5 years ago, during the summer I went to Maine with my family. My nephew and I would go out at night after walking the dog, maybe 8-9 o' clock and do a night watch to make sure the house was safe because there were coyotes and wolves in the area. ( We had makeshift blowguns and real bows with rounded arrows.) We went out and in about 5 minutes, I saw a pair of glowing red eyes in the bushes about 500 feet away. It was pitch black outside and I was 13 so that scared me. I booked it back to the house and was like "Peace! You can be dinner!" to my nephew. Then he walked back slowly. I was scared.

That's so sad!! I HATE IT when people are cruel to animals. It's seriously so awful. I hope the seal pup is okay! The last time I saw wildlife was probably seeing a deer on the side of the road this fall, my parents live in the boondocks so we see animals all the time. Once, we were watching a movie all together, and we saw a black bear just casually walk across our front lawn in the night. Kind of crazy! My dad also interacts with wildlife in an... interesting way. He has a big birdfeeder and loves to sit and watch the birds, but sometimes squirrels get into the feeder and scare the birds away, so he sits on the porch with a BB gun and shoots them. My dad just really loves the birds. :P

I think it's a little sea lion pup. Seals move on land by flopping on their belly, sea lions actually "walk" on their flippers. So cuteee

Since it's full blown winter here, there's not much for wildlife right now. That said, back at my parents house, we would see bunnies, squirrels, turtles and once saw a beaver. They lived about 15 minutes (by car) from the river, so I'm guessing the beaver was just strolling along and found some scent (BBQ perhaps) before wandering into the village!

I live in Australia, so seeing wild life is a common day occurrence. Where I grew up, our home was backed onto bush lands, so there was always a huge array of birds around, as well as micro bats, wallabies, possums, snakes and lizards. Even here in Sydney where I'm living now, there's still plenty of wild animals to be seen. Fruit bats fill the sky at dusk, birds are all through the parks, and suburbs, possums hang out in rooftops and we even have whales and seals stop by in Sydney Harbour. All the wild life make for fantastic photography (I'd add a link of photos I've taken, but that would be shameless self promoting).

I went and visited my grandmother in Oregon last summer and we went to the beach. While we were there, there was many sea lions lounging on a rock cropping several yards away from the shoreline. They would slide down into the water and then crawl back out, but none of them came to the actual beach.

I live by the ocean so I see seals, jellyfish and lots of other creatures on the beach often unfortunately... But last time I saw wildlife was today accually, it was a wild boar that was running around in our backyard, IT WAS MAD!! It was running into our glass doors, trees and plants, I dont really know what was wrong with it... But since it is so rare here by the coast we decided to go up on our roof to watch it from a closer perspective, when all of us was on the roof, one of my brothers was starting to overbalance and accidentaly hit my back, he stayed up on the roof but I fell down (on grass). And the wild boar saw me, (oh shit), and it started to run towards me, I ran to the door but it was locked so I ran around the house screaming to my brothers. It took several minutes to make my brothers unlock the door so I could get in. #roughmonday

I had a similar experience myself in seeing wildlife close, I was staying at a beach campsite 3 hours south of where I live in Australia and a seal pup swam on the beach. The pup was fine he just needed to chill as later when he swam away he waved back, it was very cute :). Though you need to be careful even when they are scared they could attack - that was what the wildlife department said when we rung them up.

When I went to America on holiday I saw loads of really cool things like sea lions and elephant seals. The problem is I don't have any great stories to tell from that. Recently I went to Grenada (the Caribbean Island) and went on a boat trip where apparently we were guaranteed to swim with turtles which no one really believed. When we got there it was AMAZING!! There were turtles everywhere! I even managed to swim down and stroke one of them on the shell. There were even little baby ones. Definitely a memorable experience. Shame my parents wouldn't let me buy an underwater camera.

I see wild life all the time because I live out in the country when I'm not at college. We have deer, raccoons, possums, skunks, coyotes...However, this last summer I was out digging weeds and I saw something flapping around on the barbed wire fence. It was an owl that had somehow caught its thigh on a barb in the fence and was hanging upside down. I watched it for a little bit to see what I could do before driving back to the house to get a knife to see if I could cut it loose. There was no way I was leaving it there to die like that. I spent over an hour working around its one free leg and flapping wings to cut it loose. My mom finally came and while I distracted it, she cut through its feathers and some of its skin. I'd been holding the bottom three wires out of its way so it fell straight to the ground. It was not a happy owl and was gimping around a long while, but we left it be. When my mom came back an hour later, it was gone.

