I think we need to understand the interdependencies of Dairy supply chain to fully grasp the dairy prices. Input to animal feed are agricultural based, which depend on using fertilizer. Fertilizer is petroleum/gas based- we have no control of global petroleum prices- how can we manage dairy prices? Yield per animal in Pakistan is 20% of per animal yield of US( IFCN data) Lack of animal welfare and nutrition needs lead to hi levels of aflatoxins, heavy metals and dehydrated animals- look at the Newzealand model of dairy farming where animals are healthy and happy- thus higher yields. In my 30- years of global dairy supply chain experience,my conclusion is that in Pakistan we don’t take dairy seriously, this is a very technologically advanced field in the rest of the world, here 90+% of milk comes from farmers with less than 10 animals- this is not their primary business, so not much attention is paid to animals. This is a huge business where economies of many countries of the world are based on dairy- Newzealand, Denmark, France etc Hope you continue this series with value add and other aspects of dairy in Pakistan. Thanks
Interesting discussion. Surprising that they gave the example of Turkey but not of India which is the largest milk producer globally. India was the world's largest importer of milk powder but has become a net exporter. Pakistan could have copied the Indian story but politics interferes with common sense
was it a paid promotion? all they care about their input cost with no regard of the farmer. their so called initiatives r good for pictures in their annual report. one way or another, corporate sector is making money from farmers through their web of interconnected companies. corporates talks about cost of milk but ignore costs and availability of fertilizers from their sister concerns to the farmers which drives cost of feed and hence milk.
Do not understand who you consider "learned and knowledgable". Tetra Pak has its origins in the research work done by dr Ruben Rausing to make milk, especially its packaging, safe. Appears you prefer to listen to people who have no scientific understanding of the subject
@@hamzahashmi8891 head of dairy association Shahzad Malik conducts meeting in TETRA OFFICES , promotes packaged milk and runs campaign against lose milk , that’s the whole purpose of PDA formation and his chairman
There should be zero tax on dairy products.
