Ever since Super Star, the theme's taken a bit of a goofier turn but the original at least TRIED to sound serious and made the intro to Mt. Dedede feel a lot more epic. Kind of makes you wonder how the theme would sound if it kept the serious tone / if that version got a remix that sounds just as epic.
I love how Dedede's experienced so much character development that the pause screen deems it utterly unthinkable that Dedede would ever stoop back down to the level of stealing all the food in Dream Land. He would never, he's too cool now

King Dedede, ah, where do I start with this guy? He is a king to his people and a villain to the citizens of dreamland. At worse, he stole all of the food in dreamland for his own greedy appetite but at his best, he rose up while none of his subjects had the Gaul to do so. Dedede is a hammer wielding fool who uses his sheer strength to enthrall the waddle dees and make devious alliances with some of the strongest in the universe. Although his intellect is limited, his bravery and will are rivaled only by Kirby and meta knight who, may I remind you, are cosmic entities known by the ancient gods as none more than power, nobility, and strength. Because of Dedede’s uncanny ability to get mixed up in every catastrophe to hit dreamland and more likely than not, getting possessed by an ancient evil awakening in the depths of space to achieve universal domination, he has been placed in the role of a villain while he is clearly just a lazy, greedy, cool as hell guy with big dreams and an even bigger appetite. Dedede, In my opinion, is more of a protagonist than Kirby because even after everything, he stands united for his home and his allies all because he believes in them. His selfish nature is nothing compared to the homicidal tendencies of Kirby and the ruthlessness of meta knight. Dedede has an army at his disposal but uses it for far less than a drop of war. He keeps his waddle dees on patrol of dreamland and has been confirmed (in the anime) to feed them better than he feeds himself. Dedede is a humble man who wants no more than to live a peaceful boarish life with endless amounts of delicious food and naps. Just like Kirby. Thank you.
I think that Burning Leo's a pretty cool ally. After all, he does remind me of one of my favorite video game characters. In addition, he was also the first ally character that I played as -- my sister played as Kirby, and I hated it when she would make me change characters. :/
