Great to see you finally caught a fish Sue. If you were wondering why it took so long to land the fish, it's because the drag was set to light. When you lift the rod after winding, and here the reel go "zzzzzzzzzzzz", that's the line peeling off again. Just tighten the knob on the front of the reel a bit. Tight lines.👍
Hey Sue great to see you finally catch something, persistance pays. Just go easy with the rod nice and smooth lift the rod wind the reel as you lower the rod keeping even presure on the line. Don't jerk the rod around or allow the line to become slack. Most of all don't give up.
Yeeeaaaahhhhhh ! Well done Sue 🍾🥂great effort. Keep going you’ll get another one soon and hopefully it will be able to be on the plate !!! 😅 So excited I nearly wet myself 😂😂😂
Sue pull the lure through the water very slowly without winding, by pulling back on the rod and let it sit for a few seconds, then wind up the slack, as you offer the rod forward and down towards the water. Repeat the process by pulling slowly back on the rod, no winding and lower the rod forward again and wind and stop. Oh and by the way, I have never caught anything either.
Congratulations SS persistence reveals its rewards as a very keen angler it is so frustrating watching you fishing. About 8 o’clock turn the boat lights on under water wait for the bait fish to show up some table scraps will help, you should see some bigger fish on the edge of the light show themselves a single hook and some bait meat or fish cast towards the cruising fish and hang on. You can also cast your lures. When next onshore buy some hooks and sinkers plus some squid bait sinker on first then tie on the hook and just drop to the bottom then wind up 12 inches you don’t want to get tangled in the reef good luck cheers Choco 🎣🎣🎣
Goodonya Sue. You need to set the rod up correctly, look on UA-cam to see how to set it up with a running sinker, you also have the drag to loose on the reel. Good luck 🎣
Tighten up the drag a bit on the reel. Maybe 50%. Enought that you can still gain line when reeling, but enough to allow some give if it's a big fish. That fish is a remora.
Can't believe that Sam hasn't learnt how to fish. Rex is a mate. Probably has a school of macho fishing mates. Has a sailing boat. Sea = Fish. It's akin to going to the snow and not learning how to ski. Sue, thought you would have appreciated some non-verbal time with Sam. 😅 I know I would! Would do my head in eventually. 🤪 Love the banter, but he does go on a bit. 😛
Lure choice dubious, but Sue's reeling technique is much improved! Sam the antitheses of Sir David Attenborough with his bash first identify species later approach 🤣🤣🤣
Sue, you caught a remora, well done. Remora are eatable. There’s not much meat recovery, hard to fillet because of the rough thick skin and large body cavity. But yes, they are pretty tasty. Keep trying.
Got yourself a remora fish there mate. A sucker fish as we called them in the bush. You can eat ‘em but they taste like shit. Better just throw em back in to the drink. Sorry got to get back to my beer luv.
Your putting bait on a lure again🤦♂️ and tighten the drag on the reel, it’s the black knob at the front, turn it a little bit at a time that’ll help reeling them in.
The fact that you killed that fish was nothing short of a criminal act ! Why didn’t you just keep it alive in an esky with some water? I and many others think that it was a deplorable act of pure self indulgence, because you just wanted to be a Big Man and kill something . You could have sent a pic to Rex.
Tighten the Drag on the reel Sue. The knob on top. (Not sam)
You killed it Sam, The rule is, you kill it you eat it if you're not going to eat it release it,
Love Sue’s persistence! Well done Sue OAM! Even if you can’t eat it. That sunset was beautiful. Love to see more!

Try fishing with Allen Snakes !!!! It works really well.
Maybe try some soft plastic lures for some bottom dwellers instead of the hard body lures? Might have more success trying that option?
Sensational ❤️BG
Can we start a crowd-funding for Rex to get up there?
Bend the first eyelet on the rod down.
Tighten the drag on the reel, but not to much.

pop down to the local tackle store and get them to show you how to rig it up and catch edible fish...

Such drama! More fun than watching The Footy Show
Beating the crap out of a non edible fish,,,,,only kill what u can eat Sam ,,,
perhaps you could support your good mate Rex Hunt and actually purchase one of his books and learn to catch a fish.
Remora fish.
Tighten the drag up FFS
They sea water is good for wounds but clean ocean water not where you guys are ocean open water
Good on you Sue. Sam, stop your whinging!
Cannot believe you killed that fish without checking first if it was edible! So cruel and unnecessary
Did we kiss yet?
