I cried buckets when I saw this. and I rarely cry when watching films. even after the story was done I still cried. this is such a beautiful masterpiece. I'm beyond words....beyond words
Paramedic here, so I figured I could share my opinion on the condition and prognosis. He got stabbed once in the abdomen lower left quadrant, which means neither stomach, splean, liver nor kidneys got damaged. Moreover his left common iliac artery also seems intact, as it'd cause massive internal bleeding thus sending him into hypovolemic shock, which he doesn't show signs of (rapid breath, sweaty skin, hypotermia, fast drop of AVPU consciousness level). Knife stab most likely caused intestinal perforation, which is a life endangering condition due to sepsis and infection, even after receiving surgery. However mortality rate for such patients are fairly low: ranging from 9-15% according to different sources, with quite high morbidity though (aprox 30%). However as he received professional first aid even before an ambulance arrived AND the well staffed hospital (Robert Debré Hospital) is literaly few hundred meters from the place he was stabbed at, unless the directors intention was to have him dead, I'd say the odds are in his favor here.
Just looked at this in my writing class; I would write all of my thoughts down, but notice how the symbols on the monument are like African/Moroccan drawings, with the oxen, and how his song sounds, like a mix of French and some African language; and how "a mosquito bit me" could be a way of saying "I got stabbed," that's the thing I love about short films there are so many options and connection to make Also in the parking lot when she was going the wrong way it said "don't go this way"(?), so it was like she was going away from him but when he called her back it was like she was meeting him for the the first time, before again leaving him. And at the end she looked reluctant to be pulled away because his "death" (which we don't really know yet) is on her now, and one coffee cup was still while the other was trembling violently as if about to fall There's so much I want to say about this clip but I can't put it all down right now lol
Goddamn, this is one of the sweetest, saddest, most moving things I've ever seen. I think it is probably my favorite part of Paris Je t'aime. Makes tears form in my eyes.
What is even more sad, is that the name of the place where the scene took place could be translated as "place of parties". I can't help but imagine this was made by purpose, in an inspiration of Comedia Del Arte.
It is a film "Paris je taime", which contains only these short sequences - but full stories with point. If you have an opportunity to see the whole film, you will understand. And you will cry. I am afraid, the man in this story died. Yes, because people on streets are blind. They see a "black refugee" instead of a human being that might need a help.
Natalia, he was stabbed by another person of African descent (second generation Moroccan?) so, please don't say "people see a black refugee rather than a human being" - he was stabbed by a murdering criminal like the ones who murdered people at the Bataclan, Paris and along La Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Let's please be honest about this!
@@lifeofbenji1556 It was about someone being murdered, not something sweet. And I was correcting Natalia's misrepresentation of what happened. "Getting all political on our asses"...What kind of idiotic comment is that?

Tears stream down my cheeks like mini waterfalls every time I see this short.
This one of my favourite segments of "Paris, je t'aime"
