That fact that this is even up for debate is a telling fact of where things are
They keep saying they helped create Hip hop but to this day they don't have any documentation. They haven't produced any posters, flyers leaflets, Xerox copies of concerts, school parties, public park battles etc. We have documentation showing all of that going back to the mid to late 1970's....facts💯
The CYPHER...The end all and be all...
GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!
Fat Joe likes to say BS a run, KRS1 has never been challenged, Crazy Legs is on video saying that he got it from the Blacks and Busta is already losing money and found out the Ragge Heads and Puerto Ricans don’t go to his concerts. I love the challenge but these guys don’t want that really check. For centuries in this country the White Man has taken our inventions and culture and now our Brothers want to take to but no more.
Bob Marley already said that American Music influenced Reggae and Fat Joe doesn’t claim Disco; that looks more like Salsa, but he wants to claim Hip Hop….crazy.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
If HipHop is something “We Live” like KRS said he would should most definitely have a debate/conversation

@@Black____ WE BLACK AMERICANS DONT OWNNNNNN SHITTTTT SO WHATS YOUR POINT SIR????
There are no videos of Jamaicans beefing over who created hiphop
Why would anyone argue this fact?
Im a 46 year old Puerto rican, born and raised all over queens NY..mainly Corona. Hiphop was created by the young, black community, theres no question. The young Puerto ricans, since they were also in the hood.. naturally Integrated, and were 110% "accepted" INTO what was already created. Black folks didnt think twice about it.. our presence wasnt even questioned. The young Puerto ricans werent seen as outsiders who were allowed to partake in the culture..we were already in the HOOD culture. Its not like we were staring out windows, watching what yall did,and wished to be part of it,and got the green light to join in...we were present when black folks created hiphop music. But,make no mistake, we lived that street shit TOGETHER. So maybe that's where the issue is, since we were also there, on that corner..on them sidewalks..in them building lobbies..on them stoops..on them fire escapes..on them rooftops..on that stick up kid shit..on them playgrounds..on that dope gear wearing mentality.. TOGETHER,than perhaps it gets misconstrued that we also was part of the creation of hiphop..especially when sht that was happening on the streets, were put into hiphop lyrics..and the sht that was happening on the streets, puerto ricans were a big part of.
Now, THIS is a nuanced take. Props for this! 🫡 The element of the debate that I don't like is that heads are missing that people of Afrikan descent created hip-hop; period, whether they were from the continental US, Jamaica, PR, or wherever else. I think it's clear that our African-American family laid the foundation for the Culture and the sound, but they too were influenced by the diaspora from the beginning. You can't talk about the Amerikkkan south without talking about places like Haiti and the Bahamas (iykyk). I heard Fat Joe say once, "all this $%#+ is Afrikan." He is correct. I hope that point makes it to fore as opposed to the tribal rhetoric. That said though, big up the American Afrikans for this mighty rendition of our Ancestors' gifts! Big ups to you for giving a balanced take that assigns credit, but makes what was plain known ✊🏿
Real talk!
I’m 46 also and honestly don’t think that’s old enough to really comprehend Hip Hops origins from an “I was there perspective”, I was only 10yrs old in 1988 and definitely couldn’t comprehend the dynamics.
@@lirrflaco I did not say i was there at its inception..I said I know who created hiphop..and young puerto ricans were there..and naturally were PART of it due to the fact that we were completely present. You can imagine how many of the older Puerto ricans and black folks that I knew and even hung out with, friends, family etc. ..when I was 10 that were there at the inception. Which wasnt THAT long ago from 1988...and I listened and loved all the stories. Also, Notice I said YOUNG puerto ricans..because i witnessed,as was mentioned before by others, that the older, freshly here from the island, Puerto ricans (mainly parents) were not trusting of the African American community.

