Raise your Horns is a very special cover for us. For the first time we approached a song with Van Canto in which the lead vocals consistently take place in the lowest growl register. Hagen takes the lead, Inga can set high, almost orchestral accents and Sly leads the choir together with Jan. It's a song in which a "real" riff shows the direction, resulting in a lot of rakkatakka and bass singing. A great composition by Amon Amarth, to whom we are happy to pay homage!

This video is the reason why Van Canto should keep this three-vocalists formation. We all missed Sly, but Hagen gave a new and very good material for the band. I really hope the band consider to stay together.
my point exactly. You could never substitute Sly, but Hagen adds to their repertoire when he can actually use his voice to his fullest. Having 3 leads gives them *so* much range, it's almost ridiculous.

That’s something amaranthe does :). They have a clean female, clean male and a rough male.
Actually, do you know Amaranthe? They have 3 singers, too, quite interesting in their case, one of them is a woman singing clear, the other is a man who sings clear as well, and one of them screams. Makes for pretty unique singing, and, even though I’m not much of a Metalcore-Fan myself, I really like what they’re doing.
That cover is amazing! 😱 Hagen really shines when he can let out his growls 🤘🏻😁
And I'm still so happy that Sly is back, even when he sings just in the choir here, it sounds soooo good!

@@CayleeMusicConcerts oh, okay, thanks for the info!! I did miss him though, his vocals were way hidden in the chorus. I get that it's Amon Amarth and I don't really enjoy very much their music, that also threw me off I guess.

Actually this is a cover, but you are right. Hagen deserves more growl songs, it is his strong point.

Stumbled upon this by accident. I'm heavily and throughly impressed! A metal band with only a drummer? Thats crazy yet plays well on the ears.
This is my favourite Amon Amarth song, and is legit the first riff I play every time I pick up my guitar. This is a sick cover! Good work!

I'm not usually a fan of "growling" metal, but I loved this performance. All the backing vocals and choirs gave me goosebumps! Hagen did an amazing job (he seems to be much more comfortable with this style) although I think his voice needed to be at a higher volume in certain parts. Thanks for making me curious to listen to the original song too!

When VC introduced Hagen in Voice Number Seven I was so excited and when full album came out I was kinda disapointed. Only Desert Snake cointained a little bit of his growling.
Hagen's growls certainly adds something new to VC arsenal and I hope there will be more songs utilizing that :)

Ihr solltet den Song umtaufen in "Hagen Unleashed". Ich fand seine Stimme bei den Tracks bisher nicht schlecht. Aber richtig gut und sogar bombastisch finde ich ihn bei diesem Song.
Auch der Gesamtklang der ganzen Band ist einfach episch. Mir hat einiges auf der letzten Platte nicht gefallen, aber ihr habt gelernt mit der neuen Zusammenstetzung zur arbeiten.

seh das ähnlich, man hat gemerkt, dass die Band sich erst auf den neuen Lead einstellen musste und wahrscheinlich umgekehrt. Finde das neue Album aber umso besser, vllt eines ihrer besten bisher.

I can already imagine Sly becoming a permanent member again, making the band a permanent octet (a band that exists out of eight members). It would kind of remind me of Amaranthe if that were to happen. The only difference then would be is that Van Canto has eight members, while Amaranthe still has six,

Straight up, Hagen's got some of the _dirtiest_ growls I've heard in a long while! _Definitely_ appreciating the man's talent here guys, I really hope that you can focus on what he does well and incorporate it in with what Van Canto does best, rather than treat him like he's still got Sly's voice!

Wow. I always hoped for you to cover 'Live For the Kill', because its main and chorus riff are kind of written for rakkatakka, the Apocalytica ft. Cello Part could be easily translated to a gorgeous vocal performance. Anyhow, this cover puts a damn big smile on my face, Hagen could be a bit louder imo, but apart from the that it's really cool and unique. May the vinyl come to me at the speed of light. Überraschung. Hab Van Canto mal live gesehen in Wacken und bin nach drei Songs gegangen, weil es mir nicht so zugesagt hat. Und heute Raise your Horns? Die covern Amon Amarth? Yep tun sie und das richtig gut. Richtig coole Version. So kann das vielleicht doch noch was werden. Cheers and raise your Horns.

I hope we’ll hear more of Hagen’s growls throughout the album. With a male lead, a female lead, and a screamer, this approach kind of reminds me of the band Amaranthe. However, even though you have that arrangement, I prefer your style of metal to Amaranthe’s.
I was wondering how you were going to handle an Amon Amarth song, and I have to say you handled it excellently! 😁

I'll say this for Hagen, he's got a good growl.
I saw the video where Hagen was officially introduced to the band and I thought that he would be a good replacement for Sly, but I changed my mind when I listened some of the songs of Trust in Rust. I felt something was missing although the raspy voices were good... In fact, my favourite song of that album is the cover of AC/DC, where Hagen shows all his potential. Now, in this new album, I feel that Hagen is doing better than before... and not because he is not singing clean parts, but because he is using his growls, they give the new sound that Van Canto needed.
And just preordered the album !
Zuerst auch nicht meins, mag so viel Growl eigentlich nicht. Nach drei, vier Mal hören find ichs geil und liebe es, mal was anderes! Jetzt läuft es, mit Falling down, rauf und runter! :) Hagen killt und passt perfekt zu euch! Den Spaß den ihr beim Video habt, will ich wieder live sehen!
