Hey!! You got it!! Rock Gospel... absolutely...🎉🎉😊
I'm one of 5 siblings - our oldest sister swore us all to play this on a loop at her wake/funeral. . . . lol
awwww
How crazy is this? About an hour ago I heard this in the car and thought 'gee, someone needs to do a reaction to this'!! I got on my laptop a few minutes ago and here it is!! Thank you!
lol it was destiny 🤣
This brings back great memories of my childhood. ✌️ ❤️ 🇬🇧
Love this tune. Happy music. Nice reaction.
thanks so much! i really appreciate the love
Norman greenbaum is a farmer he came to sing that song said it was all he had was that one message and he went back to farming! He did his year of touring! So he is a one hit wonder! But it is a great song! I told my kids that , that's the song I want played at my funeral!
Geez.., I haven't heard that tune in quite a while. Thanks for taking me to a trip down memory lane. 👍🏻
❤🙌 we both too that trip haha
I love watching you listen to older music of my time. Thanks for doing it.
I think i belong to that era 🤣🤣 take me back!
It was fun and exciting then.
This is such a cool song they don't make them like this anymore🤯🤯🤯🤯
Great song! Thank you!
thank you for showing love!
My guidence concillor in grade 7 question this choice of song for a rally in a catholic school Too rock n roll He said I said LISTEN
1970
Always on the playlist!❤
♥️🙏 mine now too
I’m an Atheist but I have loved this since it came out.
Come to Jesus he is very much real my friend 💕😊🙌
It's not the guitar solo in the center of the song that's famous and beloved -- it's that fuzzy "Bow-buh-bow-bu-bow-bu-bow" that's throughout most of the song. People have been discussing and arguing about how he created that fuzzy distinctive sound. It's really never been replicated.
Keep playing more good music 👍👍👍
I got you 🙌❤
I'm not a religious fella, but this song, and just about and Sister Rosetta Tharpe will make you wanna be buddies with Jesus.
Jesus is the way. He brought me through so much and I can never deny him ♥️
My Sweet Lord too, not religious either 😊
What do you mean old music you young whippersnapper, lol lol, yeah before me, this is definitely a happy song, I was hoping for the original video so I can show you what my brothers used to look like, lol lol, 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, definitely for the psychedelic era, I thought you would like the message, nice happy song, nice message, I like the flo of the music, glad that you liked it, it's not really a religious song, I guess it just means your just preparing for your death and preparing for the afterlife, yeah I know I suggested it before but you might want to try-- living colour - " cult of personality", I think you'll be shocked, but like it😁.
thanks always Jeff! loved it and i will add that one to the list 🙌❤😊

STEVIEE!!! thanks for showing up
One of my favorites & played when i die♡
Awww it got you too♡
I will be dancing across that bridge when my time comes.
Norman Greenbaum is not a Christian. He's Jewish and heard the TV preacher Porter Waggoner extolling Jesus and thought he could write a gospel type song and he did. It was a massive hit but he never hit the charts again. If it strikes a chord for your love of Jesus, that's cool, but just know he wasn't' espousing his beliefs. Whatever it's a great song.
Porter Wagoner wasn't a preacher that I know of. He was a popular country music singer with his own TV show on which he introduced a relatively unknown Dolly Parton to the world in the 1960s. Porter and Dolly performed together on the show for a couple years.
The porter Wagoner part is wrong but yes, this is a mocking take on Christians. " I never been a sinner,I never sin" ...that line is totally blasphemous.
@@Code9 Wow that was a stupid mistake sorry! I'm just learning about older music being only 30 but I know that Waggoner was a great country singer who at times incorporated gospel into his music, and I did hear that he really helped Dolly Parton's career and in fact she wrote I Will Always Love You for him. Did I at least get that right?? 😛
@@CarolynSmith-ld5dzI'm not sure he's purposefully or consciously mocking. I think yes, you could see it cynically, and certainly his line about never sinning is disingenuous and certainly incorrect if he was any kind of Christian that I know of. And we know he was Jewish. But I actually think that he sort of mediated or brought through this song in a moment of genuine inspiration. Not knowing the history or the gist of Christianity, and being young and probably very naive, he may have thought of that line completely differently than it sounds to us. Do you have any actual knowledge that this was a purposefully satiric mocking of Christians? I'd like to hear it, because Norm Greenbaum remains a mystery to me -- but this song rocks -- it's beautiful, and it also DOES approach some strange understanding of death and the afterlife. And whether it wants to or not, it vibrates with a LOVE for Jesus and God and the Message of Love.
@@Kairon111161 well, here goes. Does not proclaim that Jesus is the savior nor son of God. Doesn't recognize that Jesus is the only way to God, just a message carrier to " set you up with the " spirit" or recommend you to it. Suggests that it's the individual mind that must be reminded to believe or it isn't real. You tell yourself you know it's a must ,gotta have a friend in Jesus. He never acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God or is our savior. Most importantly is that he demotes the Christian God to just " the spirit in the sky" that Jesus works as a secretary for. If he were truly honoring Jesus he'd call him the son of God...his God. He doesn't. I've never heard a Jew call their God " the spirit in the sky". He also NEVER says who or what Jesus is except that a Christian has to convince themselves that Jesus is real by telling themselves he is. It's actually more mocking than I first thought when I first heard it over 50 years ago. I could analyze it even more thoroughly but I won't bother because Norman isn't here to agree or disagree with anything I'm saying.😉
Fantastic
Yes, this was his one hit wonder. He took the money he made and bought himself a chicken farm in Petaluma, California.
Sweet Christian song by a nice Jewish boy lol. Only flaw is the line about "Never been a sinner...never sinned." But we are all sinners. Nonetheless many Christians have this song at their funerals.
Jesus is Lord! very nice indeed
I felt the same way, but After reading Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch, there isn't such a thing as "sin," so i definitely want this played at my funeral!
Love your channel. Your volume seems really low, crank it up a little, please.
