Yamaha powered airboat full throttle run

took the new build out to Utah Lake for some full throttle runs before installing a turbo no music all engine.
hull: dragonfly 13x7
engine: yamaha apex non turbo.. for now
gearbox: skytrax usa
propeller: whirlwind Excalibur 68" 3 blade

Awesome project, I’ve seen your post on Yamaha fb group, I have one in a plane and am thinking about building an airboat. What are your thoughts of it in an airboat? Do you ride with others? Can it keep up with say a stock ls based boat ? Would you use same hull again or something different?

Thank you! I love this engine in an airboat. You could probably build a healthy ls boat for similar cost but the fuel you’ll burn and the extra weight come at a cost as well. It all depends what you’re looking to do with the boat. I plan on getting some footage with some other boats for a comparison but don’t have anything right now except my own builds. I love this hull it’s a reverse chine so it lets it roll then grabs and turns hard. If you have an airplane setup you know the basics of power to weight ratio and what the Yamaha offers. The biggest benefit is the agility and handling of the power in a lightweight boat. I’m definitely building another setup and leaving it stock. It was super reliable and ran great.
