Scott your creativity is unreal, I don’t know how you come up with stuff like this! Trust that you’ve benefitted many a board of mine with your creativity, and have definitely stoked my interest in tinkering with my boards more than any other youtuber.
Thank you so much for that comment! I really appreciate it :) sometimes I have to stare at these things for a while before I can think of what to do haha
The mixups are real, at first i thought “wow he put tiny steel balls in here, how?” And then I thought oh he said Balls of Steel as just a compliment, THEN CAME THE STEEL BALL SILICONE “WEIGHT”
Honestly razer has gotten a lot better in the last few years. Their viper v3 pro is easily one of the best gaming mice out there and I'm glad to see they're going in the right direction with their keyboards as well.
Honestly, if we are talking about gaming keyboards, which Razer is supposed to be making, currently my favorite is the Keychron Q1 HE(was using a modded Wooting 60HE before that) because it has pretty good wireless polling and the firmware updates fixed the bugs it came with, the typing on it is also quiet good especially after working on it and changing the key caps to cherry profile 1.8mm el cheapo ones from Epomaker. I think the next real contender will be the Wooing 80 HE, we'll see what happens.
I ordered this as a resell for 80 bucks and for that price I think it’s much more worth it. Even with rumors of bad switches I still like it and will swap them out when they eventually go bad. After swapping out the default keycaps I think it looks pretty good but it’s all preference and a cool little board to add to the collection
The silent yellows are weird because they only half silent it. The downstroke is padded but the upstroke is not so there's still a lot of sound. The razer oranges are most similar to purple pandas from my experience (long pole large tactile bump at the top). Razer greens are razer greens.
Wanted to like this keyboard went through 2 both had double letter pushing issues so returned both and went with the azoth . The womier sk75 the falchion low profile and the Alienware pro wireless lol I have a bad habit of keyboards but I love them all ! Now where are those steel balls !
For a 200$ board, thats some crazy ass modding to make it sound DECENT, there was 0 of so called "thocc"ness, it was sounding like someone trhowing d6 dices in a glass bowl
you should mix the steel balls with the silicone first before pouring for even distribution. now it's just uneven and only on the top layer of the silicone. Also $189 - $199? still a YIKES for me
Damn, this steel ball silicone mod is really cool. Makes GAMER boards actually viable to my ears. However, i still like my split backspace and tsangan bottom row as well as VIA, so unfortunately this mod will never see any use from me.
Still sounds plasticy but definitely a huge improvement. 100% not worth that price point considering you have to do so much work to improve it. It would be better sold as barebones and cheaper. Gaming companies need to get with the times. You can buy customs for so much cheaper and they provide a similar if not better experience. Hell, if you're so concerned about gaming, HE boards are incredibly cheap nowadays.
Hey, Scott, i think u've made a little mistake while modding this keyboard. I think the silicon was too thick and i have the feeling pcb is touching it. When the foam, or in this case, silicon, touches pcb the sound becomes a lot more high-pitch and less pleasant. I really appreciate the idea of imbedding steel balls into silicon, for sure gonna implement it somewhere. Love your videos, and this time music volume is good :)
Very interesting video Scott, as always. What I don´t understand about Razer is that if they want to get the attention community, voiding the warranty if you open it is not a smart move. Of course we will open it and mod it, that´s what we do to make it custom! Also the price. We can get a Bauer Lite, a Neo, Luminkey and other boards for that same price and get a much better product that doesn´t void your warranty if you open it. And lets be honest, 99% of Razer customers are not keyboard enthusiasts. They are gamers that want that very bright shine through RGB experience So this board is perfect fro that crowd I think. As far as the steel balls go, I´ll pass, I´ve moved on to alu boards anyway.
You should try MLV. Really cheap and you can cut it with scissors. Does wonders to sound. I don't think razor researched custom keyboards tho. If they did they would have definitely kept it all alu body and also included a decent weight.
Its a good board but the edges of the aluminum frame where your hands make contact with start to shine in just under a month; kind of like how abs keycaps would shine. Besides that point overall good keeb.
So since you can't take it apart..... how is this even remotely a good mix product lmao... and is that even legal that you can't even open your product?? I understand if you modify something but just because I open my hood of my car I don't void my warranty lmfao that would be insane
Its not actually legal for them to void the warranty like that. They're just hoping no one actually goes to court against them This applies to all items where opening them does not damage the item. You have to prove that the customer opening it caused damage.
Curse of the name brand pricing: lets set the msrp $60 more than what it will actually sell for when it is 40% off at X-mass, guaranteeing that no one will buy it till then.
LOL! Cause they are like balls and made of steel... sounds fantastic with your mods! I almost bought this when it came out but I just don't like their software and could not use the Asus software. New version of the Azoth about to be released soon, all AL I believe. Crazy how far these have come in the past few years... kind of like the $100 75% custom boards, so many great offerings at the moment!
Can you mod Logitech G PRO keyboard? i have one. i think is so loud and need help. the rule is you can't change the switches and convert it into the most Logitech silent keyboard ever.
Not too bad...for a Razer. After you modded it by replacing or changing almost every single important internal part. LOL tbh I just have to laugh. We've got "custom" budget keebs out here like the ND75 and Rainy75 that blow this thing out of the water in every single way (except maybe the RagingGamerBling) for basically half the price! Oh yeah, RGB pcbs are a thing in some custom keyboards too. Basically I can't think of any reason to buy something like this Fun mods tho :)
I don't know why I would never gift anyone a razer keyboard, if anything most of them are gamers so I would just buy them a wooting because that is the goat of all gaming keyboards
Sorry, but it doesn't sound good stock. Like at all. Incredibly plastic-y and rattly. It does sound better when modded tho, so good job on that, but I doubt the gamers are gonna bother with silicone
meh I think the rog azoth sounds better stock. until these companies invest some time into making better quality shine through caps I genuinely don't see the need to own any of them. they lose on price, materials, and even software most of the time to things half or even less than half their price. 8k polling since it is the only genuine feature it offers different is not worth that kind of a markup
Oh wait... This is a Razer product... FUCK their synapse! I already got scammed with the DAV3Pro because of that awful software.... Never in this life will I buy another Razer product!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. Avoid this keyboard like the plague. I have gone through multiple replacements and they have all suffered the double typing and missed inputs issues. Razer will not put it right. I bought this in December 2023 and still don't have a keyboard. Please, do not support this company.
brb buying steel balls
Haha good seeing you here Hipyo!
Nice video on the womiersk75
don't bother
@@Tealc2323 too late
found your ch when I wanted to build a custom back in 2020. stayed for the comedy. thank you

