The reason he recorded more live stuff t than records is because nobody believed him, they thought it was a trick. When he first met Eric Clapton Eric told him to go first. They plugged up, Stevie improved stone riffs, and Eric unplugged and walked away.
Stevie Ray Vaughan seemed too good to be real, but he really was that good. He’s playing live in this video with a bass player and drummer. That’s it. No prerecorded track, no lighting gimmicks, no backup guitars or vocals, and the music is just awesome. His career and life were too short, and yet he’s still inspiring generations of guitarists.
I watch EVERY new Rookie SRV who reacts to this song! You did not disappoint! We are always eager to see the looks on your faces when you witness this greatness! The blues tapped into spiritual emotion, so the system did everything in its power to kill it. Thank God for these recordings. Soak it up, man. It will change you forever. Stevie was one of the best human gifts God ever gave the world in music. React to Stevie's "Sound Check" it's literally a concert, and watch how he literally is straight out of bed and crusty-eyed as FK. And maybe on a Live, if you're doing them, Look up Stevie's concerts at Montreaux in the 1980's. Watch the crowd. They didn't know what to do with all that greatness. Always listen to him LIVE, there's no studio recording that can catch what you watch. He's the first musician I saw dump his entire soul on the stage, and the least I could ever do was pay homage by watching. NEVER LOOK AWAY! Also, "Life without you" at the Capitol Theatre is great. Amazing, Gifted. And he was also a GIFT!
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness For the next two in the must-see SRV collection: **Life Without You at Capitol Theater** **Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989** Albert King was Stevie's Godfather, btw. Sadly, Stevie was killed in a helicopter crash in 1990. He was as equally a great human as he was a beast on the guitar.
Correct. Dude have the shoes off his feet and shirt off his back numerous times in Austin. He's a Texas nationalists treasure. We still make these kind of men.
😂😂😂 I absolutely LOVE watching people react to this legend!! You don't hear him play, you FEEL him play and it's great EVERY TIME! Thank you, great reaction!
Many great old blues musician's considered Stevie Ray Vaughan better than Jimi Hendrix. Every big name back then wanted to play with SRV, this includes, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, BB King, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and the list goes on. SRV was the GOAT!!!!!!
Stevie actually played behind his back quite a bit...it was like breathing to him...The absolute best! I vote for anything from his live performance at the Capitol Theatre in 1985....or from this same performance at the El Mocambo..
Ok: You did Albert King and you did Stevie Ray Vaughn well if you've got some time ---> Stevie Ray Vaughan & Albert King - Blues At Sunrise (Unreleased) It will be the best 1/2 hour you ever spent. Since it's long: if you just check it out on your own w/o a reaction please just mention what you thought in a future reaction. Enjoy it friend
Stevie Ray Vaughn was born October 3rd 1954 in Dallas Texas and had a brother named Jimmy Vaughn who was 3 years older than Stevie, Jimmy got an electric guitar and Stevie loved the sound and would play it when Jimmy was away. ForS Stevies's 7th birthday he got a toy guitar and with that toy taught himself to play Wine,Wine Wine and Thunderbird by The Night Caps. When Stevie was 10 he joined a band called The Chantones, his 1st gig was at a roller rink in Austin so Jimmy gave him his electric guitar and Stevie used that up to his death. In 1977 Stevie put a band together called The Triple Threat Review with Lou Ann Barton on vocals, when Lou Ann left on June 27,1979 Stevie took over vocals. Stevie's drummer Chris Layton joined his band on September 10, 1979 and in 1980 Stevie changed the name to Double Trouble and Stevie's basses Tommy Shannon joined Double Trouble on June 6th 1981, Stevie met Tommy when Stevie was still in school and they both were in a band called Kracker Jack.on June 13, 1983 Stevie released a album called Texas Flood, even though Stevie's career only 7 yrs he won 5 W.C. Handy Awards, 10 Grammy's and in 2000 he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame, in 1983 he was the first musician to be induced into The Austin Music Hall Of Fame and in 2015 The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. On December 13,1989 Stevie and Jeff Beck are the only 2 guitar players to win triple awards for their guitar playing. On September 10, 1983 Stevie won a W.C Handy Award, Best Instermental of the yr and Best Traditional Blues Album for Texas Flood he was the 1st white man to win either. On August 26th 1990, Stevie flew to East Troy Wisconsin to open 2 concerts for Eric Clapton along with Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and his brother Jimmy at the Alpine Music Theater. Jimmy said Stevie came down from his hotel room and told them he had a weird dream he had died and he was looking down at all these people crying but even though he was dead he felt at peace. After Eric Clapton finished his last show they all got on stage and performed Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson. On August 27 1990 Stevie Ray Vaughn boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain right after takeoff and everyone on board were killed instantly, the piolet had just failed his test using the gages for that helicopter, he never flew at night or foggy conditions. I tried to keep it as short as I could and given you some information on how great Stevie really was. SRV WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOAT.
