Never in my life have I ever had this crap happen....filed on 1/24.... accepted that day, waited 21 days, I got my state fast and no feds....I waited a whole 30 days n then called the IRS.... They said I was "randomly" picked for a review or something and it would be 120 days. I almost passed out. But then I opened up my transcript and seen the 570 and 971 (I think that's the Numbers) and got my cp05 letter on 3/11 with the 60 day notice. I keep checking on Fridays for an update or something, and NOTHING. My wmr says don't do anything, there working on it.... Everything is correct on my return I went over it, I had my lawyer friend go over it, I'm starting to feel as if I'm being punked!
As you stated, the IRS can pick a person at random for review as they put it, and unfortunately, they picked you. It happened to me in 2021. I didn't get my refund until 2023. Hopefully, you don't have to wait that long.
I totally get it. Filed the same time through TaxSlayer. Have NEVER had an issue or delay this long in my entire time of paying and or filing taxes. It's absolutely unacceptable, because there is NO transparency. 570 code. since "Received".
FINALLY got my return 846 tax code for 4/15. I was an early filer, January 25. 570 / 971 since march 11th. Got a CP05 60 day notice. Three weeks later I got a letter 2645C in the mail telling me that they needed another 60 days. Which was confusing to me since it only been 21 days since the first notice. The more confusing part was when I called the IRS yesterday they had no record of the second notice being sent out. I didn’t even know what to say just confused. And then lo and behold today I checked my tax transcript and got the beloved 846 code feeling much better about it. All good luck to everyone else still waiting.

Ive all but given up. I filed through the office that ive been going to almost 10 years and ive never had a problem. Jan 29. Its April 8th and it still says processing. My transcripts say no tax filed. And my notices say no notices. I called mid March and a rep told me their was an error in the irs system and i should get my refund by April 8th, if not to call back. Nothing changed today and i tried calling and it was impossible to get through to anyone. I dont know what else to do.
Hi everyone just want to let you no even if you receive a 60 days cp05 letter it doesn’t mean it will take the full 60 days. I just checked my transcript and my 570 and 971 just cleared with a 570 and I now have my 846 for April 17th after a month of receiving my cp05 letter. I know it’s frustrating but reach out to your state senator to help get things moving alone that’s what I did.
Filed and accepted January 31st. Got a 570 code date 3/04 then 971 code date 3/11. Cycle 20240705. I received the cp05 letter on 3/11 saying please allow 60 days to review and no need for me to reach out to them. Just checked my transcript today 4/11 and got an 846 code dated 4/16. With that being said I guess there is hope and I guess they do update the 05 cycles other days besides Friday. Stay strong guys there’s hope still.

Until the tax advocate agency took over my case and I got my refund in two weeks. Surprisingly I check my status this morning and it says I’m expected to get my refund on 4/11 Which means this time they only took 30 days after they send the letter. Just wanted to update here incase you are one of those who got the letter on 3/11 Hopefully everyone starts getting those refunds since tax season is almost over. It’s only right specially those of us who filed early

Then 1.2 and not 1.5 mil unprocessed... the math aint mathing.... all these "processed" claim, i have not talked to anyone who has gotten their tax refund. I have the 570 and 971 codes. No other updates. My return was accepted on 1/31. I did make a couple of withdrawals from my 401k which really shouldn’t be an issue since I am 72. I am still working full time and collecting a pension from OPM from when I retired from the government in 2018. I called the Taxpayers advocate number and received very rude operator.
Got a new letter after the CP05 it states we’re working on your account. However, we need an additional 60 days to send you a complete response…. We don’t need any further info from you….. nothing has changed on transcript since 3/11 when we got the letter for CP05 nothing further needed they didn’t want anything and still no update and this new letter isn’t even on account…
I filed 02/12. I got the same 152 code. It’s still says it’s processing. I received a letter in the mail a while ago, stating it would take 60 days to process, that I didn’t need to do anything (respond to the letter, turn in additional information) It really sucks. In the month of Feb, I had vacation time I needed to take and a mini surgery. Which means I haven’t worked as many hours as I normally do. I could really use the money. I keep checking and checking and nothing has changed. Every year, I file with the same dependents, I have the same job, same address, same bank account, same person who files my taxes. I don’t understand why I’m there’s extra screening.

I think the video is spot on for many of us at time stamp 2:18. The return is received but gets stuck, not being "pushed into the system" with no transcript updates and a note saying "no tax return filed". Extremely frustrating and a helpless feeling. Its good to know this might resolve itself at the 10 week mark according to both the IRS agent I spoke with and some of the comments here.

I called the IRS and was told my return is in the ERROR RESOLUTION DEPARTMENT. multiple people on other forums are confirming this as they are also being told this by the IRS. the IRS is saying a GLITCH in the system has ERASED what was already inputted. And those affected must wait 10 weeks from when they filed and accepted.

I was able to check transcripts byt for 2023 it says no record of taxes on filed! Turbo tax and says accepted and on the " where is my refund" it shows processing since 2/7

My 401k was filed they told me that, but they also told me I'm on a 60-day review. I got the letter 3/18/2024, and they told me I just have to wait, this sucks

Received the letter CP05 on 3/18 and and has been waiting for the updates and now got this message on WMR “REFUND STATUS ERROR” this morning and I wonder what that means 😮🙄
I had got an error too this morning but waited and went back in and it is still saying verify ID. I had to wait on them to mail out letter with code which it took them a month to do. The letter was dated 2/28/24 and I received on 3/21. I finished the ID process with the letter but still no update. This is ridiculous!!! IRS sucks!!!! Owe them and see what will happen but they hold your money hostage.

So if you forgot to include withdrawal from 401k then the return would be triggered into revising hence the 570 code and no update

My 401k was filed they told me that, but they also told me I'm on a 60-day review. I got the letter 3/18/2024, and they told me I just have to wait, this sucks
I'm wondering if that's why I'm also in this situation. I took a 401k loan, not a withdrawal so it shouldn't have flagged the same but it's the only common link. I adjusted my w4 though. I'm not dealing with this crap next year.
So basically code 806 on my transcripts the amount is different than on my actual w2. I didnt make that error. Somehow it was made which prompted code 871 and 570

Received the letter CP05 on 3/18 and and has been waiting for the updates and now got this message on WMR “REFUND STATUS ERROR” this morning and I wonder what that means 😮🙄

I had got an error too this morning but waited and went back in and it is still saying verify ID. I had to wait on them to mail out letter with code which it took them a month to do. The letter was dated 2/28/24 and I received on 3/21. I finished the ID process with the letter but still no update. This is ridiculous!!! IRS sucks!!!! Owe them and see what will happen but they hold your money hostage.
Mine has not came yet. The only thing that came in was my check for my amended return for 2022 😑

My taxes had got submitted February 13th and it's still on received return, and it been like that for almost nearly 60 days now, and when I look it up online, it says tax topic 152, can somebody let me know what's going on, and plus I file for direct deposit!!! And I still don't have my money yet Smh!!!
Topic 152 is a good thing usually but this year is a shit show. I've been waiting since Jan 29. Still on received status no update no code at all. No letter. No help when I've called the irs several times they just hang up on my mid sentence. You're not alone though

YES! The IRS uses COBOL on their mainframe computers which is from the 1960's. This should have been replaced in early 1990's at the latest!
