- We find the real problem with Chilli that is affecting her performance at work, but will it get her place within fire house 51.
Season 4 Episode 11"The Path Of Destruction"
The city of Chicago prepares for a dangerous tornado. Meanwhile, Hermann returns to 51 after his health scare, but his wife thinks it's too early for him to return. Chili's erratic behavior continues, and she calls out Borelli and almost kills a victim while at a call. Later on, the tornado hits a Chicago neighbourhood. It is Hermann's neighborhood and concern grows for his family's safety. Also, Dawson helps Otis on how to find a date.

Talia Letkeman The thing is their job isn't making coffee or doing data entry in some nice comfy workplace, they work for the Chicago Fire Department where they're being tested mentally, physically and emotionally. If their relationship impedes either of their duties or puts risk to their job and those around them - coworkers or civilians, or anyone - then either one of them, both, or their superior has to step in and stop before something bad happens. Granted I haven't seen the episode yet, but it must have been serious if Jimmy was specifically told he had to end their relationship. Especially given that I believe they do different jobs within the department. The superior has to think about what's best for everyone, it doesn't always end happily.
Another important factor is that it is also his career that he has to think about. He wants to be a firefighter. He has to think of what's best for him too.
If it was the other way around, I'd support Chilli's decision and not think less of her for doing so, definitely wouldn't think of her as less of a woman for making that decision. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices on your pathway to your career (e.g. location, moving houses/countries, ending relationships, etc).