Thank you Sylvia. That was the most fact based informative post I’ve ever read about SRV in one go. I love and miss SRV dearly. IMO - SRV was the greatest blues guitarist of all time or at least that I’ve ever heard. It’s not just that by dedicating his life to playing guitar and doing concert up to the moment of his passing, it was how he played with all his humble heart and without ever learning how to read music. Magical. He seemed so very humble and down to earth. My first husband adored SRV in the 80’s. SRV was his favorite musician and he brought me to a Jazz Festival and we watched him play, along with BB King in attendance. I was in my 20’s. Sadly, my first spouse passed two years after SRV, at 34 in a car accident. Every time I hear SRV it reminds me of a wonderful era and great times. I love SRV’s tunes more than ever and thankful of YT posts of SRV. Forever adored and most certainly never forgotten. We love you SRV! ✌️❤️
Fun story about Stevie and Albert King , Albert was playing at Antoine’s in Austin one night and Stevie drove Antoine crazy one night until he asked Albert if little Stevie could sit in and play with him and that is something nobody had ever done well Albert thought he would get Stevie up on stage and make him look like a fool but when Stevie got on stage Albert made up some notes and here os the funny part Stevie played Albert King notes better the Albert King . And after that Albert took Stevie under his wing and they become best friends
If you grew up in Texas you know who Stevie Ray is. I saw him a half a dozen times and he was the real deal. His older brother Jimmie is also a great guitar player.
Stevie was the only player I've seen who could really play behind his back. Most guys if the put the guitar behind their head or back have a couple of riffs down pat. Once they roll through those they flip the guitar around front again. Stevie could throw it behind him and play the dickens out of it better than most guys can play it in front.
Stevie's guitar wasn't just a guitar, it was an extension of his body. No different from his heart, brain, or hands. The man was NEVER lost on a guitar. His song " Life Without You" is an example of this. He breaks a string- changes guitar without missing a beast. Later on in the song adjusts amps for the sound he wants- is mostly for feedback purposes. Tunes guitar mid performance again, and breaks a tooth. The greatest performance I've ever witnessed. The guy was an absolute machine and arguably the greatest guitarist that may have ever walked the planet. SRV... may he rest in peace.
Gotta check out Stevie and his brother Jimmie playing pipeline it is by far my favorite video of Stevie. I was fortunate enough to see him 6 times in concert and saw him at the Benson and Hedges Blues Fest in Costa Mesa California 2 months before he was taken from us. Just devastated me
SRV loved Albert King and Albert was his mentor. SRV died tragically in a helicopter crash after his Alpine Valley concert In Wisconsin. He was a treasure and his music 🎶 eternal. He has a beautiful tune where he doesn’t sing called “Riviera Paradise.” It’s so calming and yes, he is playing behind his back. He sounds like two people playing at the same time in “Texas Flood.” He loved Jimi Hendrix and when he sings “Voodoo Chile”, he adds his own amazing ability to the magic from Jimi
You just stumbled upon what I consider THE PERFORMANCE I'd put up against the devil himself at the cross-roads! Try his duet with Johnny Copeland called "Tin Pan Alley". R.I.P. SRV GOAT
It was always amazing to see Stevie get in the "zone". The music just flowed from his soul. He was a great guy outside of music too. The world lost a great one.
Stevie and Albert were great friends. Stevie openly acknowledged that Albert was one of his inspirations and they performed together a few times. Their performance together of "Tin Pan Alley" is a must see.
Well now you're going to have to watch Stevie and Albert performing together. Or, you can watch SRV and BB King throwing down together. And many, many other collaborations the great, Stevie Ray Vaughn did. Welcome aboard the SRV train!!
Stevie most definitely played as you see him, live onstage, guitar behind his back, guitar over his head and didn’t miss a beat. He breaks strings, keeps playing, has quick guitar switch and he didn’t miss a beat and we all were there for it. Miss Stevie
My absolute all time favorite ❤️❤️❤️. And yes!!! There are plenty more videos. Always watch SRV live for amor amazing mind boggling guitar amazement. And I always suggest Life Without You live from The Capitol Theater is great!!! If you watch closely towards the end, you will see him do a guitar trick, then spit lol and then look off stage and mouth “lost my tooth”…”gone”!!! And he continues to look around the stage while finishing the song. It may have only been a cap that came loose or something like that😂. But I think it crazy amazing.
