Best build yet. This is real old school hotrodding, just using stuff you have laying around to piece something together. Duff is going to love going for a rip in this "hey ladies, how you doin?" rig.
One of the best Mortske videos ever‼️‼️ The knowledge this man spit out in the first fifteen minutes was IMMENSE and fawking AMAZING to listen to‼️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Do not worry about how rough it is This pickup looks like you should finish it as video gold. Us youtubers like stuff that shows it has lived a life before, as a truck that some of us remember in our youth as farm trucks.
Badass video-super-cool combo! I’m glad you are a little bit of a hoarder, but really you’re more like a temporary sanctuary for an eclectic array of neglected parts and pieces that are destined to be repurposed-eventually 😂❤️🔧
I think we need a Mortske’s Greatest Hits compilation video, Chin. The electrical shocks, engine fires, head bonks, puzzled looks at the camera, and all the other fan-favorite clips. A supercut. Wait… I can hear it now… “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”
Never too much information for me, Duff should know most in’s & outs by now, he’s a smart dog! Never too old to learn, thank you for my Monday Mortske dose of mental sanity! 😂😂😂
That walk thru the chassis was OUTSTANDING. Love hearing and seeing all the archival poop. I had a 47 Chevy Coupe and put 57 Olds engine in it. we all did it back in the day. Its a great find. Now I will watch the rest of the adventure. D
Nifty, quickie-build! There IS a payoff when you pick up random goodies at regional swap meets and auctions. Someone is gonna buy that sooner than later. You'll have 'em at "nail-head". YES! to more of this mini-adventure, which will only serve to "up the ante" on this sweet rig. Cheers!!!
This is shaping up to be a badass old school hotrod. The guys who build hotrods in the 1950’s did it exactly the way you’re doing this pickup; the used what ever junk they could scrounge. Looking forward to see this one hit the road.
I am loving this build. I am constantly amazed by your knowledge of old cars and trucks. I am realy looking forward to see how this turns out. I think that this is going to be special. Carry on.
Duff in the thumbnail-check. First 10 minutes of Mortske delivering specs like a firehose without a script right from memory-check. Chin allowing for pause to catch your breath-check. Duff tail wagging at 2400 rpm while at idle-check. Thank you Mortske! Love the Duff!
Puddins newly acquired bed tool boxes would be so cool on this as an on tool truck. with weathered Morske signage hope to see more on this build. Hotroddin at it finest
Thomas don't know what you're gonna do with this one,but gotta feeling it's gonna be off the charts cool. Brent has a couple similar and the are so neat. Excited to see your results 🎉
Have to admit. I've been looking forward to seeing this episode.. Love classic hot rod (don't call it a rat rod) builds like this! Thanks for the quality episodes, much appreciated
Hey Mortske it's looking great for just made out of junk parts! Don't stop with the build, well unless it gets sold, but then i'm sure there's another project that you can work on!!
Sweet knowledge drop in the beginning 10 minutes Mortske. Thanks for all that great information.. really awesome starting point, reading the comments I'm just going to agree, whatever you do keep this sweet chassis and get it done one day!! That's probably a really sweet setup!
@@MortskeRepair it’d be worth it to see you happy in that hot rod while on Power Tour while relaying your happiness to us viewers. Throw all your knowledge into this one and show us your version of awesomeness. Once you’re done you can take it to Oklahoma and cruise with Puddin and his someday Model A!
A long time subscriber, I have to say as someone who can’t see, I love the way you narrate everything you do, everything you see, everything you've about to do or work on on a vehicle. You and vice grip garage are two of my favorites on here. Love watching you make history fire up and run again, or the attempts. Always a great sense of humor and you never give up. Keep it up with the so called useless knowledge and tips of the day. Sad that so many things are gone now. Vehicles just lack the character these days, even to me. I found an old Grand wagoneer in a junkyard during high school and that was my school project. Nobody expected a blind guy to be able to do anything in the shop. Next thing I knew everyone in high school with no car but a license was my best friend. Those were the days.
Oh Thomas ! Thoroughly enjoyed this content. This should be your testament - your masterpiece. Please continue on this project. By the way, love my Mortske hat - best hat in my collection - wear it every day. It is my going to town hat. God bless you and yours and all your endeavors !
