I'm glad you're going to watch it. You'll be very surprised I think, be prepared to feel a lot of different emotions. It's quite a story, I mean, you couldn't make this shit up. ❤
The fellow you said looked like a German soccer player was John’s manager and long time best friend Glen Wheatley. Glen died from Covid early last year. Glen sold his house to fund the making of John’s album Whispering Jack. Glen had started making this film before he died. His wife Gaynor took over and finished it for him. John is well known to say that he gets “towie” (nervous) before any performance. He is a legend. I have my ticket to see the movie. I know I will cry all the way through it because I get emotional just from the trailer. Love John.
I've got a ticket to an early screening on May 14th. I am so excited. I'm 63, and have loved John & followed his career since I was 10 yrs old. You cant help but love our John. His biography called "The Untold Story" is an excellent book too. It traces his life from his parents marriage in 1949 through to his surgery & rehab. Much love from. Australia 🇦🇺💕
@@dee-smart I'm in SA too, & like you I don't go out much. It would take a herd of wild elephants to keep me away from this though. Can't wait. Hope you have a great time. 😊
@@jeffwilson7100 It was really quite good. Never knew the backstory of how the LRB mistreated John because of jealousy, and how he felt compelled to leave. Lots of old footage too like with his parents and sister in the early days and the whole backstory of how You're the Voice came into being with him. It's only a shortish film but seemed longer. People were crying towards the end. You will enjoy it. I am a pensioner and normally don't pay $17 for tickets but wanted to see this and saw a Mothers Day preview. Not as many people as I thought there'd be and a lot were in my age group (60's). The younger generation don't follow the old stuff ... until they actually HEAR it.
Can’t wait, already got my tickets. We’re having a girls night out on this one. It’s really hard to believe that no one wanted to sign him to a record deal, everyone passed. He didn’t have enough money to take his sons to McDonald’s. Glenn Wheatley mortgaged his house so that they could make an album and he recorded You’re the Voice, even though the songwriter didn’t want him to. What a story! Bless you John and RIP Glenn Wheatley.🥰
The saving of John's career by the legendary super-manager Glenn Wheatley was a match made in heaven. Wheatley was so overwhelmed when he heard John's situation that he volunteered to mortgage his home to get enough money to help John out of oblivion. For over 10 years in the prime of his life John was down and lost to the world. A new generation had never heard of him. Older fans thought he had died. Then this 'new guy' to a new generation returned to the stage . . . and the rest is history.
John has recovered from his chest infection and is out of hospital, his sons said he probably won't watch the movie , he is a very humble person and is still amazed by his fame .
Like Robbie Williams said he fills the gap where religion should be with his voice . John would certainly appreciate Robbie Williams take on his voice.
The guy you said was a soccer player was John’s best friend and Manager. He used to play Bass in I think The Masters Apprentice but he knew he would be a better Manager than a musician. No one in Australia or America would sign John after he already had number one hits. They said no one wanted to hear him sing. So Glenn Wheatley took over, mortgaged his home and everything he owned because it was going to be made a new way. Then no radio station would play it until enough people heard it and demanded it. Glenn changed radio in Australia. We lost Glenn in March last year to complications to Covid. The women who said his voice was lost in action was Gaynor Wheatley, Glenn’s wife. You have to understand that they were and are a part of John’s and Australia’s family. The woman talking at the beginning and part way through was Olivia Newton John. I love that Richard Marx was there and Celine Dion told us in one concert she was always his number one fan. I loved that he did a concert with Ray Charles because he was my crush when I was 10. Ray was very old and John was so careful with him. What you see and feel if you know John is he is humble and so kind. He is everyone’s family. Thank you.
The funny thing about what you're saying is that all sides of John Farnham are known to most Australians; he really has been like a 'family member' for over fifty years. Great to see your love for the guy, he really is the guy he SEEMS to be.
Just an update. The Finding the Voice documentary has won the Logie Awards in Australia which is an annual award (similiar to your American Emmy Award). To date, this documentary on John has now become the highest selling documentary in Australian history. First time ever.
The movie won an Aria award for the movie. John loved the public reaction to the movie. He's recovering well and dancing and singing a little around the living room so he's in good spirits and feeling the love of a nation 🇦🇺🙏💜 He under estimates his value to the Australian public - a national treasure. He is 'the voice' and always will be. 💜 Check out john singing with jimmy Barnes 'when something is wrong with my baby' 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺Guy Sebastian - believer (the voice Australia live performance and dedication to his wife), choir, standing with you, before I go, and guy sings 'The prayer' with the voice Australia grand final winner bella Taylor smith (mind blowing). Check bella Taylor smith audition song for the voice Australia (Ave Maria) the judges were speechless and guy took bella on his national tour. 🇦🇺80s rock Vanessa Amorosi (Sydney Olympics 2000 - Heroes) Inxs
Some singers/Bands seem to get caught up in the glitz and glamour of fame and in some ways seem to take the fans for granted. Listening to interviews of people talking about John in his early years even thought he found fame it never seemed to go to his head. Then he went into a slump and as he said in one part , there was a time he couldn't even take his son to McDonalds he was that broke, then his manager Glenn Wheatley had a vision for John and backed that up mortgaging his house. In a way I think that slump helped him when he hit fame with Whispering Jack. He knew his fans were paying hard earned money to go see him, so he always performed the best he could for his fans, he loved and appreciated them as much as they did him. You only have to watch when he gets down at the front of the stage to touch fans hands etc. That is why his live performances are always so much better than studio versions even though they had equipment to make it sound good, you can't beat enthusiasm, and john had it in bucket's full for his concerts. I love seeing your enthusiasm for John.
There’s one called A Comic Conversation, John interacts and jokes with the audience, I love the song as well. I believe you’ll love it you’ll see the John we ❤
John Farnham did musical theatre rock version of Jesus Christ Superstar as Jesus, with kate cebrano and jon stevens (noiseworks). Jon Stevens still rocking stages today with jimmy Barnes and our 80s rock royalty. Aussie 80s rock so great! My music i was 15yo in 1980 to 25yo 1990. My favourite music and it's all still popular with younger generations.

ok fun fact John Farnham loves horse riding and doing cuttung where you cut a stear out of a herd he has even done celebrity competitions in tamworth and won
They will definitely go into his life story as its apart of his struggle to be reconized as the incredible singer he is .Us Aussies are real ,if nothing else .

It's because he did the long hard yards is the reason why he is so appreciative of his fans. ❤ he never ever takes us for granted
It's not often that you go to the movies to watch a doco...but I'll be going to this one.