Check out Look At Little Sister, smoothest guitar 🎸 change ever in my opinion. Also Life Without You. Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, His brother Jimmy was one of his idols, check them playing Pipeline amazing.
Stevie was the GOAT, could play with his teeth. He got killed in a helicopter crash at the age of 35.,in 1990.his brother is also a great guitar player, Jimmie Vaughn
Stevie is the most under rated guitarist ever. Look up when he met Eric Clapton for the first time. If you can't find it let me know, but go down that rabbit hole. Dude was a legend.
And for all his amazing gifts, SRV couldn't read music at all - his guitar was an extension of his soul via his body. Gone way too soon, but I guess his job here was done. RIP Stevie ❤ I recommend Life Without You live at the Capital Theater, Voodoo Child & Look At Little Sister Live in Austin (84' I think?) Also, a clinic in cold Texas Blues, SRV & Johnny Copeland, live - Tin Pan Alley. Any SRV will knock your socks off though! All the Sessiins of SRV & Albert King are fantabulous! My favs are Don't Lie To Me, Blues At Sunrise & Born Under A Bad Sign. Thanks for a fun reaction! 😊
I grew up on Albert King, I'll have to check out that one next. Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign was one of the first albums I ever bought. I had the pleasure of seeing him live many times.
I must say that you picked the perfect performance in taking your first step into the Stevie Ray rabbit hole, the whole runs deep my Friend and I'm sure that you will enjoy the journey on seeing how far it goes, may I suggest that you check out a session of Stevie Ray and Albert King recorded in Hamilton Ontario Canada quite a few years ago, its on you tube and I hope you choose to check out it out next, or a.s.a.p., Thank You for allowing us to witness your first step down the rabbit hole, God Bless
Albert King was Stevie’s biggest influence and mentor. The connection between these two guitar giants is very deep, that’s why you were referred to Stevie. Cheers.
Put Jeff Healy on your Itinerary. If you (spoiler) want to be blown away by a blind man playing the blues with a rocking jazz flavor. Stevie Ray found Jeff apparently and helped him get a bit more exposure. There is a Jeff Healy and Stevie Ray video Called "Look at little sister."
I was fortunate to witness SRV live every chance I got!! Reason: 1st time I saw him, the word was out, how good this player is! Unaware that I just watched the impossible! My opinion the best player by far. But, here is another great recommendation: Band: Chicago Song: 25 or 6 to 4 (live performance) Guitarist: Terry Kath
Fantastic reaction to SRV! He is my personal goat for the guitar and blues music in general. He has sooo many great songs. Him and Albert King also played together, they had a close friendship too. Please check out more SRV though. He was such a humble, good soul on top of being a phenomenal musician. Fun fact: he couldn't read music. Another fun fact: he played the thickest strings on his guitar to get fat sound. He died in 1990 in a helicopter crash unfortunately. You should definitely react to "Mary Had a Little lamb" live in Austin 1989, "Life Without you" live at Capitol Theatre 1985, "Hideaway/Rude Mood" Live in Montreaux 1982, "Leave my little girl alone" live in Austin 1989, "Voodoo Chile" live in Austin 1989, "Tin Pan alley" featuring Johnny Copeland live in Montreaux 1985. A few to get you started. 😊
There were three "King's of the Blues", B.B., Albert, and Freddie, check out all of them if you want to hear great blues. Check out Stevie's cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile-Slight Return", the his cover of the Beatle's song "Tax Man".
Jeff Healey- played like Stevie Ray- and was blind- played sitting with his guitar in his lap. Good start for Jeff is live version ‘can You See the Light’. I saw Stevie Ray in the early 80’s at the Arkansas State Fair- he played in the cattle barn.
Dude, you just witnessed the greatest guitarist to ever walk the planet.
Why are the greatest taken from us. Stevie, Buddy Holly, Jim Croce. Never get on a plane or helo
100 million guitarists out of 100 million guitarist agree. *
Not reviewed by the FDA*
He's one of our boys and we'll fight over it.
Amen
Gone way, way, way too soon. RIP SRV.
SRV...aka ..THE GOAT....Purist Guitar Player Ever..FLOWED out of him
Not only the geatest guitarist of all time, but I consider this the greatest guitar performance of all time.
