What an amazing match! So much wonderful pool and the combination of JJ and Danny B commenting was wonderful. Good quality video with colors of the balls being visible. I can't say how happy I am with this match and video.
Reyes is undisputed king of 8-ball and one-pocket, and also among the very best in 9-ball. Add in straight pool and rotation where he also plays at elite or near elite level, and he's also very good in 10-ball. He's DCC Master of the Table 5 times for best all-around play. Based on his all-around game, I certainly believe he's the GOAT.
and also in 61 rotation pool because games using all balls have more problems to solve than 9 ball like breaking cluster balls and maneuvering and swerving around many balls. Efren can get out even with multiple bank and multiple kick bank shots and multiple bank kick safe shots which other players have difficulty
Absolutely.. I used to play the Reno Open, twice a year " Sands regency " and would see Efren, and most of the others there, until he stopped coming.. never had to draw him in a match, though... too bad !!
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Earl Strickland is inarguably one of the best of not the best 9-ball player. Although Efren beat him in 1997 Color of the Money Event which was a $100,000 winner take it all and race to 120. IT was a close match but Efren ultimately prevailed with a score 120-117.
I sometimes feel Efren sells out on purpose because he wants to prolong the game so he could play much longer especially against a good player. Thats how much he loves the game.
I think a lot of people don't realize this is a near-prime SVB playing against an elderly Efren, and Efren is still doing amazing things and winning. Efren's prime was 30 years before this match lol.
When u guys say u disagree with Efren I just laugh Bc trust me Efren knows what he’s doing he won’t shoot until it’s the best shot u can do on the table he’s extremely smart

First time ever watching 1 pocket. Normally watch a lot of 9 ball. Really enjoyed this and will definitely be watching more! The younger sounding coomentator is the greatest player to ever pick up a cue, going by the way he talks!
that last shot was amazing... for someone new like me could miss that.. but he hit it soft enough and hid the cue behind shanes pocket, just in case his target ball doesnt fall in... simply amazing! GOAT
Jeremy Jones doing the cementations, very good player, very good doing this also. Was Just talking to Randy Gotlenger from Dallas last week about you Jeremy..
I'm starting to come around to Jeremy's commentating, but Dani can't get in his rythem and all those smart comments like he does with Billy. Great match all around!!
Agreed w both of them: Systems "work" as REFERENCES. But it's always feel. When people "have a system" ... I say show me it via a "NOVICE" and I'll believe it. 🤣
I'm not sure the exact play you are referring to but if you scratch or fail to touch a rail after contact you are penalized one ball. If you haven't sunk any balls yet, the ref takes it out at the end of your inning when you sink one later.
One pocket is a defensively oriented game. The game is about denying your opponent opportunity until someone slips and leaves an opening. Breaking hard in one pocket might put a ball in your pocket but if it doesn't your opponent comes to the table and there's a very good chance he will have a shot. The balls will be spread and it may be easy for your opponent to sink several.
How does Danny keep getting these gigs. So negative and a know it all. I have stopped watching videos - like this one - bc of him. The final straw was him telling us how Shane hits the cue ball so well and that he’s been saying that for years. Oh really? One of the best players in the world hits the balls well? Thank god you’re here to tell us that.
After watching several one pockets matches and having played game myself, always play your own game & and never listen to the commentators no matter who it is.."I wouldn't do this/I wouldn't shoot that"!
Why did they change the colors of the balls. Can't see the numbers and I had the colors memorized. Makes it confusing. Sure love watching the magician even with the background chatter. This sport needs a Rogan. Someone knowledgeable and entertaining.
There is less than a plethora of moves for each move in chess but these folks are outside the envelope in their comparison of the two games. Seems golf and pool are outside reasonable comparisos. Now lets have some examples of golf and chess, please.
"I'm kinda upset though, because I think he would have shot at it if he was playing me" GREAT LINE! :-) You guys brought up a really good point about how to get people interested in pool. I suspect one reason pool isn't as well received here any more is it tends to have a bit of a seedy reputation in this country, some of which has been earned, in some respects, but very much not in most others. Someone needs to figure out why snooker has stayed the high paid spectator sport it has in much of the rest of the world while pool has taken a merciless beating here, by comparison. I guess one question would be is pool in Europe widely attended, when they play pro tourneys, and does it pay anything like snooker? And why, in many other places in the world (China, for one) is pool so highly regarded and watched? It seems like someone who has expertise looking at and comparing this sort of thing should maybe be hired to have a look and see what steps might be taken to improve the situation. I'm not even sure what that expertise would be, but something similar to a systems engineer improving a production facility, or a marketing person REALLY understanding and speaking to the market (or creating one, mostly, in this case). I've seen a lot of pool people try it (Sigel's league, or Bonus Ball, to name a couple) but someone with REAL EXPERTISE in coming up with some CORRECT conclusions and ideas might actually improve the problem. Those might have been OK ideas, but they did pretty much nothing to advance the sport, at least as far as I can tell looking at pro tourney spectator numbers. Bonus ball WAS cool though, I was sad to see it end. Industrial psychologist maybe, haven't done the research, but that shouldn't be that hard. This video had been on 21 hours and has gotten 14,000 views. I just minutes ago watched a fairly little known (certainly not top tier, in terms of notoriety) a Capella group with 40K in 4 hours....that doesn't bode well.

After many decades, the announcers still say Efren got lucky, or why is he shooting that?

That last shot was risky to barely make it to the pocket. He's such an entertainer to the very end.
Efren played it so that even if he missed, the cue ball went to the rail behind the 9 and SVB wouldn’t have an easy shot. Masterful control!
@@ChasingChinsterbut i think that is easy shot, the hardest and risk shot is when reyes take a kick shot to 3

Help me out .what type of pool game is this
I have never seen this .Efren makes a ball perfectly and the ref spots the ball
It’s call one pocket. Each player has a designated pocket at the bottom of the table. If they pocket a ball in a non designated pocket it is spotted
Most skilled pool game on the plant!
I'm not sure the exact play you are referring to but if you scratch or fail to touch a rail after contact you are penalized one ball. If you haven't sunk any balls yet, the ref takes it out at the end of your inning when you sink one later.
I think Danny had it right when he said Efren was tired.
Why did Shane do that on the first break? I’m new to pool and was just wondering why he chose to break so softly
Because they are playing only one pocket
Watch the whole match. They break that way every game. That’s the best way to break in the game of one pocket.
One pocket is a defensively oriented game. The game is about denying your opponent opportunity until someone slips and leaves an opening. Breaking hard in one pocket might put a ball in your pocket but if it doesn't your opponent comes to the table and there's a very good chance he will have a shot. Anyone can tell me what that 4-1 or 401 means for each player? Thanks.
It’s their record in the tournament so far.
I’m new to one pocket how did Efren foul at 10:45
No rail after contact.
All this talk about what Reyes did wrong, or I would have done this, is just annoying. If you could play better then they do, you would be there.
Nice to see Tommy Heinson in the crowd. RIP!
10:36 It's not a foul ?
It is foul. That's why efren got -1
