I grew up filling silo with a 1950's era Fox pull behind(PTO style, but had engine mounts) and I miss those days. To me the new Claas is a symbol of factory farming. It's impressive. It's not necessary. People that think it is also think traveling 40 miles away from the farm to harvest feed is also necessary though. Used to be we fed everyone just fine with the same amount of land. Just had more folks involved in farming it is all. This consolidation is just going to end up putting the farm owners on gov't subsidies which they might as well sell to the gov't then.
Perfect assessment....farming in the USA is essentially ruined. We need more of the populace on the land, not less. The complex infrastructure that is needed in big cities is bankrupting homeowners with tax payments being more than the house payment and that is directly caused by the influx of rural to city transition. Government has failed to create policy that sustains economics of family farms and has destroyed rural America by subsidizing volume of production while ignoring start-ups and financial need that would sustain rural populations.
@@30acreshop_time They weren't built the best, I bought them used, if they got pushed a little they failed, on the upside they were smooth, they didn't ratchet like other wagons of that vintage

The Fox chopper was a fraction of the price compared to the Claas and did the same job.

Well class maybe faster but a real farmer knows his land and cattle and all his animals