I assure you, this is all SRV, not a recording. Stevie was the absolute GOAT
The reason he recorded more live stuff t than records is because nobody believed him, they thought it was a trick. When he first met Eric Clapton Eric told him to go first. They plugged up, Stevie improved stone riffs, and Eric unplugged and walked away.
And sang like a boss while doing it.
BB King said SRV was the best blues player he ever heard or played with, nuff said
Stevie Ray Vaughan Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, is a must watch
💯. It’s amazing

For the next two in the must-see SRV collection:
**Life Without You at Capitol Theater**
**Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989**
Albert King was Stevie's Godfather, btw. Sadly, Stevie was killed in a helicopter crash in 1990. He was as equally a great human as he was a beast on the guitar.
I think this one has him playing with his teeth and one comes out. You have to pay atention.
Life Without You........ live always...shows you what kind of human being he really was in this performance
It makes me feel like I'm ten, been playing blues 3 years and finding this dude in 1992. He is inane. Nobody can do this.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Stevie Ray Vaughan
Many great old blues musician's considered Stevie Ray Vaughan better than Jimi Hendrix. Every big name back then wanted to play with SRV, this includes, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, BB King, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and the list goes on. SRV was the GOAT!!!!!!
Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan Don't lie to me.
Yes, yes he is playing behind his back

All authentic Stevie !!
Unfortunately he was killed in a helicopter crash in 1990. Watch Little sister. He breaks a string and swaps guitars mid song. Don't miss a beat.
From my neighborhood! Met him once at the mall. Very humble! RIP SRV!
🎸💯 Those Texas blues, children‼️🔥
🤯 SRV called his guitar "The One"!🐐
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan. ❤️🕊️🙏
You just witnessed why, when it comes to guitars, SRV is GOD
Albert King was one of SRV's main mentors. He took Stevie under his wing and guided his guitar and blues education and journey

Life Without You, live at Capitol theater. Pay attention to his guitar.
Check out Look At Little Sister, smoothest guitar 🎸 change ever in my opinion. Also Life Without You. Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, His brother Jimmy was one of his idols, check them playing Pipeline amazing.
It's getting harder and harder to find someone who really appreciates electric blues guitar who hasn't heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Right?
Stevie made a live session with Albert King.
Life without you at the capitol theater is a must
My favorite SRV~❤
Thanks for your wonderful reactions to the G.O.A.T. Stevie Ray Vaughan.. react to his 'Sound Check" video the skill he has is unbelievable!.. R.I.P.
Stevie was the GOAT, could play with his teeth. He got killed in a helicopter crash at the age of 35.,in 1990.his brother is also a great guitar player, Jimmie Vaughn

Welcome to the SRV rabbit hole it goes deep
RIP SRV
One song never recorded live is Life by the Drop, acoustic SRV is magic. SRV is the guitar man's guitar man. Emotion on steroids.
Albert King was Stevie’s biggest influence and mentor. The connection between these two guitar giants is very deep, that’s why you were referred to Stevie. Cheers.
For Blues guitar, keyboards and saxophone + vocals..check out the brothers Johnny and Edgar Winter- Tobacco Road.
Stevie didn't play guitar, he was actually possessed by it and the guitar played him
I was fortunate to witness SRV live every chance I got!!
Reason: 1st time I saw him, the word was out, how good this player is! Unaware that I just watched the impossible! My opinion the best player by far.
But, here is another great recommendation:
Band: Chicago
Song: 25 or 6 to 4 (live performance)
Guitarist: Terry Kath
You gotta listen to Jeff Healy live doing As the years go passing by, it's truly amazing that this blind man absolutely owns the blues
Jimi Hendrix, Electric Church Red House Blues, is a must.
Stevie the Guitar 🎸 Goat❤❤❤you wouldn't have a Stevie if it wasn't for Albert King influence
You have to check out Stevie and Johnny Copeland doing Tin Pan Alley ❤❤❤❤ the Sweat comes from the Soul❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was a peak level musician
There´s another King, Freddie King !🙂
Nope that's not recorded,,,That's all Stevie.
Ply life with out you
🐐🎸🔥❤️😍😢 RIP STEVIE!!
Wait till you discover the Stevie and Albert session. It's nothing but an hour and half of Stevie and Albert playing guitar and singing together
There were three "King's of the Blues", B.B., Albert, and Freddie, check out all of them if you want to hear great blues. Check out Stevie's cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile-Slight Return", the his cover of the Beatle's song "Tax Man".
GOAT ...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
