Probably one of the best courses about PHP. I wouldn't call it beginner friendly, but makes it very easy to move to Laravel after you grasped all the concepts displayed on the video.
That's true, that's why as a beginner I am taking notes and practicing at the same time with lots of googling and learning from other resources. I'm halfway through and hopefully will make it to the end.
I agree, when I read PHP for beginners this was not what I was expecting. Some of the things after the midway point are quite abstract and honestly a little difficult to follow. But hey, it''s part of the learning process I guess. In a few months this might seem self explanatory (hopefully ^_^ )
He not only made us ready for Laravel, but he also taught us how to create a simple version of the Laravel framework :) I've been using Laravel for many years, but I didn't know the core concepts behind it. Now, everything is much clearer.

This course is a huge service to the whole PHP ecosystem! And for Free! I wish such courses existed when i was starting to program. I have been out of the PHP loop for ~10 years, and even though i was at a very high level, i am completely hooked and feel that i should continue watching the whole series (at 2 hours, 30 minutes now). the part about lambda and arrow functions was great, and i really enjoy, that you structure the course very sensibly so that a transfer to laravel is soo smooth. Great service to the PHP world Jeff!!!. I keep asking myself, where have I been since the original release of this Gem. The dude was really teaching his students the framework path to learning PHP. This means you'll never have an issue picking up frameworks like Laravel, Symfony, etc. And if you ever choose to become a no-framework guy, your code-base would be a framework in itself.

Thank you very much. This is really really a great course. Academic and professional content, a step-by-step explanation. Thank you again, and please keep publishing at the same level. 😊
This is insane.. In a very positive way of course. One of the best devs in the PHP World has given so much; Jeffrey, an authority in the PHP/Laravel, is smashing it, again, in a very constructive and helpful course. Kudos to you mate. Btw, this course is not for haters.. 😉 Cheers!
I don't know whether it's because it's my second language or whether Jeffrey is such a good teacher but I'm halfway through and this course has been a breeze.
I just love this course, Sir Jeffrey Way's accent is just so nice, easy to understand, and quite straightforward. Bundle of thanks, respect, and love from Pakistan ❤
This lesson is by far the BEST lesson I have taken as a "self taught" PHP enthusiast! Jeff takes you "along for the ride" you simply have to be willing to be a passenger and to not give up. Be willing to do research on your own when you hit a wall or come to an impasse where things aren't working (It will happen), after all NO ONE can memorize all the rules of any programming language and the subtle issues when dealing with servers and different IDE's and operating systems, it can get tough when you hit a wall, just don't give up! Jeffrey explains things in a easy to understand way that, at least for me, just makes sense. If you are remotely considering learning PHP, do not hesitate to at least listen to this lecture, it is POWERFUL PROGRAMMING LOGIC that can be moved into very popular frame works. Thank you Laracast for making this lesson available for free and thank you Jeffrey!
The syllabus on the video or the sections looks insteresting. I have a broad experience using programming languages since 2014, at this point in the time I have the understand about php, specifically symfony, so I pick up a few videos related to the topic and this one looks great. I hope I can enjoy it. Thank you for the video. Cheers from Venezuela 🇻🇪
Jeffrey Way is an absolute rock star when it comes to teaching. His ability to explain even the most mind-bending concepts in such a chill, way is out of this world. He has a true gift for making complex stuff click without any confusion whatsoever. I've been really struggling to wrap my head around Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), and I can't help but wonder if Jeffrey has a course on it. With his teaching superpowers, I'm convinced he could finally help me "get" DSA. Seriously, the way Jeffrey breaks things down is simply magical. Hats Off to you SIR.
Thank you very much, Jeffrey! I've seen a lot of instructors on my chaotic learning way and you're one of the best. Your way of presenting programming concepts is just second to none. Thank you for this gift for community!
Thank you for this Series. It helped me a lot to understand how PHP works in reallife projects as well as how a framework is made off. Thank you again for uploading such thoughtful contents.
Marvelous course my man, your ability to teach, your skils for rewriting/refactoring code turning it readable and flexible are just awesome. I hope to develop that thought processing as soon as possible in my carrer.
Wish I had seen this when first trying to learn MVC with Ruby and then with React. It makes so much more sense now. Also helps you appreciate how much the frameworks do for you.
could you please teach as soon as possible to how to change or avoid the query string .. for example like we have a notes/note?id=1 ; how to remove this and apply in this php for beginners router i have search every where but didn't find any resources related to this .. Its a request sir reply me .. I am very very very .. excited to learn avoiding the query string . you are the best teacher i have seen in my life..
I'm an FE dev, and I realized that since I've been fully focused on working with JS (React.js, Node.js, Vue.js etc), I haven't been steady with side hustles or had any out-of-work gigs. I'm planning to refocus on PHP, learn Laravel, and get into WordPress again. I used to be able to land small gigs doing WordPress in our area. I hope the market is still the same. When I was younger, I was easily drawn to shiny new JS tools, but as I get older, I prefer to choose stacks that pay the bills. I'm getting old now cheers!
I'd recommend just stick with this PHP tutorial series here. Don't 'shop around' other languages and courses. This one is free on UA-cam and taught by Laracast which is really good. Just go through them in order and complete them. Highly recommend. You're in the right place, don't worry. You're here for a reason.
Really enjoyed the course Jeffrey, had to go over a couple of things more than once, but thats the beauty of UA-cam. I'm looking forward to updating my existing sites, created with a different PHP MVC. Looks like I'm heading to Laracasts ... ;-)
people were already saying php is dead and now with the emrgence of Devin the whole Coding industry is in state of confusion but here I am learning PHP again let's see
Your videos are great and very helpful, and have helped me a lot in the past. Can you make a video about how you set up your PhpStorm so that it looks so clean. :)
I really wish it didn't end the way it did. For many, Composer is hard to use (at least on pre-built PCs with Windows). And people using XAMPP as their servers. I tried installing Laravel and had so many errors - and it was so overwhelming I literally gave up on the idea. I wish you would have gone more in depth with OOP toward the end. But overall I loved the series and learned stuff I didn't already know. Perhaps you could do a real stripped down series on Laravel geared toward people with less tech know-how, so we can at least get our feet inside the door. Just a thought. From my experience, the more problems you encounter with a framework, the less likely you'll be to try and use it -or- anything similar. This is why I have tried creating my own code infrastructure over the years... But I *am* ready to move on to something like Laravel, I just need better help, better documentation... I find the Laravel site VERY lacking in that regard. Not everyone knows what every error means... that's just how it is. Thanks for doing this series, I really enjoyed it.
His speaking style is captivating, with a dynamic tone that is effortlessly comprehensible. It keeps me engaged, and I find myself able to learn throughout the day without any hint of drowsiness. BEST Teacher!!!
XAMPP works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It works pretty much the same on all three. And the Mac and Linux version looks almost exactly alike. XAMPP contains Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP, and PhpMyAdmin. If you mess up XAMPP, just uninstall the package and then reinstall it. People say that XAMPP is not good for production environments. Ok. Then don't use it for production. I think it is perfect for learning web technology in general and for learning PHP specifically.
