The thing I found with gen 3 is that even tho they may work sound vice after getting exposed to water, the microphone often take some heavy damage and result in a significant worse quality and give you that "under water sound". The idea here is that sound will push the water out from the speakers, but the microphone doesn't really have this ability.

Well this is great to know for brand new AirPods, but as Apple say, the seal is not forever and I guess that if you shower with them all the time for example, eventually the risk of getting them damaged will be higher

I left mine (iPods 3 ) with the case by accident into the washing machine full cycle for 30 minutes, I noticed them when I was pulling out the clothes, the case was dry and the pods too. I tested em and they worked just fine. Matter of fact, I’m using the babies right now. 😊
The same thing happened to me today, but the charging case was wet on the outside and damp on the inside

Did you dry them and see if they worked? I dropped mine case in all in a river. I retreated them in about 30 seconds from four feet of water. They worked fine.
Were these test done on the same airpod or were they all done on a new set?

I’m often showering with my airpods 2nd gen (~every 2nd day since launch), and have tried going for a swim with them. The microphones are broken, but the sound works perfectly fine. Absurd engineering!

Use a tack to remove the cotton from the bottom of the microphone and they will start working again.
My 1st generation Airpods just got fragile after my sweat tilt on it 😂😂😂😂
Just found my right AirPod in the dryer so it got washed and dried. so far it’s working and sounds just like the left one
I accidentally washed my AirPods, and at first the right AirPod’s sound was horrible but corrected itself in less than a day, but the microphones weren’t working, so I ordered some silica gel packets and put my AirPods (without the case) in a ziplock bag with two silica gel packets and they were back to normal the next day. Hope this helps.
My right airpod 3 fell in a river 💀 and surprisingly they survived, i put them and didnt hear a distortion from the water, im actually really impressed
A little late on this but I have the AirPod pros 2nd gen. The left one was submerged in the pool overnight. I found it cleaned it and dried it. I then plugged it into the case and it is currently charging. Will there be any other ways to try and fix the potential water damage assuming there will be damage?

Hey should try with the waterproof case on. Catalyst and spigen and few others. Just buy more pairs and show us. 😆

One of my airpod (3rd gen) fell into my cat water fountain while I was sleeping. It spent maybe 6 hours submerged in water. Works perfectly fine.

When I was working at UPS my AirPods gen 2 flew out of my pocket while I was running across the road and flew out of the case and landed in a puddle and some how they survived

Well, at least they have some resistance. I just bought a pair of Gen 3s for my jogs. They had a $40 discount brand new, so i went with them instead of the 2nd gen. It's a much better design than the galaxy bud pros i had that were literally made to fall out of your ears every 30 seconds when you run with them
My ones (AP3) went through a cycle in the case and they worked fine, one was quite so I suck the speaker end to get any moisture out and they went back to normal

OMG, I tried this technique just now, and it actually worked! They seem fine now
I have the 3rd Gen AirPods. I had the right piece in my ear and the left piece was in the case. The case fell into the toilet and I did not hesitate to grab it out. Toilet only had water in it, thank god! After washing my hands I put isopropyl on a paper towel and wiped down the exterior of the case. After I opened the case I found hardly any moisture inside. I wiped down the left piece and the internals of the case again with isopropyl. I don’t have Apple care for this product but luckily it survived.
i have actually put my first airpods the original ones gen 1 in the washing machine & drier they were in the box & survived i used them for 2 years after that never had an issue it's pretty insane

I have third gen airpods which I got only a few days ago for my birthday and yesterday night when I went to use the bathroom, the case fell in the toilet after falling out of my shorts pocket. I cleaned it out with alcohol and let it dry for the rest of the night and it worked fine. I was wearing the airpods themselves so they didn’t get wet.
They might work but the battery level will disappoint you, what happened with me was one of my airpods fell in water, I soaked it, worked fine but it’s battery duration was considerably reduced than the other one
could it repair with the next battery charge?

I just took mine out of the washing machine it is working still but, not the same audio qualities it is much different, and the mic isn't working.

seems ive been very unlucky. mine were in their case in a raincoat pocket for about 10 minutes. water got in the zipped pocket (fail), water got in the case (fail), right earphone very quiet (fail)

my AirPods Gen’ 3 been through everything and the results are regretting the right pod is half filled with water to dis day and it js shakes around the pod giving out a crazy bass effect which is not suitable to me it has the same volume but the bass is bad and my left pod has good sound quality but it’s on quiet side and the sum be careful with your your AirPods because you’ll regret it later

Difference between the Pro and 3rd Gen is that the Pros have bud tips and the 3rd Gen doesn’t. The Pros have Noise Cancelling

My husband didn’t check my coat pockets when washing clothes and he washed my AirPods in the washing machine the buds were still in the case …. I can hear through them just fine but I don’t think the person on the other line can hear me, also seri won’t respond to me when my AirPods are connected to my phone

My airpods pro survived a washing machine cycle of 90 minutes. Audio was a little bit funny to begin with shushing sound but after a month the sound was normal

I literally just washed my right AirPod in the washing machine didn’t notice until I pulled it out of the dryer immediately put it in the charging case as it was dead then came to UA-cam to watch this video while it charged a bit. I just put them both in my head and they both work perfectly fine.!!! I got lucky!!!
Apple loves to make tiny updates and hit you over the head along the way with the prices smh. There use to be a time when they made exponentially progressive drops.

I accidentally left them in my sweatpants and washed them in the washer machine. The case was in a Dbrand case and when I finally realized what happened, I found them, one of the pods came out during the cycle. Yikes. I left them to dry overnight before attempting to use them and they seem to be okay. 😅😅😅. For now….😅😅😅😅

My AirPods 3 went in washing machine and it turned out of order. Luckily Apple care changed for me in smaller amount. So I don’t believe this

I had mine in a 10 minute wash it was just a rinse and spin cycle no detergent and I was like oh no. I’m real bad about just having any of my earpro devices in my pants pockets and washing them even the $10 cheap kind as far as a full Landry wash and a full dry cycle and this happens a lot and there’s never a problem. But I take no chance with these I’ve only had them 3 days it’s 2022 my wife just got them for me for Christmas 😮 but all is fine

Man I dropped my AirPods 3rd gen in the toilet tdy I was so mad but I grabbed it as fast as possible I was so disgusted and mad at the same time but thanks to God I was able to clean them really good and re clean with alcohol. Plus wash my hands 3-4 times and take 2 showers everything worked out though never again will I clean a toilet with my AirPods in . Lesson learned .

@@veridia_ over time , people can’t hear your voice anymore. More like muffled. You can hear them and music is still good but more frustrating when receiving calls. So I just traded them out . The new pros are amazing. For now that is lol./
