Hi everyone: I hope you enjoyed this video about Sint Maarten. I was originally planning on publishing it earlier today, but exporting the video took quite a bit longer than I initially thought. So, if you're living in The Netherlands, now you can already put the 11th of November in your agenda for next year, so you will have candies inside your home (if it's celebrated in your area). We had a lot of kids this afternoon/evening (they usually walk between 17:00/17:30 and 19:30). But yeah, I hope you enjoyed a little deep dive into one of my favourite Dutch traditions!
🎃The Dutch Halloween🎃 I have always had candy for the kids, but would also offer tangerines which the little ones particularly liked. One year I was sick so did what you said and put a bowl full of candy at my front door with a note to just take one and leave the rest for others. Nope, it was gone in one fell swoop. One year there were more kids than expected so because I had worked at Kleine-Goedhart for a while I had some loose candy hanging around, so quickly made up some little bags for them. This tiny child looked at me and said: DAT moet ik niet!🤣 Thank you for the history lesson.🌹
Oh nooo, I guess there will always be some who ruin it for the rest😅 perhaps it’s also my village way of thinking though, because if someone would do it here the neighbours and other kids will tell them off. Also, I can’t believe a kid refused the candy😂😂 spoiled, little ones.

We just came back from the candle walk in Aambos (gorgeous small forestry park in Heerlen) organized by our nursery. Wonderful tradition ❤
Ahh amazing, I’m so glad your family had a great time! It’s definitely a wonderful tradition, always so cosy 😌🙌🏻
