As a panthers fan I’ll always love this playoff run. Obviously we came up short in the end and went on to win the cup this year but coming out of nowhere for this run and upsetting the greatest team of all time and pushing all the way to the cup finals with an extremely shallow roster was just so special.
That East Final last year was so much fun to watch. Maybe one of the most fun series I've ever seen. I know it was a sweep but it was far more dramatic than most series that go 5 or 6 games.
Boston was the best regular season team of all time. Not the greatest team of all time. That was proven in the post season . And I’ll always love this season as well as a Vegas fan😉 lol . I truly believe if we had gotten past Dallas it would’ve been a rematch in the final this past year but obviously wasn’t meant to be. I rooted for you guys though in the final. So glad you saved us from hearing those Oiler fans for the next 20 years 😂 congrats again on your cup win.
hey hockey guy, i know this series didnt get a lot of views, but it really got me through an otherwise unpleasant summer! hope you continue being able to make videos you have fun making
Adin Hill's spectacular paddle save was the defining moment of the 2023 Cup Final. After that save, it felt like Vegas was destined to win, much like how the Capitals were destined to win after Holtby's save in 2018.
The Bruins getting upset by the panthers has to be one of the greatest upsets in playoff history. A 65 win team who set records all season getting upset by an eighth seed. Its happened before with Tampa Bay.
In the four major sports league in North America, none of the teams that set the record for most wins in a season ended up winning the championship. Two of the teams are Boston teams (Bruins & Pats), in baseball it's a tie (Cubs & Seattle with 116) and in basketball a few years back with the Oakland Warriors.
My fave season since 2004 as a Leafs fan. I watched Game 4 with my mom and grandpa and it was a nice sight. My grandpa never saw a game and was really into it. My mom fell asleep right before 3rd period ended so it was he and I watching the OT. He was happy he saw me happy Toronto win. My grandpa died 2 months later and it was the last memory I had spending time with him and I will always cherish it
Florida's run is similar to Montreal's few seasons back. They got hot right when their backs to the wall and then lost steam at the finals. Unlike last time, things went different the following year.
I've seen some first round collapses including my Wings in 2006 against Edmonton but a 65 win Boston team blowing a 3-1 series lead including blowing Game 7 in the final minute before OT had my mouth agape. I don't even care for Boston and I still can't believe how they lost it. The Urinating Tree video on it is also legendary. Say what you will against the 2016 Golden State Warriors but they at least got to the Finals before choking.
The only consolation was that the Panthers went on to win two, Conference Championships, and, one, Cup, additionally, the spoiled rotten Boston Sports Fans, had to wait another excruciating year for another Championship, bringing their interminable wait to a grisly five years, people like Bill Simmons obliterate the treacly remaining empathy I have for that area, period.
The only time I’ll ever be thankful for Vegas is that SCF. That was fuel for us to the season to get back to the final and eventually lift Stanley for the first time ever
Hi, Nobody Important in Hamilton. 90% of the Vegas players were recected by their previous teams. They all had a chip on their shoulder. I would have loved to see a game where each Vegas player wore the sweater of their previous team. That would really rub it in.
Great series, I have really enjoyed it. One note Reid Schaefer is still with Nashville. He is in the lineup tonight v Tampa. He was part of their 2nd line in Milwaukee last year and i think he could get 1st line minutes there this season depending on how the Preds roster shakes out with line 3 & 4
Shannon, I'd suggest making a playlist of all these so we can go back and watch them without having to sift through your other content. Then you could even add things to it later.
This was probably the most disappointing Rangers playoff run in my life. They really threw all their chips in for this run to get Kane and Tarasenko and it bombed hard in our face in round 1, and against the Devils to make it worse. That year left a sour taste in my mouth.
This was actually MacKinnons first year getting to 100 points. He got very close a few times, but due to reasons such as injuries and shortened seasons, could never reach this threshold. The was some wonder whether the universe would allow him to get the century mark. Not only did he get 11 points more than 100, but he was able to do it while missing 11 games with injury
After missing the playoffs, Vegas was proving everyone wrong a year later. If you're a Vegas fan, you love to see it. That said, to all of the Vegas haters out there: yes, they've pretty much had success since day 1. That said, their success isn't going to last forever. There will come a time when it will end. It happens to every team. Think of the Avalanche after moving from Quebec City. They didn't really know what losing was until the late 2000s.
Unfortunately, it came sooner than anybody, possibly, imagined, they have every look of the Blues, a team that sold their soul for a, Cup, only to never come, remotely, close to winning another, period.
@@Zedbie I think what he means is that the Blues also sold their soul for a cup, and then it was all downhill after that. He thinks Vegas will likely be the same way. I don't disagree with him. I think they got their one, I don't see them getting another anytime soon. We knew their window was going to be short.
I don't remember it being considered a big shock that the Kraken beat the Avs. Definitely not the biggest shock of the first round that year, everyone knew the Avs were weaker with Landeskog injured and Kadri gone
I’ve seen that argument from Avs fans trying to downplay the Kraken’s talents that season. The majority of the cup-winning Avs team was still intact, but the Kraken became the first expansion team in NHL history to defeat the defending champs in their first playoff run and only the second team to score 1st in all 7 games. So yeah, it was a decent shock…
@@ConfideKylie I guess I just wasn't underestimating the Kraken as much as most people, I saw them as a similar team to the 2018 Golden Knights so I figured anything could happen!
If Pittsburgh had won their last 2 games of the season, we would all be talking about how both the flames and panthers lost the Huberdeau/Tkachuk trade
Yeah, but, they didn't, just like they didn't get away with taking enormous parts of the following year off, it, so, looks like Kris Letang's whiff against the Capitals in 2018 was only the beginning of their problems, and, there, really, is no end in sight.
The good news is, I think the Panthers (probably), lose in the, Conference Final, and, the Oilers go completely, Scorched Earth, and, win, the 2025, Cup, the bad news is, they have the second of two ruinous contracts left to pay out, as a result, just like the last time, their, Dynastic, ambitions are tragically undercut by economics, too terrible, so, awful.
Observations 1. Having watched this series from the beginning "tumultuous year in Vancouver" seems to happen a lot 2. Patrice Bergeron is absolutely a first ballot hall of famer 3. Leafs fans chanting "we want Florida" and getting poop canned in 5 games will never not be funny
