I flipped my 136 this weekend, coming back in Carolina Beach Inlet. The bow stuffed when a wave hit from behind and pitched it over. I thought of this video and tried to flip it, but with gear hanging underneath I just couldn’t get it flipped until I was rescued. Now I’m finding out the trolling motor isn’t water proof, and is behaving very erratically. You didn’t have any problems with the trolling motor after submerging? Thanks for this video!
I am also curious as to how the electrics work after being submerged ...fish finder , motor controls , battery would old town cover the motor if it got wet ?
Excellent demo video. Not only did it show me the ability of the autopilot 120 you also showed me how to flip the kayak back over should I flip it. Thank you for the tips excellent video
It’s still going strong. I sold that kayak to a guy and it still works great for him. Those motors are waterproofed just like a normal Minn Kota trolling motor.
I’ve been looking at this model. I was really impressed by how stable it appears to be. I’m 73 years old, about 6’3”, and hit about 260lbs, so I’m looking for something that will carry my size, easily. Even more important than that, I was in a bad car accident about a year and a half ago, and now my stability is a bit shaky, so I really need something that will keep me in the boat, rather than out of it. Thanks for the great info. I think this will be my next purchase…👍👍
Wow now that was amazing I was very hesitant about buying because afraid of stability but now I’m convinced thank you so much for taking the plunge into the cold water for us and as always great video
One of the most entertaining videos I think I've watched! Out of all the fishing related kayak videos I've clicked on, yours was the most relevant to me at the moment due to the fact that my autopilot 136 is on its way as we speak and I am more than excited! I most definitely subscribed to your channel because of this video. See you soon for more content!
not only hard to flip, but easy to get up on the bottom and then flip it back upright. Caught no fish, but, great way to re-direct the video. Good Job! 🎣👍😊😎🎣
As always great video... Side topic any interest in helping a guy move to Tennesee... No not with money or move in with ya or have you move boxes... I mean like housing and job info
Haha now that's an outro! Thanks for the amusement and that is crazy how stable that was. I figured once you went to standing on the side it would go. Then I was thinking...I'm not sure he's going to be able to flip that back over very easy...lol. Thanks also for showing the dry hatch, I was wondering how that handled it - like a CHAMP!
You have done the ultimate reviews on this product I have ever seen. I’m a new subscriber and have been watching some of your previous videos. Old Town should be very proud to have you do what you do and have done for their products. Thanks !!
Awesome test. I was out here in northern alberta and went in 50⁰f water a few weeks ago on my nucanoe flint. 68⁰f water would be awesome to get into. But the test looked wicked and I plan on getting a 136 ap for next year
This needs waay more views. Always wondered how hard itd be to right a trolling motor kayak. I bet if you had a paracord that was attached to one of the sides with a stirrup loop attached you could step into it and right it over in a jiffy
Hey man I have a question. I'm looking for a spinning rod to throw smaller Keitech's (2.8, 3.3) and other small swimbaits on (open hook). Was looking at the Lews TP-1 Black. Was looking at the 7' medium as well as the 7' med-light. But I haven't been able to get my hands on them to check them out. You have any experience with either of these rods? If so, which would you recommend?
I've not had a TP-1 Black spinning rod but I have several of the casting rods and love them. I do however have the Custom spinning rod and it is amazing. Very light, sensitive, and minimalist design. You can check it out here bit.ly/3b4OHAF
Great video my dude. My wife has our table bowl full of YORK Patties and freezer as well her favorite 🤣. ..Bobbbyyyy. can't type it like u lol. Thanks brother. Man i want that AP even more now
I did the same test in my 106 this summer came to the same conclusion. In real world situation it will just never, ever, ever flip. If I was standing and suddenly had something crazy happen I would fall out and the kayak would be waiting upright for me to crawl back into. If I was sitting nothing short of a hurricane would flip it.
Bobby was whimpering saying “dad don’t do that” lol. And when Bethany said “careful now” she sounded the same as you in your rod unboxing video. I was cracking up. That thing is super stable. Bobby needs the shark fin pfd. He would make a good shark 🦈

Glad your okay Steven! I didn’t have any issues. It might be the difference between salt and fresh water.
I am also curious as to how the electrics work after being submerged ...fish finder , motor controls , battery would old town cover the motor if it got wet ?
Thx
Super helpful!

that’s dedication to the cause ….. now we know 😂😂😂
Even though this video is 2 years old. It's the first time seeing your channel just now. Subscribed 👍👍👍
HAHA ill never let go jack killed me! Don't know why you would do that in the cold water... you crazy man.
Excellent demo video. Not only did it show me the ability of the autopilot 120 you also showed me how to flip the kayak back over should I flip it. Thank you for the tips excellent video
They should build them upside down, see how hard they are to flip per?
Over?
Thanks Alex!
How is the trolling motor holding up, any problems since the big flip?
It’s still going strong. I sold that kayak to a guy and it still works great for him. Those motors are waterproofed just like a normal Minn Kota trolling motor.

