Day in the Life of a USPS Mailman - Ride Along

- This was taken when I was a mailman around 2014. I was a mailman for 6 years, 2 as cca then became a regular. If you're thinking about working for the USPS, I would recommend staying away from postal jobs.
I can only imagine all the Supervisors watching having seizures at all the “violations”😂
All they care about is time
Right lol
No seatbelt , door open while driving, rubber bands on steering wheel, can't rap, etc. lol 🤣
Lmao I love watching the usps trucks zoom around like its the end of the world
Thats right!!! Ya gotta drive it like ya stole it!!!
@@freddygigliotti7214 Yea!
12 hours worth of work in an 8hour shift lol except city now has 3 hours worth of work in a 8 hour day. Lol
@@patricklefalchier6465 you must not be a carrier cuz this pandemic is KILLING us with all these damn packages. Its like christmas every single damn day!!!
Lol i average 150 a day on a Monday almost 200 with almost 800+ addresses. Another route i Dinis cbu but has i believe 1300 addresses idk if y’all lost Amazon though we lost 80% of it we just do big boxes man
I work at the Maryvale station in Az, as a CCA, looking to hit a lil over 60k this year😖 shitty ass routes lmao! It’s a coo career but plan on doing something Better. In the mean time I’m here cause I got a baby on the way. Not going to stop me from succeeding in my passion. Good luck dawg.
Get out before you become a regular, it will be harder to quit after that. Go do your passion now
On the bright side, I hear more complaints about amazon, where I used to work, than I do USPS. Given where I'm coming from, USPS should be much better probably. I can also use the experience to begin a medical transport job or something better paying like that.
Cool you got a grumman llv too had theyre retiring them they were long island crafted btw but im happy ford transit got picked and will have heat and ac finally
Ford Transit...? OshKosh got the contract.
This kind of box system should be implemented in the US. The amount of time wasted going door-to-door makes no actual sense. The chronic understaffing and financial issues all point to finding a better way of delivering mail. Every street should have mailboxes grouped.
all our routes in canada are now like this one, unless you pay an annual fee or get your roadside box grandfathered in your mail goes to a community mailbox(cmb) some dense urban areas will still have some walking loops but they are trying to be phased out
Damn your route is straight up cluster boxes
lol, it was not my route, I was just a cca then
@@Ghanzi209 did you like being a CCA I start soon.
@@Tattedmax_Reviews In the beginning yes, but after working a 2 weeks straight without a day off then it got bad.
@@Ghanzi209 damn I’m nervous
You know you've been brainwashed by the postal service when you watch this and feel like you have to pick out "what they're doing wrong" That's the mentality of the postal system. Not what you do right....
yup, youre right about that!
Why would you pick out what he’s doing right ? If your know how to do your job than you do it right and not cut corners so you can finish early and think your going home after your done. Your reward for finishing early is just more work smh
What didn't you like about the job? Pays 18.50 where I am with benefits and im thinking about applying.
lmao that scanner is like 10 years old. Those things are so slow. We used to get yelled at for blinding smashing "enter enter enter" because it would take 20 seconds for each screen prompt to load. Often times you're scanning the wrong bar code and not even realizing it because you're not looking at your screen and making sure the numbers match.
And it wouldn't scan shit. Most barcodes you had to hand type in the 20 digit number. So frustrating!!! Especially when the numbers are smeared from the rain or wrinkled over so you can't tell if you're seeing a 4 or a 7.
But the GPS scanners suck too. SO much big brothering. It's like a nagging wife that has nothing to add to actually help you get your job done. So I suppose it's a trade off. Either a slap in the face or a kick in the ass. You pick. :P
this guy sick af
On god
i'd probably get bored of these type of routes. i'm on park n loops all day
When u first started out, how long did it take u to learn to case the mail?
fast like the first day lol
When pulling down and sorting the dps and sprs, do you use a bucket or a tray to do that ?? Bcus I’m an rca and my whole entire route are all CBU’S. Does anyone recommend putting sprs all together with the dps and putting them in a tray or bucket ? Idk which one might be easier
Where’s your seat belt at chief
none needed
@@Ghanzi209 Always needed.
Love for usps
Amen brotha i salute you for being loyal to our beloved usps
As a man turning 40 this year, should I work at usps as a carrier or find a different position?
don't do it, find something else, its a death trap working as a mailman
@@Ghanzi209wow, can’t believe you responded. What was the worst part of being a mailman?
Is driving cdl better ?
