    In my opinion Eric the absolute best just doesn't exist.
    What is the best for one person might not be the best for another person.
    We might also like one thing today only to find out that tomorrow we have a different preferences and so I'm with you, the variety is everything.
    Great honing video my friend! Wishing you a happy Sunday!

    Very audable gritty noice on the naturals. Very efficient Cutters., quieter with oil ?...i occasionally bevel set on coticules, all the way to shave ready on one stone 😊 . Glad your sacrificial cherry tomatoes are ripening, shush 🤫
    dont alarm them 😂 !

    Thanks for sharing. You had some great finds with those stones. I have a couple Washita stones as well. One is for knifes and the other razors. They have such a creamy texture to hone on. It is very unique. Have you tried Hindostan hones? They are more grity feeling but cut nicely. I use mine with a coticule slurry with it, and it works fantastic for bevel setting. I would highly recommend them if you can get one or two.
    Cheers!

      I don’t have a Hindostan, but I am always looking 😜. You should do a video on it!

      @@BigEShaves That would be nice, but sadly I have no way of showing the scratch pattern and its cutting qualities.

      Nice talk. I do like my Washita Lily White. I consider it a rare find.

    Nice honing video Eric! I have not tried setting a bevel on a natural stone. I think mostly because the synthetics are so easy. I am going to try it though. I think it’s good to be able to fully utilize what you have.

      Well am as much a stone collector as I am a shaver/honer. I like to figure out naturals. I should also point out that none of it is necessary. Modern synthetics work just fine. I would not suggest starting anyone’s honing journey on naturals. I do think that most folks tend to eventually cross over. Once I did, it made it hard to be excited about honing on synths.

      I can understand that. I find myself gravitating more towards natural stones the more I use them.

    I think after trying the edge of the washita I would say it might be ok if after honing on it to do some pastes and a ton of strops to get a smooth shave. It wasn’t bad, but I’d rather feel my Mizu finish on my face during a shave lol. That’s a very impressive collection of Washita!

      @BigEShaves  2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, it’s not a finisher, or mid range for that matter. But it does impress me how aggressive it is yet smooth the bevel looks. It does good prep work for the next stone. If a man had a finisher coti, that don’t cut it as a bevel setter. That would pair well with a Washita.

    I enjoyed this video. I’m going to have to get out my Dan’s soft and hard Arkansas.

      I have yet to pick up a soft Ark. But that’s going to be one of my next stones.