I don't know how much Matthias knows about Jacksonville, but for some reason, Canadian geese FLOCK here like crazy. They chill and honk and poop EVERYWHERE.
But considering they are at my school all the time, I don't consider them "wildlife" anymore XD So the last thing I saw was bunny rabbits hopping around my boyfriend's family's house! I don't see bunnies often, so it's always exciting when I do! :D

The last time I saw wild life is when my family went on a road trip to The coast of Oregon, we were driving along the coast and we saw that there were lots of cars parked along the side and people were looking at the water, and so we got out to see what was going on and there was a grey whale so close to us and it was so cool and it was spraying water everywhere. It was and amazing experience. We were watching it for like half an hour until it went away.

Last time I saw wildlife, was in Tennessee. I saw 8 bears and at one point we were like 20 feet from one. It was awesome. My dad was making jokes about hugging it. It was in a sort of forest preserve thing and one of the rangers gave my his binoculars. My mom got some awesome pictures but my camera took a poop and wouldn't work. I learned that they use clear paint balls to keep them away from people. Its just enough to get them to walk away. And they use clear so there aren't multicolored black bears roaming around.

I was cycling last summer with my friend just for fun, we got a bit out off our town and out to some fields. There was a very step hill and when we cycled by I saw two or three dears up on the hill. It felt pretty weird, unreal and really awesome. I was going to take a photo of them but they ran in to the woods when I picked up my phone. I have had some more animal experience like being chased by a bird because it wanted my apple I ate but the last one was when I saw dose dears. Sorry for bad English, English grammar is not my strongest thing, a fan from Sweden. :D

But my uncle and his family live on in a more remote village and they have deer and other wildlife in their backyard all the time.

When we went to Florida we went on this bus tour from Kennedy Space Center and saw SO MUCH WILDLIFE! When we were on the highway there was a herd of cattle just on the side of the street! Then when we pulled into the viewing platform for one of the launch pads, and there were turtles everywhere! THEN we were driving over a bridge and we saw WILD. MANATEES. It was amazing, I had never seen wild manatees before! And finally on top of all that, we saw an ALLIGATOR just sitting in a stream by the side of the road, it was INSANE! So if you are looking for wild life, then I would suggest going to Florida.

I have two stories actually three. There was time when me and my family go to the beach, but we don't go there anymore but every time we take our boat and ride on the water. A Dolphins will be near our boat begging for food. It was really cool even though we try to feed and the Dolphins misses. Another time was when a wolf or coyote ran in the middle of the other side road it stand there for a second or two before heading off back into the woods. Then there this was a baby raccoon a month or two it was very young. We watched it walk on the grass heading towards the road. What it did it ran in front of the cars luckily no one hit but it made on the other side of the road and climb a tree. It was very rare to see a baby raccoon coming out during the day.

AotD: Well, I live pretty close to a forest and have a big pond in it, so I see wildlife quite often. Especially when I hang out there with friends or take a walk. There are a lot of deer, rabbits, (mah favorite) foxes, boars and many more.
But, answering the question, last time I saw a wild animal was in October when I was driving to the city and (WARNING) I saw a pile of red guts, which was a little fox. Someone hit it while it was trying to cross the road.
The city should do something about that, because it happens quite often.

Not recently but my dad use to breed/rear birds of prey, like hawks and owls, so I got to be around them when I was younger which was pretty cool. That's a sea lion. Seals are chubbier and don't have the little ear flaps. Seals also don't have big enough fins to "walk" on. They have to wiggle their way around.

Last time I saw wildlife up close is more a funny story than anything. I work in an airplane hangar some days, and it was getting cold in Texas. These two raccoons just strolled into our work area and went straight for our trashcans and jumped right in. We were able to get within a foot of them (close enough to take good pictures) and they were just "Lolwutchu gon do?" (of course no one wanted to get close because rabies). I ended up banging a pipe against the metal trashcan, but one of the little boogers grabbed a Poptart before moseying away. Literally, he just waddled off, he wasn't scared or anything. :P
Also, today is my 2-year anniversary with my SO, and I'm shamelessly plugging this in to say you guys have a pretty awesome relationship together. :D

We lived like 20 miles away from the town on the other side of the mountain. Our nearest neighbor was half a mile away. We loved it. Lol but I was just walking around like normal and when I got to the top of the hill I could see a small pack of coyotes it was pretty cool. And I guess that there was also mountain lions in the area. I don't remember the last time I saw wildlife, but I live in the city and every so often there are deers and they come through our back yard. Well there was this deer that was sleeping near our back porch. My sister went to go outside to tan, she didn't notice the deer until about 10 minutes later she heard something eating her raspberries that she had sitting in a bowl on the patio table. She went to go take a picture but the deer got scared and ran away. She named the deer "Rebecca" so every time she sees a deer in our back yard she says its Rebecca.

