Wow, Lisa, I love your videos. I am not a native English speaker, but I have no problems understanding and catching every word you, you speak clearly. And thanks for this video, I learned something so important today, and so glad to have across your videos, now I can go a build good content for my business website. LOTS of Love !
+Geoff Kinlen Thanks Geoff, yes! About the only thing that has changed since then is social media. But it's still the same concept. You can use social media to build up your following and then use that as your sales funnel. Yep, same concept just different traffic options. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for the helpful advise. You are soooo right. You can have the best product, but if they don't know YOU, then its an uphill battle. Thanks.
Lisa is righton, another thing to keep in mind, don't try to sell the same stuff everybody else is selling, you will have to sell it so cheap,It won't be worth selling
Thank you! Yeah what's funny is that it's almost 10 years old and yet much of it is still very relevant. The only thing I would add today is you have social media for promotion.
great video. I'm interested in starting an online store but I"m a novice to it all. There's so much stuff out here till I don't know where to begin or what to use.
Much appreciated Lisa. There's that option of creating a store and then advertising... and it works too. But talking credibility and sustainability, I choose content first. It might take a little more time and a lot more effort but hey! that's what it means to build a solid business. Thanks once again for the advice, it's possibly the 4th time I am viewing.
You are fabulous. I am so so so thankful that you exist and you're out there helping people. You have provided me with so much valuable information. You are so genuine and so honest and I really truly appreciate it! Thank you so much!
Thank you Lisa, I was about to make a big mistake. I am an author looking to create an author website and blog using WordPress. At the same time I have some extra books on hand and wanted to sell those and other items online. Thank you so much!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH DEAR. I'M A 71 YEAR OLD LADY WHO IS JUST STARTING AN ON LINE BUSINESS. I CREATE ONE OF A KIND OUTFITS AND WANT TO USE MY CREATIVITY. THIS INFORMATION WAS SO HELPFUL. I DO FIND IT DIFFICULT SOMETIMES UNDERSTANDING SOME OF THE LANGUAGE. BUT, I AM DETERMINED TO GET THIS GOING. I WILL VISIT YOUR SITE, AND HAVE SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR UA-cam CHANNAL PEACE...
+Akosua Tait hey just curious do u have more info on your clothing or do u have a website or a facebook? would like to learn more about it. take care queen
Thanks lisa that is so true thanks for posting and you do have to have content so people can see what you are selling or create a catologe of your products and build a mailing list
I was thinking of starting something online and know the amount of work that will have to go into letting people know who I am FIRST before I even bother trying to sell them anything. Time to roll up the sleeves and get to it. Thanks for vid this is great heads up.
That's very smart and what I did also. I built up a website teaching people how to do something, built up a youtube channel for credibility and THEN launched my products. Branding and trust is everything! Smart move, Frozen Fan.
Thanks so much Lisa...am in early stage of starting my own e-commerce site.i dont hav problem in building my own site cos i know how to...but the marketing. This information is very good..
hello lisa, I egypt for holiday and bought a sweet bag over there $6 aus , i now want to get more bag s and sell them online though I cant find the manufacturer, do i get the bags dropped shipped from an eygpt manufacturer or purchase them myself from there or get a manufacture in australia to manufacture them by giving them a sample of what i want made.
Which one would be better / more credible / smarter to do when it comes to sales. Have a youtube channel where you give advice about a particular field that you are interested in and sell products under that same name or… Have the channel and sale products under a different name but sponsored on the video. Pros and cons that I think of. Make them different names because you need to diverse your approach so you have options. Since the channel is basically advice if someone doesn’t like it may directly effect your shirt sales By having both in the same name you don’t have to worry about the customer making to the 2nd site as much . One thing this reminds me of is when FUBU got started. They built there buzz because rappers wore the product in videos so much that customers said “ ooh what’s that ? He’s cool. I want one” Maybe thats the approach I should take without naming the company and the channel the same thing. Just make sure the models are wearing the shirts etc in the videos on youtube while I deliver a stellar voice over… thoughts???
Even though this video is 9 years old much of the core message is still super relevant today. For example, many people are still spending oodles of money on creating a store and haven't a clue as to how to build an audience. So because that is still very true today and the core message of the video, I decided to leave it up. Probably the biggest difference is today we have social media so you can use that. Nevertheless, you need an audience -- not just a store. The only update I'd make is use Shopify if I were creating a store today and I've linked them in the description.