Jamar , don't be surprised if no one steps up and accepts this challenge. Busta Rhymes and Pete Rock should know better. So honestly with everything Jamar is saying, I’m trying to understand where y’all see the lies and where the Xenophobia is coming from???
It’s just another case of Afro-American culture trying to be stripped down and be seen as less than and/or having the ownership taken away.
It's not xenophobia because I'm sure he ain't scared of Jamaicans or Puerto Ricans, but I think the discussion is silly because what's the point?
It's not like if we all agree that Hip Hop was created SOLELY by black Americans that our problems will magically disappear.
I'm more concerned about the prospect of WW3 than who created Hip Hop. Nobody is even questioning who created Hip Hop, some people just wanna acknowledge that people of other groups were supportive of it at the beginning.

The true fact is that this is non-issue as far as West Indians and Puerto Ricans go.
You see Puerto Ricans or West Indians making a scene about this? These cats stopped worrying and talking about this over a year ago. Its just that masterminds calling themsellves 'FBA' like Tariq Nasheed found out that they can further increase clout as well as make big money by dragging this out, so they keep putting the battery in the back of the FBA crowd. Ricans are only mad at this point because they keep getting harassed by random cats calling themselves "FBA" over this hip hop thing, which ends up now with some of them saying some out of pocket isht in retaliation.. which then opens a new can of worms. Jamaicans ignore this whole topic altogether as it doesnt matter much to them who created hip hop and it never did.
With that said, the one Rican guy that said PRs 'created hip hop 50/50 with BA', was wrong and Busta Rhymes was all the way wrong for saying Black Americans "didnt have a culture". Both of those guys shouldve humbled themselves afterwards. Instead, they allowed masterminds to stir up the hornets nest.
Any divisions caused between groups was the whole intent of the people that keep hyping this up, but when was the last time you saw a sheep rebel against a shepherd?
Lastly, I just wanna make clear that this is some internet shit, very very few people with their feet on the actual ground in the world actually give a dam about any of this. PEACE..

Hip Hop didn't start on a certain day in the 70s! It grew out of the youth resistance culture of that time as an extension of FBA music. Puerto Ricans, Jamaicans, and others were few in our schools and clubs in Jersey and certainly not in the forefront until record companies started getting involved. Graffiti was considered anti social, but I remember the young Black kids in Manhattan doing these rhymes along with dance moves on the ground. Street culture in general was FBA led! Turntables have been around from the 60s in my city in Jersey.
But with respect, that's Jersey. In the East Bronx is where the concept of Hip Hop with rap was developed, then it spread to Jersey, but it's from the Bronx. Also, Crazy Legs (who is PR) and the RSC were doing their thing not long after that. Crazy Legs and/or his crew were from my 'hood on Amsterdam Avenue between 100th and 101st Streets in Douglass Projects in Manhattan, 830 Amsterdam Avenue to be specific, 2 blocks south from where I grew up.
@skineyemin4276 See, I think where people are getting confuse. Your talking about race or ethnicity. However, we are talking about the culture of the people. Latin culture nor any other played a part in the growth of hip hop. This thing of our was solely bases or the creativity of black American culture. We not saying Latinos weren't there or didn't participate. But they were influenced by what came out of the black culture...thats it.

Pete DJ Joines was much older then Bam & Flash he is the one who showed Flash how to hook up equipment. Everyone in NYC Knew Pete DJ Jones had the best system. And passed his knowledge. All the early Dj's before Flash and Bam played Clubs and brought Sound Systems from Sam ASH. Kids where to young to go to clubs so we just took the speakers outside. They would borrow the older Djs Equipment. It had nothing to do with Jamacian Sound Clash Systems.
Salute to Lord Jamar for pulling up on these chumps that are pushing this false narrative that Puerto-Ricans and Jamaicans created Hip-Hop. All parties that back this narrative, African Americans (FBA) should boycott anything they are apart of, record sells, concerts, features etc. To come in somebody’s house and claim it as your house is a crime against humanity. Let’s show them how powerful the FBA money is by not supporting them. All these dudes are food for Lord Jamar. Peace