Old school mods video.... I love it
Haha back to roots!
The mixups are real, at first i thought “wow he put tiny steel balls in here, how?” And then I thought oh he said Balls of Steel as just a compliment, THEN CAME THE STEEL BALL SILICONE “WEIGHT”
Hahaha glad you liked it
The finished result looks so cool!
You could've went all in on the steel balls theme by using those Roller switches with steel balls from KBDFans in it too 😂
Even Wuque has them too... Def missed opportunity 😂

Unbelievable sound test with the black widow, wow
Thank you so much!
Steelshot could also be a better value alternative to spheres you can find it locally

Dang, awesome video and new mod! Its effective and mostly practical too! Although it hasn't persuaded me to go razer, especially for that price.
0:27 Surgery.. Balls... Steel... to a Black'widow'...
This should be the 'manliest' mod I've ever seen 🤣🤣
Have you tried putting those same steel ball bearings under the stem part of the switch? For that extra long stem feel?
I have seen people do that before, but not personally myself!
Wanted to like this keyboard went through 2 both had double letter pushing issues so returned both and went with the azoth . The womier sk75 the falchion low profile and the Alienware pro wireless lol I have a bad habit of keyboards but I love them all ! Now where are those steel balls !
nah that mod is insane scott lovely lil mod might have to try that on some of my boards haha, i wonder if you could do this on hollow alu boards
You definitely can! It'll be good to help control ping
They can't legally void your warranty if you open it.
It's like those "warranty void if removed" stickers, they can't do that.
can you recommend transparent housing switch for alternatives? i love RGB letters. thanks
Yep, I thought OG enthusiasts despise this Razer mechanical keyboards? LOL now one by one is streaming and having it a content..
Thought of buying this but remembered what living in overdue credit bills feels like
No north facing interference on the keycaps?
For a 200$ board, thats some crazy ass modding to make it sound DECENT, there was 0 of so called "thocc"ness, it was sounding like someone trhowing d6 dices in a glass bowl
I thought the whole time it sounded like dropping a fork in a melamine bowl.

Like your intro! 😂👍🤟
This is the same idea i came up with to mod my GG75
Awesome!
i got this keyboard for 2 months and I have double click issue. Anyone have an idea how to fix this ?
My keyboard has the same issue and my C key button doesn't work smh.
It's the key, got the same issue, swapped my most used keys (which are the ones which double typed in my case) and problem fixed
for someone has same problem as mine. I replaced the switch and the issue has gone away
Stock sounds like when you build stuff in Lego games
Have you tried drunkdeer's keyboards? I think they sound great for a hall effect keyboard and they are relatively cheap too.
Hmm I need to look into it!
Its a good board but the edges of the aluminum frame where your hands make contact with start to shine in just under a month; kind of like how abs keycaps would shine. Besides that point overall good keeb.
Also though I have not encountered the double-tripple typing issue, a lot of users report double-tripple registration of keys within weeks of use.
Hello guys! When he says that razer sponsored this video it means that they paid him or just sent the keyboard for free?
So since you can't take it apart..... how is this even remotely a good mix product lmao... and is that even legal that you can't even open your product?? I understand if you modify something but just because I open my hood of my car I don't void my warranty lmfao that would be insane
Good points!
Yeah, why even add hotspot sockets if you have to void your warranty in order to properly support them when putting in new switches
Its not actually legal for them to void the warranty like that. They're just hoping no one actually goes to court against them
This applies to all items where opening them does not damage the item. You have to prove that the customer opening it caused damage.
@@Alsry1 that's what I thought lol direct cause and effect needs to be evident in court case. So this would not be legal at all
The used prices are not too bad. The black ones are going for around $80. Almost tempted to get one especially after watching this. Ahhhhh~~~~~

Do not buy this product you will replace the switches in less than 3 months.
Lmao don't buy one. I have it and it's utter garbage. Asus one this year is actually half decent.