This is a real and complete stability test everyone is looking for; his OldTown kayak is very stable. Thanks.
Just Bought the Autopilot. Appreciate the Video....even if the water was Cold! Thanks!
Probably the best kayak stability test I've ever seen. Great job and thanks for doing the ultimate test.
Wow now that was amazing I was very hesitant about buying because afraid of stability but now I’m convinced thank you so much for taking the plunge into the cold water for us and as always great video
What about water in the hull
I thoroughly enjoyed this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cool video...thx for pushing the PFD info...I've pulled enough dead bodies out of the water due to them not wearing one
It’s a hard truth but one we all need to hear.
not only hard to flip, but easy to get up on the bottom and then flip it back upright. Caught no fish, but, great way to re-direct the video. Good Job! 🎣👍😊😎🎣
Thanks for watching John!
Impressive Alex, it really is a stable beast! Great video! I see why little Bobby loves Stephanie...no ruffles, just lovens...lol!
Bobby loves him some Bethany thats for sure!
Oops sorry Bethany, for some reason I thought Alex said Stephanie...I'm blaming it on old age and hard of hearing...lol!
What’s your weight and height?
6’4 220
@@AlexRuddFishing that’s good news. I’m 6’ 225lbs and gonna get the same yak. Thanks!
😱 wow!
This man cares for his viewers. I was worried about the motor.
Thank you for the great information
Thanks for watching man!
Nice video that thing is sweet
Thanks bud!
How tall and how much do you weigh?
6’4 225
Wow now im jonesing for kayak upgrades!!
You definitely went the extra mile. Great review! Thanks bud.

Bethany for the win with that Titanic quote. Hahaa. Man, the things you gotta do when the bass don't cooperate and you need to make a video!
For sure! Just out here having fun! 👊🏻 Thanks for watching.
That the 136?
I actually think it’s more stable than my PA14... I want one lol.
We need to test that!
As always great video... Side topic any interest in helping a guy move to Tennesee... No not with money or move in with ya or have you move boxes... I mean like housing and job info
Shoot me an email
Is that a 120 or 136?
120
You and Aliex should have a flipping contest. 😆
He is braver than me, im not flipping my auto pilot with the motor on .....bad memories lol 😆 Suzuki 2.5...
That 50,000 subscribers is coming! Keep the mixed up vids coming!
Thanks for watching Jeremy!
Thanks for doing the flipping video. I’m considering the 120 Autopilot and this helps me see how stable it is.
It honestly surprised me! It’s crazy.
That’s a good info video. But your water temps. Wow. 89-91 here in Deep East Texas. Hurricane on the way...we will see what happens to water temps.
It’s because I’m in a river about a mile from a dam discharge.
That was a fun video!
I liked the video the stability on that thing was crazy
I was honestly super surprised.
Whats up with the audio in the beginning of the video, the right channel was out. Thought my headphones were jacked.
My audio jack is going out on my camera. Trying to make do until I can invest in a new one.
@@AlexRuddFishing word. I was checking all of my audio settings on my desktop thinking it was on my end. lol.
Good Job flipping it. Ive got the 106mk. Great info. Always spread safety news. Stay safe
I’m impressed. I should really do this with my kayak. It’s probably a good idea to know what to do.
For sure!
What size is this?
120
Thanks for the afternoon entertainment:)
👊🏻👊🏻

That is pretty stable. You are not a bean pole and had to really try. Nice.
Nice man! My AP 120 will be in my hand in 2 weeks!!!! I can't freaking wait!!!!!
Hope you love it man!

@@AlexRuddFishing Thanks dude!
"don't let go, jack!" 🤣🤣🤣
The things you do to keep us entertained LOL! Amazing stability!
Just out here having fun lol
Man that bowl of York peppermint patties looked yummy. Cool video. Really let you know the limits of what you can and can't do in a kayak 👍
Love me some York patties!
Jack 😂👍 Great Stuff Alex
Is that a wired hair Dachshund?
We aren’t sure, he was a rescue.
@@AlexRuddFishing he looks like a wired hair or a Scotty.
I’ll never let go jack?!😂🤣😂. Tell Bethany I almost wrecked laughing so hard!!!
Never let go Jack :D
Dude, that thing is unreal!
Dude ur awesum i needed this video thank you so much
LOOKS PRETY SAFE TO ME !!!
I’ve got the AutoPilot 136 and honestly I don’t think I can flip that thing. It’s huge. Maybe I’ll try it one of these days.
As usual, YOU ROCK!
I’ve only had a few trips on my kayak under my belt but haven’t had the balls to flip it yet
It is good practice in case you dip yourself by accident
For sure!
Awesome video Alex! I have been debating on buying one! And nobody has done a good video about the stability!👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really appreciate you doing that! now I know if for some reason it flipped, I now know how to flip it back over. also subbed
You’re braver than me! .....you know what happened to me when I tried that! 😂🤣

Good to know that you'll likely never flip it again, that you can flip it back over, and you could paddle it to the bank upside down.
For sure man. I was honestly amazed how stable it was.
Thank you for this video! I’ve really wanted to know this. I really hope that you got your dog a PFD. 👍😃🎣🐟💦
Yeah get your wife to flip hers! Only fair
Right?
Good job buying USA made. I’m not subscribing as there are great companies that have great products here in the states.
Say what? 🤔
