    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  9 місяців тому +1

      No exactly, but if you type Shift+F1, Reaper will open up a web browser with a list of all the shortcuts. Do a word search for "reatooled" and it will take you to the ReaTooled key command section of the document

    Dear Brendan, this great and so important contribution to sound design community !!!
    I was wondering if I could overlook it. But it concerns one of the key features of editing envelope follow selection, which in Reaper I guess by default was shift+command, in protools there is "active handle" on clip which follow selection by dragging ... .. why is not included ? or how you go about this function in ReaTools ? Thank you very much for your replay in advance.

    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  9 місяців тому

      Hello and thanks for your question, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean exactly. In ReaTooled, envelope follows selection is turned "ON" by default. You can turn this off by toggling the "move envelop points with media items" button. Meanwhile Shift+Command+(drag) when editing envelope points should make a time selection, and then you can move those selected envelope points as a group separately from the item/clip if you want to (which is a kind of editing that isn't possible in PT as far as I know). But a "time selection" in Reaper works a little differently in Reaper than in Pro Tools; in Pro Tools clip and edit selections are basically the same thing--when you select a clip, you are actually making an "edit selection," and that edit selection also includes the envelope. Reaper, there are many different types of "selections"--1) time selections, 2) item (clip) selection, and 3) razor selections. So when "move envelop points with media items" is turned on in Reaper, your time or clip or razor selection should also apply to the envelope just like in PT. But then you can do additional editing to the envelope by itself if you want, too. Basically I've tried to make ReaTooled work as closely as possible to Pro Tools while still allowing for the additional types of editing Reaper offers.
      So could you give me an example of the kind of edit you're trying to do that's causing you problems, and how you're expecting to do it differently?

      @@BrendanBaker Thank you very much for your reply, I uploaded 3 videos to explain the behaviour; Regarding "selection" I meant "time selection" and default behavior Shift + Command + Drag to adjust envelope segment within time selection this way I do work in Reaper ua-cam.com/video/5gv2vxnQalc/v-deo.html which is very closed to PT clip gain line and adjustments of highlighted audio region ua-cam.com/video/tNlyMH-_964/v-deo.html.
      When working with ReaTooled conf. I'm loosing this behaviour (see video pls) I could restore to reset mouse modifier to factory default context (in the second half in video) ua-cam.com/video/I8YMOCTGeSo/v-deo.html.
      I believe it might be small problem but I brings me to bigger context. I think you created great design with version 2.2 which feels like having a layer of PT compatible workflow + option to use personal layer of personalized Reaper behaviour and workflow. For my is a question of how to "know" that I'm not messing e.g. your mouse modifiers and could bring just extension I need - so basically my concerns are related to topic of "How to personalize Reatooled and dont loosing its fundamental functionality ?"
      I believe that ReaTooled can bridge big and permanent challenge with workflow in post-production for everyone moving between PT and Reaper. Already your Reaper Radio Template was already "benchmark" in radio postpro (at least at FAMU Prague since 2021 :)) I hope that ReaTooled can even go further to Film Sound Postpro environment. Will be very interesting to have Q&A session.

    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  9 місяців тому

      Okay, thanks for your videos, now I understand the problem. To fix this, change your mouse modifiers from this i.imgur.com/oY7GwJZ.png to this i.imgur.com/f0tHu5z.png -- luckily, this particular mouse modifier will NOT interfere with any of ReaTooled settings at the moment (because the "tool modes" DO rely on changing other mouse modifiers via scripts). I will also consider revising this setting in the next version of ReaTooled -- thank you for pointing it out! :-) And let me know if you discover any other weirdness.
      And I'm curious about what you said about my Reaper radio template being a "benchmark." Have you met other people who are using it? If so, that's very cool to hear! If there are any groups who want to talk with me about it, I would be happy to to a Q&A.

    HI Brendan, I'm having a heck of a time with looping the project as I mix. I'll select a section on the time line & set RT to loop. And sometime it'll stop looping as Im mixing. Or I'll hit space bar to stop & time line selection will get 'de-selected'. Am I missing something with the insertion follows playback in RT? Thanks!

    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  7 місяців тому +1

      Ah, I see what you're talking about. In PT the time selection clears after the transport stops when "insertion follows playback" is on and but isn't cleared when IFP off. I had set ReaTooled to always clear thinking that was how PT manages its time selections in all modes. UPDATE: I found the offending code and will include this revision in the next update to ReaTooled. Thanks for this feedback and let me know if run into other surprises like this!

    Hi Brendan, I've been using Reatooled for a while and am enjoying all the new updates you've done. Thanks! On my v1 version of reatooled I created some custom scripts and custom actions and as you noted above found that these get overwritten when installing v2.2 Is there a good guide you know of to export them from my reatooled v1 version and then re-import them so I can use them in v2.2?

    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  7 місяців тому

      Unfortunately there's not currently an automated way to do this. But you can export your selected custom actions by going into the Action List, clicking the Key Map... button, like so: imgur.com/GoCjiYn - Then you can re-import those actions and scripts after you update.
      But for scripts, you may have to back up and re-import them manually, too.
      BTW ReaTooled v2.3 is just around the corner if you want to wait until I've released that (probably this week)

    • @scenerystudiosuk
      @scenerystudiosuk 7 місяців тому

      @@BrendanBaker Thanks a lot for that, that now makes sense. It seems like when you import the custom action you have to re-assign the keymap unless I'm doing something wrong. Are you aware of what the different import options mean in terms of "import all sections", "ignore other sections" and "map to this section"? Thanks again for all your hard work on all this. It works great for me as I'm trying to maintain up to date knowledge of Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro and Ableton. One less to remember.

    Any idea why the grid not matching the tempo?

    • @BrendanBaker
      @BrendanBaker  8 місяців тому +1

      The grid actually DOES match the tempo but there's also arrange view background shading via the "divide arrange view vertically" preference--which is technically a bit different from the Grid. In ReaTooled, I've set the default arrange background to alternate shading every 5 measures at 120 BPM. This way, the alternating shading indicates a 10-second passage of time; this is helpful for eyeball-measuring how long a passage is for radio/podcast/post-style editing. You can disable that in the preferences here: i.imgur.com/5F8o7jW.png and then make sure the actual Grid is turned on with one of these buttons i.imgur.com/LDqwkXl.png
