@Razer Von no it is not. The mod author only gets paid once. After that, everything goes to Bethesda. It also is pretty much dead, because no one there want to do it.
Can't wait to see how many versions of this game they repackage, rebundle and resell for the next 15 years. I pray this game is truly amazing. I really hope it's as good as Skyrim was, seriously on that same level. I want to believe in this company again, but all they've shown me for nearly a decade now is that I shouldn't.
Just don't expect too much. Skyrim was buggy as hell on launch and - while it was epic and a cultural phenomenon - the way the game truly shined was by how endlessly replayable and moddable it was. Replayability and moddability are things that don't start becoming apparent until well into a game's lifecycle. If you want this game to stack up against 10 years of experiences you've had with Skyrim you're always going to be dissapointed. That's all I'm saying - approach it on its own terms.
When people say things like “what games mean to all of us” and “those relationships with out friends” I honestly hope they’re just BSing. Because no one I know actually talks or thinks that way. It just seems so disingenuous. And honestly, if Bethesda doesn’t hit it out of the park with Starfield, no one will trust them to deliver any sort of positive experience with ES6.
I honestly still can't give a shit about this game, all I can think is "damn, we have to wait for this game to ship in ordem for them to BEGIN working on TES6...."
Same, but if this coming out before hand means that TES 6 will be better, I’m okay with that. Because I can imagine that the development team might be burned out making TES games. Remember, you’ve gotta take Bethesda’s passion for the games they create into account, because it is a factor when making a good game.
@@NOVAsteamed Fallout 4 was decent, but it pales in comparison to their other games both story wise and content wise. Playing about a mom/dad looking for their kidnapped son is only entertaining the first time around, but after subsequent playthroughs you start to hate how they force you into this pre-existing character archetype. Bethesda games have never been about playing in somebody else's shoes, somebody else's story. That's why every protagonist is named very ambiguously, like the Nerevarine, Hero of Kvatch, Dragonborn, Lone Wanderer, Vault Dweller, etc. What's the point of calling the MC the Sole Survivor if it's canon that his name will either be Nate or Nora and you have to play as a prewar ex-military character looking for their son? It feels like it misses the role-playing aspect of a role-playing game.
@@NightmareBlade10 You just hit the nail on the head, my friend! Where I was most disappointed with Fallout 4 was in the story. I felt like my choices had no significant effect on the outcome of missions, the story, or the world. What I want is for Starfield to actually be a real space RPG. Something similar to the Mass Effect games or The Outer Worlds.
Bethesda has been pigeonholing their games into a “specific” story for a while now. Skyrim you are the dragon born, already defined. Fallout 4 you’re searching for your son, fallout 3 you’re searching for your father. I prefer being a nameless prisoner who you define, a general identity that you will specify, as in older Elder Scrolls
@@Jazzadrin I've wondered by Bethesda games seem to be less of an RPG after each release. I think the last actual RPG Bethesda made where your choices mattered was...what, Oblivion?
Imagine this: the ship takes off, you're rocketing through the empty vacuum of space. And you fly through a wormhole in the first 15 minutes of the game and crash land in Tamriel. And then the title credits: "THE ELDER SCROLLS 6: HIGH ROCK" Tell me that wouldn't be the greatest reveal in the history of revelation.
25 years in the making, and only 3 minutes of a teaser to show. The engine looks fantastic, and the teaser shows a lot of detail with the wall writing and other things. But the fact that we can't see any gameplay is concerning, when they already have an ideal release date. It's practically a year and a half from now, but that just shows how much more work needs to be done still. Best of luck to both the team and their game.
Bethesda went from an industry leader with Fallout 3 and Oblivion to joining Ubisoft as being absolutely worthless and predatory to it's fanbases in less than 10 years.
Just like Rockstar. Thank Zenimax and TakeTwo. Those corporations are full of greed and cause the game developers to ruin their games for the sake of money.
@tom gu no its not. Never ever in the history of gaming was a pre-alpha pre-rendered trailer, a real representation of what the game will actually look like. And considering this is Todd we are talking about, my bet is, that the game isn't even in full production and yet he will lie about EVERYTHING from here on.
anyone else feel like this is terribly generic. Like it seems too similar to all the other space games that have been popping up over these last few years.
@@NoStereo For one, the setting. It’s set in our timeline with a twist. They have believable technology founded on what we have available now, with strong ties to NASA and their scrapped Constellation program. Look at the art style. It’s gritty. The character looks like an astronaut with a ship not that far removed from what we have now. Their food are like rations one would see on the actual space station. They call it a “Han Solo” type game where you explore the universe with factions and RPG elements. Space travel is still in its infancy, and is dangerous like “flight in the 40s”. What other game is there like that? No Man’s Sky is not even close to the same type of game. The Outer Worlds has a couple similar elements, but on a much smaller scale: two planets, no real space travel, not much exploration, linear, more fantastical, etc. TOW isn’t a AAA game, and exploration and scale are very limited. They really don’t have many similarities other than being futuristic RPGs not set on Earth. We don’t know much of anything about the story or universe beyond that, so why are we making sweeping claims about what the game is and isn’t? Are Skyrim and Oblivion generic because they take place in a medieval style universe?
@@edwinring8173 Looking at the early promotional material of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, it's pretty obvious that they're striving to be something different. Something that stands out from other franchises in the same genre. This is likely a result of early material that Bethesda essentially outsourced from other developers and writers. In less than 30 seconds, those trailers can wrap you into their worlds. Fallout speaks for itself. TES manages to reel you in almost instantaneously with it's fantastic music, stunning artist elements, and strong narrative "call to action". This teaser lacks any sense of intrigue for me. It's not so much that I have a problem with the space exploration genre(though I gotta admit I'm not a huge fan), and more so that it seems soulless. It seems corporate, as if no risks are being taken. The game could be great, I just hope moving forwards the design elements will start to develop a stronger sense of personality. What you claim is unique in it's "gritty" realist approach is unfortunately the new genre standard, and especially in Hollywood. Really go watch any space movie made in the last ten years and you'll see the same ship, the same space suit, the same de-saturated visuals, and the same over dramatic yet somehow dry music.

At first I was gonna disagree with you saying that it doesn’t answer what the game is but you’re right about the lack of a hook. It needed something big ,cool, interesting or unique to leave its audience excited for something that’s “25 years in the making”.

@Razer Von Fallout 76 exists. You're in denial.
@Razer Von Literally in Fallout 76, and Skyrim, and Fallout 4, through the Creation Club and Workshop DLCs, YOU are delusional.
@Razer Von Are you kidding me? Have you actually read your replies and seen the way you talk to other people? If anyone is delusional here it's probably the one person being highly defensive about anything and everything, so it's definitely you. And I find it funny how you genuinely believe all of that money goes to the mod authors. Keep deluding yourself, delusional person.

And honestly, if Bethesda doesn’t hit it out of the park with Starfield, no one will trust them to deliver any sort of positive experience with ES6.

They're already working on it. Different teams within Bethesda work on different projects.
Same, but if this coming out before hand means that TES 6 will be better, I’m okay with that. Because I can imagine that the development team might be burned out making TES games. Remember, you’ve gotta take Bethesda’s passion for the games they create into account, because it is a factor when making a good game.
I mean you don't have to wait since you don't give a shit you obviously aren't going to get the game.

Nah fallout 4 was good to be honest. It's Fallout 76 that was a major scam.
And then the title credits:

anyone else feel like this is terribly generic. Like it seems too similar to all the other space games that have been popping up over these last few years.
This
What aspects of it are generic??
What aspects of it are unique?
I'll get excited when we see some details and actual gameplay
