Great interview! Ive been in the OG for three years, my sons have been on them for three years and I’ve been telling everyone to use these. Until they are on your feet you can’t fully appreciate how close to ice they feel. We Can’t wait for the R1s to get delivered!
I've been using the OG O1s for two years now and as others have said, until you try them you don't know what you're missing! I mainly play/ref/coach ice but have been playing inline for the last 2+ years and the OG O1s have been nothing but fantastic. I preordered the R1s and July 2020 can't come soon enough! For those who haven't tried them and are like me who play both ice and inline all year round, go cop you a pair. You. will not regret it!
Bro same! I’ve wanted Marsblades for a while but never got them because they were so expensive when they first came out. I only play ice hockey so the O1’s are all I need. I just preordered them on sale for only $279 and they should be here by August. I’m also excited to try out the new Alkali boot!
I decided to grab the R1's last week. Ill use it for mostly recreational play with a few buddies and on my own for working out. This is my first pair but looking forward to seeing how these feel being on a hi-lo setup for 15 years
@@IcarusX72 sorry yeah forgot about this. They feel amazing. Honestly they rock a little less than I'm guessing most people feel. I'm only 5'6" and 130. I bet ifv you are not built like a teenager it will be even better. So next year I'm going to take out inserts and work em in a little, flex them and see if I can get them feeling a little better. But overall they are amazing
@@aaronmaxim Thanks buddy for the quick reply. I started playing hockey on rollerblades when Hi-Lo's came out. The days when Koho skates and Mission skates just came out. 20 years since I last played a roller hockey tournament or league and want to get back into playing. Thanks so much for the input. I will pick up a pair on R1's and find a matching boot. Have a great one.
Wanted to buy the R1 w/out the wheels or the boot. My gut feeling is that their wheels are going to be just ok and not better than Labeda or Rink Rat. Would you know what type of spacers I would need to get to use with their axle setup?
I'm on their website trying to buy a pair but their website is confusing. The description is confusing. Considering buying the r1 without the boot but not sure the difference btw the indicated wheel types.
I've only played roller and I'm looking to get into ice in the future. Can the o1 frames be easily switched onto another pair of inline skates? I've seen installation videos where a rivet machine is needed. Is this needed for switching the chassis on a current inline skate? Thank you very much in advance!!!
I’m a very good roller player/power skater, who started playing ice around a year ago. Do the ice frames give you that bounce feeling when you crossover on the ice version of the mars blade ice holder? I know this is about the roller chassis, but I have been trying to find this and we’re for months.
If I am a natural ice hockey player who now plays competitive roller hockey. I am way more comfortable on ice skates than roller hockey (especially with stopping and tight turns), so I am wondering if the R1 chassis are going to help me become more comfortable with my skating in roller games, and make it feel more like I am on ice skates instead of roller skates?
That’s exactly what the R1’s are for: competitive inline but with the FMT (Flow Motion Technology) rocker motion for those that want it instead of traditional inlines. If you are transitioning from ice to roller than the R1’s would be a great choice.
Thank you for the video. Marsblade just came out with a new o1 version with alkali boot. Do you think the alkali boot is better or lighter than verbero fmt boot?
Grabbed this off of Hockey Monkey’s website: “Starting with the quarter package, the Revel 2 Roller Hockey Skates are built with Alkali’s new IX Boot. This improved design is incredibly lightweight and features great stiffness that allows for maximum energy transfer within each stride. Furthermore, they are heat-moldable up to nine minutes, allowing for an anatomical, closer to the foot, fit.” www.hockeymonkey.com/alkali-roller-hockey-skates-revel-2-sr.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwnv71BRCOARIsAIkxW9H7mAJCIN66aiCNiUGDdhyVwqif622QejXnGjkbuFzON7JlBqL_1Y0aAmWmEALw_wcB
Hey guys absolutely great, informative video. I only play strictly collegiate ice hockey with True skates. Any insight from anyone on how the Alkali boot plus the O1 chassis is in comparison to the True boot? This would be much better financially for me since it is such a great deal with the preorder.
Are the new o1 with new boots better than the fmt1 with Vebero boots? I’ve not heard good things about the vebero that they’re uncomfortable don’t fit well etc. are the new boots better?
MD Media Getting my first pair of marsblades. Shoe size is 13.5-14 depending on the shoe and I wear a size 12.5 skate. Do I get a size 11.5D for marsblades.
Theres a code in the video "SCHIAVO20" but it doesn't work on the new R1 frame. They are running (i think) half off on the pre sale so still a really good deal!
Nobody can explain why the O1 is better for training. Even Marsblade directly commented saying that the O1 is better for ice hockey, but does not explain why. If both the R1 and O1 have “Flow Motion” then what could possibly make O1 better unless it’s purely because the O1 is heavier, thus better for training.
ellisstate It’s the weight. They each serve a different purpose depending on what type of hockey you play. The O1’s were never really meant to be a skate used for competitive inline but rather a strength training tool for ice hockey players. That’s why Marsblade invented the lighter R1’s to cater to the inline community. If you’re like me and only play ice hockey then get the O1’s. If you play inline only then you want the R1’s. If you play both I would still go with the R1’s since they are the best of both worlds. Just my two cents.
Absolutely - I play in them.. theyre just heavier but all the benefits make up for it.. youll still use less energy in transitions as they feel more natural once you get used to the rocker.
Would I be able to use the R1 frame for off-ice training like the O1 frame ? Because i would prefer the alkali boot to the verbero one (cant get the frame separately, no shops around in Belgium to mount them on a boot)
Fortunately both versions of Marsblades now include an Alkali boot. The R1’s come with the Revel 1 which is top-of-the-line (probably why they’re more expensive). The O1’s come with the Revel 2, second from the top but still really good. The Revel line is brand new and was just released by Alkali earlier this year.
My ? is im mostly going to be on street-concrete-tennis court surfaces. Im not near any type of sport court or inline rink what wheels would you suggest for the surfaces i will be using more of? Will the soft accompanying the R1's work ok or will i not get the full benefit unless i get a more versatile wheel
Concrete would definitely chew up these wheels pretty quickly. I would definitely recommend something harder for that surface. Revision Asplalt or Rink Rat Trickster X

Do the R1s feel like ice skating to you?
Definitely helped clarify the difference between the two!!

Yep definitely need to take them to a shop to be done or check out @thesharpshack on instagram
Can you use the O1 for competitive scrimmages?
You can. I have seen plenty of guys do that.

That is what I’m am trying to get for my son
Yeah I use mine playing in the road all the time. All about the wheels at that point.
hi there, the discount code doesn't work anymore. is it expired?
is it possible to get a discount through your advertisement? ;) i just ordered the FMT 01. may want the R1 with Alkali if i like the FMT 01.

whoops you guys answered it in the video. thanks!
Yeah I think he's been on it for ~8 months or so.
What’s the installation like on the new r1s?
Just a standard frame install. Would need to be done by a pro shop.
Would i be able to actually play in the O1s instead of just using them for training
Absolutely - I play in them.. theyre just heavier but all the benefits make up for it.. youll still use less energy in transitions as they feel more natural once you get used to the rocker.
Chris McKinley I’m curious because I’m only going to be using them for an inline beginners league since I’ve never played roller hockey before

that dudes intro gave no difference other than the purpose they are used for
