I just purchased a GC1715 and appreciate your information. I understand a manual is supplied for the maintenance information, however, a video with hands on always helps less book smart people.
Glad it helped! And welcome to the Massey Ferguson Family the worlds largest family of tractor owners! Keep watch and be sure to share some video of your tractors in action.
Doug, I really appreciate your videos, very helpful and informative. I just took delivery of a new 2017 GC1710tlb last Friday, excellent machine and worth far more to me than what I paid. It was discounted because it had been on the lot for a few months and had 4.3 hours on it. I could not have made a better choice after testing, driving and researching SCUT's for nearly a year and your videos went a long way in my making the decision to go with Massey. Thanks again for the great videos, I've watched them for a while now and hope you make more. Best Regards!
Glad we could be of help in your research. We love our Masseys too. Share some videos of your Massey in action so we can share with our customers and potential buyers.
Really appreciate this video. It reinforces building a good relationship with your dealership. Your video also reminded me that I'm overdue for a preventative maintenance service. Have a fine weekend. Enjoyed a full-watch. 👍🏽🙂
Glad it helped. Massey Ferguson has been doing several maintenance videos too. Be sure to check them out. They good resource too. Thanks for watching and commenting.
First is to loosen the Alternator and get belt around fan (may need to remove fan blade) once around fan, crankshaft and alternator pulley use alternator adjustment to tighten the v-belt.
We have not done a flushing radiator video. Follow the Flushing Chemical Instructions normally require warming engine to normal operating range then draining flushing solvent. Then reinstall coolant 50/50 Mix is recommended for most areas for freeze protection.
Watching your videos makes me miss my lil gc1710. Dang divorces. Gotta love'em, huh?!? I plan on getting me another one, though. Preferably the gc1720 this time. Watching your videos actually got me to buy my first one. You had me sold on these baby tractors. I live in KY, or I would have got one from you to help you out. Have you ever watched Paul Short? He's a great friend whom loves tractors, too. I always like to recommend his videos, especially his tractor mod videos. He's an "orange tractor" guy, but we won't tell. 😉 He talked one time about going to a different brand. Who knows. Maybe he will be a "red tractor" guy with a toy like yours. GOD Bless, Sir.
Thanks for the Kind Words! That makes it worthwhile to do these videos. Buying a Massey Ferguson is enough support...you deserve that local dealer support and always recommend buying local. I've seen some of Mr. Short's videos he's good with his content. I tell people daily don't buy because of the color or logo, buy for the right reasons...what's under the paint and past the logo and most of all what's BEST for YOU. I believe that's Massey Ferguson but it is your investment and your money.
Can you supply a part number for the Agro oil hose that fits gallon and quart size bottles? Also any chance you could post that sheet that gives info on filters and oils needed for the 50 hour service? My dealer here in VA didn’t provide anything other than the driver that delivered the tractor (1725) would need to be serviced at 50 hours. THANKS
We custom build those for each tractor as we sell as a value added service of buying from Vahrenberg Implement. Ask your dealer to create one for you. We create our custom maintenance charts from the Schedule Maintenance Programs from the Tractors Operators Manual.
My 2017 GC 1710 took a major crap on me with just 620 hours on it. It through something through the button of the rear housing of the hydronic case right next to the drain pug. No warning, no nothing, and something major let loose. Every drop of hydronic oil was on the ground in a matter of seconds. I’m pissed.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience, but that doesn't sound like a common occurrence for this model. Have you had your dealer inspect to see what happened? GC Series have been very trouble free product but things can happen. Why we invest lots of time and dollars in service training, specialty shop tools and service equipment, so if something happens we can resolve quickly and the most economically for customers.
Thanks didn't want it to sound like infomercial but there is lots of cool tools from AGCO Parts that can help owners perform their Preventative Maintenance. Keep watching and keep making your own videos we love watching them too!
At 11:54 in the video you recommend the AGCO Hi Temp EP-2 grease which I believe is part number 79014733, but my GC1723E manual calls for "AGCO Multi-Purpose Lithium II Grease or equivalent" which is part number 79014728. Any reason for the difference? Thanks!
79017433 is a Rykon Poly Urea Based Grease which can hold more lubricants & additives versus Lithium Based Greases. Think of the base like a sponge as the components move and heats up the lubricants and additives become more liquid and move to lubricate. When you stop using the base soaks back up the lubricants & additives. If you use a Poly Urea style base it has more holding capacity than Lithium Base. Lithium is the bare minimum Poly Urea is a High Grade and better grease and only 38 cents difference in price.
You forgot to mention the hydro screen that is behind the left (as sitting on the tractor) rear wheel, and some other small things like lubing the front drive shaft.
