your tour is much better Navajo Grandma! Thank you! I love Navajo culture!

      Thank you so much! I feel like saying, I am back in the saddle again but now the candidates want a recount. I found that I had 241 votes here and there and the election board had tallied my entire votes saying I only had 163 votes in the entire NN. So my voters texted me and they said, "make a grievance and do a recount." Except we all together need to come up with $5K. Ugh. But I will have to have a recount if mine goes through. My voters sent me the proof and I couldn't believe it. So now its not over yet. Goodness!!! Ethel Branchh thinks she was #2 and boy is there dirt flying around about everyone or the top 5 people and they are not good. I never knew some of the things I have heard and I am going to make a video of that hearsay to ruffle some feathers tomorrow. Its naming these candidates out and telling what others are saying about them and they need to fess up. Yadilah. Well Good morning its 1:50am. Gpa took us on a drive to the mountains where we both prayed for all of you my subscribers and we wept as we prayed over all of you. We love you and praying for this crazy NN. Hugs always. Gma

      You are so welcome. It is not plush, but true Mother Earth. Absolutely lovely to sleep in a hogan. The best sleep you will ever have. When I get my $264 Million, I plan to build a ranch house, plant all the yucca, Navajo Tea, veggies that are most important, along a stream of water, then build 3 hogans that I can invite you my subscribers to so you can have your experience our way. Then I would love to cook for you what we eat and you will find this so beautiful, calming and healthy. The end will have Navajo Tacos as that comes from the unhealthy government rations given to us. Our ancestors were vegan and ate extremely healthy foods, veggies, fruit and wild veggies. My Nali use to weep saying all of the goodness of earth was trampled by the ranchers and their cows and horses. It is true. When Navajos herd their sheep they know where the sacred plants and veggies are and always steer clear of these with respect. But they are now all gone. So sad. I pray your planning on a garden. Add volcanic ash and see how organically and healthy they will be. Better than fertilizers. A word for the gardeners of life. Hugs from Navajo Grandma

      In my paternal grandfather's hogan, he arose, got the fire going, washed his face, shaved, grandma mixed the dough, had the potatoes peeled and the coffe and tea were on, my oatmeal was ready to be prepared. We would walk out in the cold cool morning air in the dark, right before the sun came up. Grandma had great timing. He would start praying, it was beautiful as it was cold until he started praying blessing the 4 directions and the sun peaked over and we all felt its warmth, he prayed then blessed my Bizhi and I as we partook of the Pollen. It was beautiful. I woke up this morning in a dream that was so real at that very moment when gpa was waking up, I heard him building the fire and the sound of the wind of the fire going up thru the wood stove pipes and the sparks flying out at the top, hearing my gma mixing the dough, I swear I smelt the coffee on and the Navajo Tea always made for me, etc. Then we walked out to the dark morning and heard gpa praying as the sun crested over and the sudden feeling of warmth was so real. I was home again with gpa and gma. It was so soothing and lovely. I got up so healed and refreshed. I sure miss them and they came and visited me. Thank you for allowing me to share this. Gma

The rest of the candidates want a hand recount. $50 per chapter and there are 110. Not all of the candidates opted for a recount. We shall see. I have been inside the hogan which is at Monument Valley and was wondering how it was organized. Thank you for explaining it ! The way you are explaining the placement of all the stones/shells makes me think a hogan represents a cross (the 4 points) with the circle symbol (the hogan itself). Is there the concept of rebirth/reincarnation in Navajo culture ? Here in Nevada there are many southern Paiute petroglyphs I see across the desert which have that symbol … a cross inside a circle. I wonder if its all related.

    • @NavajoGrandma
      @NavajoGrandma  Рік тому +1

      There is a lot of symbolism in the female and male hogans. The first hogans were built by the Holy People of turquoise, white shell, jet, and abalone shell. The round hogan is symbolic of the sun and its door faces east so that the first thing that a Navajo family sees in the morning is the rising sun, Father Sun, one of the most revered of the Navajo deities. This is only the beginning of so much. Navajo Grandma

So pitiful. You would believe if these folks have such high places of employment they should be smart don't you think. They don't even know how to add. Sorry but this is so frustrating. So now I don't know where all this is going to lead the NN. The leaders chosen as one is an incumbent Nez for Prez 2.0 he calls himself cuz it would be his 2nd term. The other one Buu Nygren is what you call a pedophile. He is said to have molested a young girl who is now 12 and suffering. Hell on earth. Soo these are the two men chosen to lead our Navajo Nation. Michelle, you are right, the same looking dome house but with thatched roof and buildings. The Navajo's lived in the sandy areas, desert. What is in the desert? Sand. Thus they mixed sand, cut or broken dried grass as a mixture to build their hogans and using the timber from far away mountains. Remember when Navajo Grandma teaches you, remember the environment what did the Native Americans in their area have to use, eat and work with? That is why when smudging stuff we have talked about, the Navajo(Dine') use Juniper and their hands to smudge. That is plentiful in the reservations in the southwest. Whereas, the Plains Indians, Sioux, Lakota, etc use White Sage and they wrap their sage etc. They use the eagle feathers to smudge with. Then you go further east the Native Americans use tobacco, why because that is what they grew and used for ceremony. We all have differences, although some swear that tobacco was used in the southwest but you also need to know the Native Americans traveled and traded too. We do not use tobacco until the recent years and I do hate when Navajos say "oh this is what our ancestors used." Hogwash!!! It was because some Native American from back east showed it to them and it looked more holy or whatever you can smoke it, well then they start to use it. Wrong wrong wrong.
