It's so nice to learn the meaning behind this song. I've been singing it for years but never knew what the words meant. This adds a whole new dimension of appreciation to this song. Thank you again, you're adding so much value to my musical journey through these generous tutorials. Many blessings ❤
Mahalo Harry, Your videos are so entertaining that i end up learning a ton without even thinking about trying to learn. That, my friend is the mark of a great teacher.
Hey Harry, I am so pleased to hear your songs. When I lived in Hawaii I always heard your videos to get into Aloha mood, after classes. After returning to Brazil I shared the hawaiian spirit but also I tried to show them, through your songs, how that feels like... Very deep hawaiian feeling comes back when I hear you saying and explaining reason why songs were made...
+Alexandre Vieira Aloha Alexandre! Thank you for reaching out and making my day! So sweet of you! Hope you continue to have fun studying with my shows and please keep in touch! Aloha to my friend in 🇧🇷 Brazil.
Mahalo for all you do Mr. Harry. For sure I will reach a dream if someday me and my girl can meet you and hear some pieces of your amazing performs ! Glad you are for living this great place ! Obrigado from Brazil !
I know I'm coming to this a bit late but wow... I really love this style of teaching because not only do I learn the music but I get to learn the words too ❤ thank you!!
Thanks, Harry. That's the first time I heard about the history of the song. I grew up in Honolulu, but I didn't know much about the different areas, like Kapahulu and Kakaako. Thanks.
Aloha Harry, thanks for the breakdown of the song (I don't play Ukulele.......yet, only guitar) and for the explanation of the Hawaiian words, meanings and pronunciations. Would love to have some of your recordings but difficult here in England (UK as we are suppose to say).
Please please have a lesson for my favorite Hawaiian song, “Hawaii 78”. No one else has this lesson, except one guy who only shows how to pick the beginning. I’m begging you to show it all! Thank you so much.
I went to coconut Grove this morning to buy a ukulele and you recommended me your videos! it is awesome way to learn about Hawaii culture and I love the songs too! mahalo! merci! very precious!
Thanks so much for posting these!! We are heading to The Big Island in April! I feel like I'm already on vacation!! I love your format!! So easy to follow and learn to, not a lot of complicated strumming! Aloha!!
Mahalo. The song is beautiful to listen to and I especially love the telling of the story along with it. I hope I do the song justice as I try to play.
Aloha Scottie! I'm happy that you like it enough to contact me! Made my day! :) Thank you so much and where are you watching from? Keep having fun studying!
Thank you so much, love the translation. I learn so much more than just how to play a song. I was unable to download the tab.Can I please have a link. The one in description did not work. Again Mahalo for all your lessons
Thank you for this video, very helpful. The link for the tabs is not working, Internal server error? Do you have a new link? I really enjoy this song, it’s one of my favorites from Braddah Iz. Thank you 🤙🏼
Hi Harry, I wanted to download the tab for this nice song, but the link seems broken with an internal server error (500). Could you make the tab available otherwise? Thank you very much.
Aloha Harry! I love this song and the link for the tab is not working :( is there anywhere else I can download the tabs from? if not I'm dropping by for Uke lessons next time I visit :) Mahalo! Kalena
Yes! The 3 smaller sizes of ukulele is the soprano, concert and tenor and are tuned the same. GCEA Even the 6 string or 8 string like the one I play. You can play and do exactly the same on the baritone ukulele but it will sound lower in pitch and the chord names will be different. Keep watching and I hope that helps! :)
Aloha and keep trying and be patient! A fun way to help with your rhythm would be to take a percussion class of some sort! I found that to be helpful for me! :) Keep in touch!
Thanks for the story. I’m learning this song for my kid’s hula troupe, and the lyrics are all in katakana Japanese, so it has been rendered kind of meaningless.
Thank you so much, love the translation. I learn so much more than just how to play a song. I was unable to download the tab.Can I please have a link. The one in description did not work. Again Mahalo for all your lessons