One of the best videos you've done In a little bit. You're always enjoyable but this was good an very informative. I really try soaking up all the info I can on 30s an 40s stuff
I was a transmission rebuilder back in t⁰he day. The transmission you called a "Saginaw" is actually called a "Light Duty" 3 speed. 1st gear is not synchronized and has 4 bolts that hold down the shifter cover. It was used in many makes of GM vehicles, including 1/2 ton trucks. Tail shaft/housing configuration changed depending on application, ie short shaft, long shaft, sealed driveline housing and flange types. The later model Saginaw 3 speed is syndro'd on 1st gear and has a larger shifter cover with more bolts. GM also made an OD version of both of these transmissions. They also made a 4 speed Saginaw.
"Hot Rodske", I vote you build this one up, it`s in your wheelhouse. That Nailhead sounds super healthy and the chassis is chockful of clever engineering, show us how to build the Vega steering, I`ve only seen finished set ups.
This project is interesting. I told you a long time ago save up the trailers that are made from pickups, they may come handy. Was right with that one cause some of these boxes not so easy to find. What would you use for a radiator? The stock Ford one or something else? I'm sure someone would be mad for cutting up a 30s car but than again unless it was your grandpas very first car. Restoring one back to what it was can be more pain then it's worth.
Been waiting on a project like this ! Love the old fords and a nailhead too ! Thanks again for keeping it cars some other channels are getting ridiculous.
You did reasl good on your frame lesson - The biggest problem with these early X member frames was at the rear because the X is fitted into the frame rails which caused a real rusting issue, where as 41 and up they reversed that C channel into a box type, plus they are longer and wider - so needless to say I had to make a lot of mods on my 40 Ford frame work.
Please spend the next 6 months showing us how you decorate your shop 😂😂😂. Just kidding, I’ve kinds enjoyed the Okie pressure washer sprucing up his new place.
Love to see you finish her up. It great you break down the specs on the motor and trans . Love this rod and the history. Please keep the vids going on hotrod pick em up !
Dear Mr. M: Please whatever you do, please don't start wearing Hawaiian shirts--you'll kinda look like that hot rod builder from California who had the worst reality car program on the TV! 😆
The fact that I see you testing for spark near an open crankcase @22:22, makes me feel like the Y-block ball of fire wasn’t traumatizing enough for you to not put yourself in that potential situation again 😂
Fantastic video. Enjoyed every minute. Duff dog is one happy dog. He brings a smile to my Monday. Fyi .. you are three weeks at number 1 on my top 5 youtubers. Puddin dropped to ninth 😂
These Buick Nailheads were put into Rovers and some MGs (UK) until the late 1990s, they must be not too bad! Nice attempted build to show up on your channel, mate.
Laminated labels on your crates is a good idea, I just laminate blank sheets then write on them with whiteboard marker - means I can easily chop and change contents without re-printing and laminating labels when contents change. Love the channel, keep up the good work!
Such a great start for a nice little hot rod. Good bones to start with, a good frame, a running engine, a truck bed, a cab, etc.. what else can you ask for. This is for the masses. It would great to see you finish it and be able to drive it on the highway & a weekend cruiser.
Hey! Nice to see some of your bits & pieces getting used on what’s going to be a real nice project! Hope we see more of this one. It looked like it was Duff approved so it’s gotta be good to go!
How fast can Duff wag his tail, and how fast can a 401 nail head go??.....at the speed of happiness! Awesome video!

This Hotrod is one of my new favorite creations you've made! We'd love to see a video series on this too!

He got an empty Marvel Mystery jug out of a dumpster and filled it with Great Value ATF fluid. How neat is that! 🤪
Best content in ages, a traditional hotrod build. Great to see your huge stash of 1930s/40s body’s and parts being put to good use.
glad you enjoyed it!
Love how it just barked off like it got parked yesterday. It's no 9 second engine, but it's more than enough power to scare a grown man in that car.
I'm absolutely loving you and Puddin' lobbing shots at each other! It's hilarious 😂
