Am I the only one saddened by this kind of things ? Abandonned theaters, classrooms, science labs... So much things could be done here, so much that could be salvaged for education projects or something... Half of this lab equipment could be used in other schools.

It looks like only online courses are offered as of Jan. 31st, 2019. The new administration applied for grants to restore three of the buildings in late 2018. It may still be at least a few more years before the campus itself comes back to life. Here's a news report: www.knoxnews.com/story/news/local/2018/10/12/knoxville-college-hbcu-takes-first-step-process-restore-campus-buildings/1593204002/

When i was a teenager ( im 60 now) their was an abandoned girls riding camp ( Camp Tabor) on top of a mountain near where I lived. We explored it dozens of times, it was like everyone just vanished. Clothes, suitcases, dozens of saddles, curry combs and other horse items as well as personal items were all left behind. Even Trophies girls had won were left behind. Their were even a few cars. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates" glasses everything u needed to feed a couple hundred people. Never did find out why it was abondoned the way it was...Sadly it was torn down yrs ago. Its all but a memory now.

My church bought a kind of small Christian private school that was closed maybe two years and you wouldn't believe the things still there. They left tons of sports trophys and awards, library full of books, signs and banners still hung up in the halls and class rooms. I was like if this was my former school or I was a worker here I couldn't just leave those things

I remember traveling to this school from Texas, going to enroll. At that time they lured students in by offering a deeply discounted tuition. The catch was that you had to work on campus to pay off the remainder of the tuition, but you didn't find that out until enrollment. Basically the students took care of the campus in order to go to school. This was back in 2003-04ish. The campus was in disrepair at that time. There were only like three buildings open with limited staff. What a terrible experience. Most of the students were inner city from like Detroit and Chicago so they had no choice but to stay. As for me, I got out of there. The place had rats,we had to paint our own rooms and I ended up having it out with the President because she didn't want to refund the money I already paid. Let's just say I had a check within a week. I ended up enrolling at UTK. I understand the historic significance, but it should shut down as a school. Perhaps it could reopen as a rehabilitation center.

    • @Blatsen
      @Blatsen Рік тому

That’s very misleading that they didn’t disclose that you had to work on campus to pay off part of your tuition until you actually enrolled.
Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL openly markets itself as a “work college” where students are required to work on campus to pay off part of their tuition, but they are very open about that.
Blackburn has a very long and well-established reputation as a work college so no one is caught off guard by that fact.
Knoxville College should have been open about that fact that it was basically a work college too.

You can't just remove them from their source of drugs and expect a positive outcome. They would go nuts.

For anyone curious, both appear to be Remington electric standards.
The one at 12:00 looks like a slightly newer (or is it a little older?) version of a model I've seen before. Made around the 1950s.
The one at 15:38 is a newer style I had no idea they made an electric version of. This one is 60s to 70s.

I'm a Theatre major at my college and I can tell that equipment in the control both is dimmer control. Now they would of had a light board on one of those counters but shoot those equipment are old. Good video

Yeah way before DMX512, can't for the life of me recall what that analog system was called though.

@@sparkplug1018 The stage lighting control system by Electro Controls is nearly identical to what my high school had, brand new, in about 1973. This is making me feel old! The movie palace in town that was restored about the same year had the same Electro Controls equipment type, but a much large control board and more light/power circuits. Both systems have been upgraded to newer computer based. (Not sure if Electro Controls brand name is supposed to be 1 word or 2.)

One thing I've learned from abandoned videos in this decade is how wasteful the human race is. Not even 10 minutes in and you see those pianos... just sitting there. 😒

In 2015 their were 11 students and 35 staff at this college. That’s absolutely crazy to having more teachers on campus than students. At least u get the most 1 on 1 time than any other school😂. Look this college up on google and call it still the old ass voicemail and wiki has some cool facts about the place as well

Kanra Smith he’s trying to be racist he used the wrong “then” tho. He meant than and he’s saying that black people would rather “bitch about slavery and how white people bad” than actually go learn history. It’s standard racist rhetoric. He’s being an asshole and disappointing how many likes he got
