It’s all home territory to me. A 2nd great grandfather was the town shepherd in Fairview in 1865 when he was killed by Indians a few miles north of town. My parents were married in the Manti temple in 1940 and my maternal grandparents were service missionaries there in the 1960s. What an astonishing accomplishment it was to for our impoverished ancestors to build that beautiful temple. May it persist into eternity.
I saw the Manti Temple from the South side of the highway, coming North. It was at night. The temple was lit up, and it looked like it was hovering in mid-air. I will never forget it.
My grandmother and I went through the Manti temple when I was a young woman. She showed me the bannisters made by her Grandfather Michealson who was a spinning wheel maker by trade. Also she showed me the windows made by her other Grandfather Christensen. My grandmother did not have her baptism certificate on the day she got married do she had to go down the spiral staircase and be rebaptized then go up them to the sealing room. She said she was married with wet hair. Her grandparents lived in Gunnison.
I have I gift given to Orson Hyde. We believe it was presented to dignitaries at the Manti Temple ground breaking. I won’t say what it is, but I hope to bring it down to Manti and have some questions answered.

This post confirms a story related to me by my great Uncle, Hespert Sevy, when he took me on a tour around the temple. He told me about the rattle snake infestation many years ago. In all the years since, I've never heard or read confirmation of his account.