Thank you for your wisdom and video
@@streetbs3586 they will work you 7 days a week your first 2 years then when you become regular it becomes so repetitive you want to quit but u can’t cause ur into deep already lol
@@Ghanzi209 was it a bit easier as a regular thank you brother 🙏
@@Ghanzi209 does it get better as a regular thank you pare 🙏
So what do you do now? Any advices of what to do next?
I got to admit, when I first saw your video I was like "damn you got balls dude!" lol
but since you're not in this thing anymore, that don't matter I guess lo
Started a business a year before I resign. Most people probably 99 percents of usps workers are afraid that theres nothing out there and they feel that the pay is great for being a usps employee, but to me, the post office is a very NEGATIVE environment which slowly kills your mind and effect your daily life. If u hate waking up and going to work, don't be afraid to quit and find a passion or something that will excite you to wake up everyday looking forward on. We only have a short time in this world by the time you know it, your dead and spent half of your life being a usps worker. Just ask yourself, when you were growing up, did you dream of becoming a usps mail man? lol. We are in a great time at the moment where theres so much money going around, but you have to know where to look :). Go find your passion bro
@@Ghanzi209 i hear you. I often understood the negativity comes from not only from management but from senior carriers too. They feed you so much stories how it USED to be good back then vs how CCAs contracts are fucking us. I'm about to turn regular and so far the only positive word was "Congratulations" lol
I understand the fear too. To me it hasn't up to a point where I really wanna quit but with the pay, I don't really see a bright future so I'm trying to establish something on the side so eventually I don't have to rely on them. But rather keep the benefits lol
No seat belt, even the lap belt. Not curbing your wheels half of the time. So many violations here.
Let me guess, youre a carrier? lol. Calm down bro
Hanswolfcola well I guess you
And dont 4get those rubber bands hanging up
Do you still work for USPS? Thinking of switching careers from an office job to this.
No, I quit 3 years ago
@@Ghanzi209 thanks for responding. Did you find a better job?
Want music for your mail truck just buy portable speakers & connect your mp3 player or portable cd player & you have music to enjoy while on the job oh yeah thank me!
Grummans dont have radio ac or heating
Wolf Cola does not endorse terrorists
Is it hard to get into this job? but I heard it pays good huh
Very easy job to get into, just go to USPS.com and scroll bottom careers. They always hiring cca's, but be ready to work 7 days straight most of the time. It does not pay enough for your time and health.
@@Ghanzi209 oh god, 7 days straight wtf lol
@@ccgb92 It seems like they're always understaffed
@@ccgb92 i know this is an older comment but during the holidays i went 22 days before I had a day off as a cca. You probably make more money starting off as a cca than once you initially convert to regular because of all the overtime you work. Some offices might be better than others but the one im currently at is so short staffed im usually having to do a full route than a piece off another one and can always expect to get called on my days off to see if I want to come in and run a route. Thankfully im past my probabation and can tell supervision to piss off or just not answer the phone lol. Definitely not a job to take up if you have a family or any hobbies outside you want to pursue
Name of intro
Not a good mail man here
Too bad typo
No seatbelt? False scans smh
Do you still work for the USPS?
yes
I plan on getting hired
Good luck with that and hope you get to drive a grumman
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHH!
My wife works at the North Regional District Office and points out all the mistakes that you are doing in your video. 1. Not wearing your seat belt (shoulder/waist) while the LLV is in motion. 2. having the LLV door open while the LLV is in motion. 3.Not wearing your satchel. 4. where is your Halt dog spray. She is surprised that you were in the USPS for the 6 years and never been caught from your boss. Perhaps you were and you were terminated from the USPS. You were a terrible Letter Carrier and role model for the USPS. Good Luck in whatever you're doing now!
Postal carrier job is joke! tell your wife to quit before before its too late. yeah I know i was not wearing my seat belt and all the other stuff you mention cause the job was terrible to even care about wearing seatbelt lol. And No I was not Terminated, I voluntary quit.
The only point you actually have is not wearing his seatbelt. You are allowed to drive with the door open as long as you don't go through an intersection. He also had no need for a satchel. Thats a rule that isn't enforced at all. And the dog spray complaint is another thing that never gets questioned by a supervisor.
Thank you
@@Ghanzi209 .... The safety belt is for YOUR safety, silly😆.
Well to give points to this guy, where and how he was delivering the mail, there was no need to be too concern about dogs and having to close the LLV door since he was in/out most of the time at each stop. I would be more concern IF he was doing park and loop and leaving the door open. Other than that, he seems disorganized.
