That is the main point. These people never do it for the cause. They may claim to do so. However, they do not. They do for the attention. These people are attention grabbers/seekers. They also will never admit it; but this why these people need mental help. Admitting a problem is the first step of recovery.

Why Stonehenge though? If you're angry at big oil, vandalize something from them. ie an oil rig, an oil transport ship, an oil depot. I'd leave out gas station, those are local community places of employment usually operated by your neighbor or a family member.
Stonehenge would get attention. They are trying to draw attention to their message. Just like the suffragettes did. Guess what, it worked.

@mustangracer5124 You failed to see their point. People are putting more value to these objects ( paintings, Stonehenge) than they are to the planet. The jingling keys caught your attention while they burn your house down. We are to be stewards of Earth. It's in many religion's scriptures.