Interesting. First, thanks for the info, video quality and time. I just purchased a 1723EB. Only 3hrs right now. Manual calls for 10W30. Is there a discrepancy? Dealers run 15W40 from what I hear. Albeit, I would like to stick to the manual but I’m open. I have a huge supply of Schaeffer’s 10W30 and 15W40.
The New Manuals after this video was done now recommends for most climates 10W30 but also list alternative weights depending on Maximum and Minimum Temperature in your region. in severe colder climates 5W30 Synthetic is recommended. Consult your operators manual for recommended oils for your climate.
I've never seen a manual saying anything other then 5w30/10w30 viscosities to be used in the ISEKI engine, I don't know why some dealers push 15w40 that thick oil is not needed.
Just looked at all 4 Operators Manuals GC2300, GC2400/2600, GC1705, 10, 15,20 Manual and when running in ambient temperatures above 14°F you can use 15w40 MultiGaurd Engine Oil. The New GC1723E & GC1725M do not recommend 15W40. 10W30 CC Rating or Above is Most Recommended but can run Straight Weight oils based on Temperature Range of use. Most 5W30 Oils are not Diesel Rated. We are recommending 10W30 CJ4 for use in our area on the current GC1723E & GC1725M.
@@VahrenbergImplement thanks for the clarity on the older models. There are a few brands now producing a 5w30 HDEO CK-4(backward compatible to previous API Cx oils), Mobil, Amsoil, Rotella to name a few. I'm glad to see you guys are recommending the correct viscosities like I said I hear many don't
Yes it does now on the latest edition that 5w30 (CJ-4) or 10w30 (CJ-4) about the same time the Engine Oil Filter Changed to different product on the GC Series.
I have a 2002 mt265 challenger which is the same as a 1433 massey I am needing a loader valve joystick and was wondering were to hook the hyd hoses up on the tractor the inlet power beyond, return to tank.
We didn't get started with the Massey Ferguson Brand till 2008. But looking at MT265 parts book on www.agcopartsbooks.com the Loader Joystick was built into the tractor. Do not know if that was standard equipment or option on those models. If your adding a loader mounted valve the loader valve manufacturer normally supplies a power beyond plate to match the tractor your are working with. Maybe you can explain more what you have and trying to do. Or give us a call and might be able to direct to a dealer that was selling those products that can help 660-584-2250
Does AGCO/Massey Ferguson have a second air filter available for inside the large round filter? I know some of the other sub-compacts do and it looks like there might be a holder for a smaller inner filter. Just wondering. Thanks for all your work on these video!
Not on this tractor. But larger tractors do offer dual element. The Inner Element is only a safety if something happens to the outer like a puncture or tear.
Vahrenberg Implement Ok. Thanks for the information. Competitors tractors in this size do have an optional filter you can add. I just wondered. Thank you!
As long as you Maintain the Filter per the operators manual you should not have a need for a dual element on this size tractors. Just an added expense most will never need. If your working in extremely dusty environment like a dirty hayfield or dirt field for 8, 10, 12 hours a day and don't check and clean the air cleaner then I could see the added expense. It's very rare in our 66 years to see even professional farmer's tractors that need the safety element changed.
Vahrenberg Implement Correct. But it would give some peace of mind. As fast as the clean out screen gets filled when mowing with the belly mower, if one was available, I would use it. Thanks for your reply.

what grease do you recommend. Also do you recommend certain grease in cold or hot conditions and or different grease for the front end loader portion of tractor vs rest of the tractor that needs grease thanks for the videos you do on Massey!
We recommend the AGCO EP-2 Grease it is a premier multipurpose grease for all temperature applications and all types of applications loader, pto, steering joints, etc. It's a Rykon Poly-Urea Grease that offers more storage capacity of the lubricants and additives to provide superior service and longer life than lithium grease. Grease is constructed with a base product Lithium or Polyurea which acts like a sponge then the lubricants and additives are blended as the equipment is uses the additives & lubricants are released from the base or sponge during use or rise in temperature from heat or friction. When you stop the base or sponge soaks up the addititives & lubricants to be ready for the next operation of the equipment. EP-2 provides a higher dropping point and can be used in high temperature applications and makes it a better use for more than just a common Lithium Grease.
We recommend using AGCO Parts D-Max Winter Fuel Additive if you still have summer fuel left in the tractor going into the winter season. It doesn't hurt to run the regular D-MAX Conditioner all year long. It improves the Cetane Rating of the Fuel and emulsifies water and keep carbon cleaned from the combustion chambers. it only takes a little D-Max to go long ways. Your Massey Ferguson Dealer can get AGCO Parts D-Max Products. One thing you need to watch many products are large volume containers but require large dosing rates as most of the product is petroleum distillates or filler. Active Ingredients is what mattes and dosage rate for protection. That's why we recommend the AGCO Parts D-MAX Products plus it's AGCO Service Approved and you want have to worry if it's approved for use in your engine.
