Amazing collection. I've always been extremely fascinated by toilets. The ones with U shaped toilet seats made me feel uneasy as a child. Each one has it's own personality.
Amazing collection of toilets - my favourites are the decorated Puritas Washdown Closet, the Royal Doulton and the collection of Siphonic Flush toilets (Shanks, Twyford Vortic, The Burgundy Coloured Twyford, and the Amitage Ware) which in my opinion should be brought back into use in the UK but using the 'Siphonic/Vortex Jet' system that the Americas now use (which they can flush even solid waste easily with 4 litres or even less at around 3 litres of water) with the modern valve type cistern fittings! It is nice to see all these toilets preserved!
Great video, thank you for sharing it with us.The vitrA toilet that you have there on the far left has an elbow with a low heel inlet. My toilet had a three inch copper elbow with a side inlet and as a result my toilet was prone to clogs because as the toilet paper and waste traveled through the three inch copper elbow past the side inlet the toilet paper and waste would obstruct the side inlet of the copper elbow which connected to a one and a half inch vent pipe.I changed the copper waste lines on the stack that connected my toilet,my kitchen sink, bathroom sink and bath tub drain into the three inch cast iron stack to three inch PVC,I used a three inch PVC elbow with a low heel inlet and my toilet flushes without any issues now.I also used long turn elbows and I couldn't be happier. For the life of me I cannot understand how when the plumber connected the copper drain pipes he failed to realize that using a three inch copper elbow with a side inlet instead of using an elbow with a low heel inlet to connect the toilet would cause problems because the toilet paper and waste traveling past the side inlet can and will obstruct the inlet and thus interfere with venting the drain stack and especially when the drain line is three inch pipe.My next upgrade will be from my old American Standard toilet to a new TOTO Drake 1.6gpf/.8gpf with tornado flush because my American Standard toilet is old and also a water hog.My house is a half double that was converted to a single house from two half doubles and I don't know how or why the contractors that did the conversion were able to get away with so many short cuts and violations like they did being that major structural changes to any and all homes requires permit approvals and all kinds of inspections after structural changes have been made.In fact the venting on the plumbing fixtures was terrible,I kept getting sewer smells in the house and to add insult to injury S traps were used. When ever I would use my toilet and flush I could hear gurgling from both my bathroom sink and my bath tub which is how I know that the side inlet on the copper elbow that was connected to my toilet for venting would become obstructed by the toilet paper and waste leaving my toilet when ever I flushed because my toilet would siphon the water out of the bathroom sink and bath tub traps and thus allow sewer gas into my house.
Still wonder why the Americans (in a broad sense, including Canadians, Central and South Americans too) went on with the syphonic and the British eventually kept the wash down. Some companies also tried to bring syphonic bowls to Italy in the 50-60-70s (such as Ideal Standard and Pozzi Ginori) but they were soon shun in favor of wash down too...
Could anyone tell me where I could get a spare syphon/flush valve for a "kingston standard"? Syphonic toilet an airex fitment won't work. Is it at all possible? Many thanks
you could try a place called online brokenbog, if its the sort of syphon im thinking of they are extremely rare / hard to find. thats all i can suggest or if possible repair the one you have. good luck :)
sparkyfireworks a regular 11" syphon and siliconed up the 2 syohon jet hole in cistern! I don't know how it didn't leak. Customer said it was done about 19 years ago. If you have any handy tricks even with a modern equivalent unit I'm all ears!!
Patrick Murray wow! thats incredible lol, all though without that original airex fitted i bet it doesnt flush very well. ive been trying to come up with a solution but its the aspirator system on that loo that makes it difficult. are you able to post a video of it?
Very nice video indeed. Liking a lot of stuff here. Nice to see the VitrA and old Royal Doulton Ashton still fighting fit. Love the Carlford too. Do you still have the green one? And interesting to see the model name on the Sandringham on the right. Never seen the model name on an AS pan on the right before. All lovely. Also, is that the Armitage Ware flushing the original 20 litres again?
cheers! yeah they are both flushing well and the armitage ware still flushes that much water lol. it would be less if i fit a older style fill valve but the quiet ones ate sometimes good in these loos. the armitage ware also has the model name on the right into the ceramic but its not very clear. im going to do loads of videos now.
Glad to hear it. Looking forward to seeing them. Oh right, how odd. I've only ever seen model names on Armitage Shanks products on the left hand side of the pedestal. Seen the same on a few Shanks pans but didn't know if Armitage Ware was the same. Only things I'v seen of theirs have been one syphon and some vintage floorstanding urinals at a hotel.
pashastookie oh aye yeah it’s deffo powerful enough, flushes lots of random things down this particular loo lol, In my will it flush playlist there’s lots of the unitas flushing all sorts down.
Imagine the look on a burglar's face if he broke in here. Like what does this guy do, invite his friends over for a few beers and a nice communal shit?
seaco2000 I agree. With all these toilets he made he should open or make his own museum specifically for toilets and he can tell everyone where he found each one.
I can make a video of flashing my toilet to, I just don't get what is going on here, the only reason why I seen this my son loves to watch these idk y.. Lol but good set up man..👏👏

I have always loved old toilets for some reason
Is there one big drain pipe or do they all have their own dedicated drain
They all connect to one main drain

The 2nd one flushed aggressively haha!! 😂😂Btw nice. some toilets are so beautiful

Where did you take your Shanks Carlford ?
They're a good set up. Very similar to Australian toilets
Yea...

Неплохая коллекция. Особенно 19 века, тот который с высоким баком. Подобный унитаз с баком у меня был. Но вместо дерево, бак был чугунным!
Lol I like the ones with those 2 cute fill holes in the back :)
Like how they help fill the tank
what's the one with the 40's 50's era style base looks old
2:36 sounded like a nice fountain. I love the 5:26 one so decorated! 😍 oh and the one before it.
Oh shanks carlford in 2:36?
5:46 which toilet is it?
How did you find that mini toilet?
You should open up as toilet museum
Why in the hell did I wake up at 3 AM to this video playing? Why do you have so many toilets? Where can i buy these some of them are beautiful?

That is the most awesome collection! And a great video too. Congratulations!
I remember when I went to London, seeing a lot of concealed tank toilets. I did see a high tank too.
I personally like the toilet that is a medium height tank and has a wooden seat . It's such a beauty . Where'd you find it and what toilet is it??😀
Do these toilets even connect to public sewers or where do they go after the pipe?
Awesome setup mate! Given me some ideas for my shed.