Can you do a video that explains and compares how much you end up having to spend on a monthly basis to have your own online store. I did not know that you have to pay Amazon $100 per month, and Shopify a lot of money, etc. I have always thought that you can just put up a WordPress website on Hostgator or something like that and then set up a shopping cart and end up paying a fee per credit card transaction and that is it. Thank you in advance.
Good idea but like amazon they have items on there first page not like what you said in this video. Should I have products that interest people on my front page of my site and then advertise what i'm selling?
I love the way We can see it in action too, when You tell us about all of the Websites that We can go to, to get more assistance. (An example of redirecting People from Content, to a Web-Site.). Good advice. Cheers. :).
+Maria Kalendareva Hi Maria, it sure is. In fact I put that on the annotation in the video. Here's the link where I talk about it www.2createawebsite.com/money/build-online-store.html
I really admire your presentational flow. Radio may not be a bad Idea. Maybe we can create a comedy media marketing network team. Just giving informative information like you do so well. God bless keep up the good work. You're headed there.
hi i did a stupid thing by trusting smc and gave them all my savings so yes im one that wasted my money on my new web site and im not geting no traffic what should i do im so broke and need cash fast or ima lose my home please help
The SBI site builder is where there is continuing subscriptions every year...if that is what you want to pay? The site is good stuff, if you know what your doing. The ownership has changed, as the owner now lives on the Small South Pacific Ireland of Antigua with his family. The prices are extremely expensive, where I can build a site for less. I did do this but there is always the writing support tickets... that takes up to much of your time! Think twice before you buy! Webmaster
+Michael Francis Christian I have to completely agree. I dropped my affiliation with them 2 years ago. I need to add an annotation to this video to let people know. Thank you. And for the record, it's the same owner and he lives in Panama now. He no longer lives in Anguilla. I just talked to him not long ago. It never changed ownership. He just moved a couple of times.
+Suraj Kulkarni You absolutely can! I make over $400/month from Amazon. I don't use astore, but I just link to products I want to promote through their affiliate program. That's certainly a low cost way of starting. Unfortunately Amazon's commissions are low though.
+Valerie Maldonado No. The idea is you create a blog on a topic that is related to your store and you link that store from your blog. So if you have a blog about fishing and you sell fishing supplies, you would blog to rank your fishing related content on Google and use that blog as a doorway to your store -- which will be linked from your blog.

You gave me some advice a few years back, thanks. You were way ahead of the game.
u r very smart
You are the best doing it right now!!!!!!
Please believe it
You only inspire me to do better and i thank you sooooo much!!
Good advice, 10 years old don't matter
+Geoff Kinlen Thanks Geoff, yes! About the only thing that has changed since then is social media. But it's still the same concept. You can use social media to build up your following and then use that as your sales funnel. Yep, same concept just different traffic options. Thanks for watching!
That is SUCH great advice! Great content is always key. Thx for your video!
True .. even in 2017.
Thank you so much for the helpful advise. You are soooo right. You can have the best product, but if they don't know YOU, then its an uphill battle. Thanks.

eBay sounds like a another avenue you may use aside from website search engine optimization
Your information and presentation style is excellent and right on point! Please keep adding videos on this subject, thanks.

Thanks Lisa, do you have any tips for DJ websites?
Sounds like a honest girl......Very helpful information!
What's the best way to build the credibility? Please help . How do I educate my customers ? Should I use Social Networking or UA-cam videos??
Never thought of this...starting an online store in a few months but I can use social media to promote it in the meantime
Yes you can. This option wasn't available with I made this video so yes... definitely agree.
That was very helpful, can you make a video of how to start e-commerce.
it can also be "create product reviews blog then put ur product link on it" seo that blog not ur e store just explained it
Thanks Lisa👏👏🐸
Thank you Lisa for this wonderful presentation. Keep up the great work.

+Lisa Irby Hi, I really enjoyed your video! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. Who do you recommend to build a online store?
Boriquah Afrikanah I recommend Shopify and Wordpress. See description.
+Michael Francis Christian Antigua is in the Caribbean...Not the South Pacific....well it was in the Caribbean last time I was there....captjack...
Hi Lisa, I found this helpfully to start but my cuestion is, do I need to register LLC for an online store?
No it's not necessary but it's not a bad idea either.
+Lisa Irby thanks Lisa appreciate
What is LLC please?
Thanks for that tip. I do have a website that I am now working to get traffic to because it is an affiliate program.

Thanks for the valuable advice Lisa. You've gained a new subscriber.
How about godaddy? I started a free till with them
How about creating amazon astore instead of just placing 1-2 products links in a blog. Will it be effective to earn form amazon
+Suraj Kulkarni You absolutely can! I make over $400/month from Amazon. I don't use astore, but I just link to products I want to promote through their affiliate program. That's certainly a low cost way of starting. Unfortunately Amazon's commissions are low though.

that only apply affiliates sales not really ecommerce
love your voice. and your info was helpful thank you.
