Manic Pixie Dream Wife Trailer

- www.manicpixiedreamwife.com - Manic Pixie Dream Wife is a comedy web series created by M. Elizabeth Eller that examines the pop-culture trope of the manic pixie dream girl -- the effervescent, carefree, quirky woman who arrives in a man's life with a singular purpose: to help him become a better version of himself. Who is this woman? Where does she come from, and what is she like in everyday life?
Blending humor and drama, MPDW is both playfully sardonic as it examines the popular caricature, and thoughtful as it explores relationships, and the roles people bring into them. The series follows Chance and Simone as they navigate married life from two very different perspectives.
Chance is at the end of his rope when we meet him -- he knows he sounds ungrateful, but his delightful wife is driving him to madness. She sends in their bills with colorful drawings instead of checks, because "money is such a restrictive concept." She sends him to the hospital after an impromptu burn party in their kitchen. As Chance explains, she is a menace to herself and him because of her inability to function in the real world. But is that true?
As the series goes deeper into their life, questions of how they define themselves arise, and it becomes clear that each is playing a number of roles -- but to what end?
this is basically about a guy who married Pinterest in human form...on a constant sugar high. I love it.
true
Everybody wants the manic without the depressive...
"Somethin wrong wit ya brain girly?"
Did no one else notice that the dancing in the pot was what she referred to when she mentioned her work for the non-profit?
That's what Saturdays are for
To be fair dancing in that pot was a good idea to get donations
Wanna read about someone in real life who's the daughter of someone who REALLY DID marry a Manic Pixie Dream Girl?
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. The mom is crazy and you'll hate her
Honestly, in that book I think the dad was worse.
Ooh yes, I read that book back in high school. The dad was an asshole and the mom was just a childish moron, and they both always put themselves before their own kids. The Glass Castle was one of my most favorite books of all time, but dude, I was so angry while reading it.
Really? I thought the dad was way worse. The mom just seemed like more of the enabler than the instigator of crazy.
Nice. Thanks.
Rex(the dad) is also a little crazy
"Are you just going to dance in that pot all day?"
"That's what Saturdays are for!" Next level insanity.
LMFAO @ the giant daisy on the windshield!
THE FISHES NAME IS MORRISSEY
Accurate depiction of dating in Seattle, well done
TRUE
This seriously needs more subscribers! I loved this series and hope to see a season two.
So much love for this series!!!
Jessica Stone hi love your profile pic♡......lets chat
Thought this was gonna be sexist af but turns out to be just cute af
You just sit and wait to be able to be offended at something, dont ya
THIS IS AWESOME! I haven't laughed so hard and been so entertained by a trailer.
I’m so mad this doesn’t have more recognition
I married a Bi-Polar woman. She was this but without looks or charm, and there was no reasoning with her, and once I married her it got worse. I thought she was getting better, but she was just pretending long enough for me to be stupid enough to marry her. Remember, it is better to be alone, than to be with the wrong person.
Zachary Grigley Harsh. You probably weren't a good partner either.
Zachary Grigley not
all of us bipolar people are like that. Besides, if you fell for her fake self, it just means that you were either gullible enough to buy into her trickery, or perhaps jumped into the marriage too soon, before knowing what she was actually like. hate to be the one to tell you, but you were dumb enough for her headgames to work either way. nobody cab act fake forever.
Zachary Grigley that’s too bad, fortunately modern science has provided us with the luxury of remedying the issue with medication. Tell her to get on some for the sake of both her and your well being. Hopefully if she’s still not on meds you don’t have children together; having a parent that lashes out in anger at you for no apparent reason other than an involuntary chemical imbalance is something quite hard and sad for a child to go through. So confront the problem or get a divorce. Hope it all works out for you and your family.
i love how quick people r to side with the abuser and claim the victim "probably wasnt that good of a spouse either". fact is she abused him and was a shit person
I'm pretty sure that's what my Dad did.
I've been called manic pixie dream girl, nightmare girl, and a few other variations.
I am in love with this xDD
You surprisingly captured my life.
I. Love. This.
Im a single Dad. You need to do something about the fake-ass idealized "Dick VanDyke" role people try to cast me into ala this vein. Do men, too!
it's true Dick VanDyke is perfect, I hope he never dies.
This gave me a good laugh 😂 it's all quirky fun around here.
I've never seen a character so relatable XD
Arent those just modern hippie girls ?
There are plenty of manic pixie dream girls in real life, they just don't act like this. LOL
No there isn't. That trope is literally a shell of a person that solely caters to a man's needs. Now you get guys that see you as a manic pixie, but those relationships go pretty badly since they ignore all your flaws and issues as you can see here. Of course this is an exaggeration, but it usually implodes like this
Is that Seattle?
This looks amazing!!!
So she's a Toys 'R Us girl.
Life can suck way worse than this, believe me...so he should probably just go with the flow.
Wow, are people ever missing out on another meme though, and one you'll more likely encounter in real life. That's the Sporty Pixie Dream Girl who once she becomes Wife things begin to tense up as soon as she has a kid or two. She'll suddenly realize "Oh shit, this isn't my life. I wanted to be a tennis, golf, cycling, etc. semi-pro outside my career hours. No time for this scene, I'm outa he-ah!"
Oh my fuck she's me 😭😩
Me too, Bee. Me too.
Me too 😶
Me as a wife.
Name of song when she dances as a flower?
omg my perfect woman

Vastly underrated
Great! I can't wait.
this doesn't seem bad he just seems unhappy.
I want one. Is there a mail order catalogue? Is there a warranty? Are loans available? Financing?
No warrenties
Damn i'd watch this lol
Oh nvm it's a real thing damn im there
Did this project ever move forward?
Yes, if you look at their channel you can see a 9 episode playlist.
Superb Media Content Creator It had one season here on UA-cam. It was actually pretty good.
Pioneer Square!
This is powerful. Lmfao
What is the title of the song?
nice
>>>I am the wife in this ROFL
She's hot
Jajaja
See, here's the thing about this series, when you've watched it all the way through you really have to wonder where that ending came from. I mean it can't have been part of the original plan when you consider that one of the first things he says she did was to literally rip the upholstery off of the furniture to make a blanket fort. Now maybe it's just me, but that kind of flies in the face of, "she just did it all to be quirkly and cheer him up." That's like saying someone jumped into the grand canyon as a pratt fall to cheer up their spouse. Going a bit far there. I contend that the ending of this series was just tossed in their to appease the angry ladies that have been putting this comedy series down for being sexist.
I got the perfect salutation. I think you're going to like it. It is something that benefits us both. How would you feel about renting her out, cause I am in the market, but I am having second thoughts after watching your video. Every other weekend is good for me.
😂
Too funny!