When I was in California back in October, while i was taking pictures at Charlie Brown's Farms, I saw what I thought to be a coyote a little ways up a nearby mountain. I took a few pictures and went back in the store to meet my aunt for lunch. When we got back to her house, there was a message on her machine from a friend saying to stay away from Littlerock (where Charlie Brown's is located) because there was a mountain lion spotted close to the road. I checked my camera, and sure enough, it was the lion. Thankfully, two days later I returned home to where the worst I have to contend with are deer, squirrels and chipmunks

The last time I saw wildlife, I was at a camping trip for my volunteering club. Because we were trying to save money, we had to carpool which was fun and crowded. The drive to the campsite was 6 hours away and we left at around 12pm.
Somehow we got lost when we were only minutes away from the camp. The GPS told us that we were there but it was dark outside and it looked like we were in the middle of nowhere. We drove around for awhile hoping that we would find a sign of some sort. Suddenly, a white horse appeared out of nowhere! We freaked out but luckily we didn't swerve into anything. We thought it was a ghost horse because it was so white.
When we did finally make it to the camp, we told people there about it and the owner of the camp said that there was a horse ranch near by and the owner often let the horses roam around. It explained why we saw the horse, but I kept wondering why someone would let their horses roam at night.

It wasn't really the last time I saw wildlife, but this is the story I would like to share. When I was younger my mom, my older sister and I was driving on a highway on vacation and my mom had just got her new car. It is a small purple HHR. Well on our trip we saw a group of bison and they were around the same size as the car so my mother sort of panicked a bit because we saw some of the bison fighting for what appeared to be mating season.. And we were suppose to stop but my mom went right through it because she was terrified that her new car would break long XD
While me and my older sister were amazed my mom never gave us a chance to even look at them for longer than a minute. At first I was disappointed, but now that I think about it I am sort of glad we drove past themXD

I was once sunbathing in a public park with a friend and we saw this female duck who was really messed up and didn't do well and it had a nest, so we called the animal rescue. They came and looked for the female duck and the nest. They found both, but couldn't do anything, since they can't just take it away from its nest, but they agreed with us that the female duck was looking really bad, but the main reason to its poor condition was that all the male ducks were in heat and constantly wanted to mate with it. Omg, men are such beasts!

I turned and a saw a bat on my floor looking at me. Now you would think a girl would scream and run out of the room but I didn't. I just calming called my dad to come to my room and he came and said what the heck how did it get in. Than my brother came into my room asking if we saw a bat and I pointed at my floor. My brother put on heavy duty gloves and picked it up and put it back outside. Oh also while it was in my room my kitten Nymbus wanted to play with it. So needless to say we had to lock the cats and dog in a separate room so they or the bat didn't get hurt

Last time I saw "nature" Back when i lived in Louisiana There was this house that was fenced in and there was an alligator in the yard, and as cajuns are, we were all around the chain link fence looking at and watching these men trying to wrangle it and it went underneath a small sports car that was in an open garage, and it lifted the car up like it was checking the oil or something. It was a good 8 foot alligator. They finally captured it and brought it to the swamps to line out the rest of its days, LOL

OK real story. Lol not the last, but the most interesting time was probably way back in grade 9 or 10. I found a little vole (they're really cute, same as lemmings but with tails) on the sidewalk in the middle of winter and it looked so cold I wanted to take it home, but unfortunately I didn't have any gloves or something to put it in :( I came back a few minutes later, but it was gone D: at least I took a picture!

I think I was in 1st grade when this happened but my grandma, my aunt Debbie and I went to the library and saw a bird at the bottom of one of the bushes (I think it was a pigeon) and something was wrong with one of the wings. We were trying to help it and after awhile the pigeon started flying. I can't exactly remember everything though.

So I've lived in Hawaii for 22 years and have NEVER seen a whale. Back in 2013 my friends asked me if I wanted to go hiking with them and go whale watching. I was like YEEEEEES!!!! Haha, I was pretty excited. So we hiked up by the lighthouse in Hawaii Kai. Once we got to the top, we saw a bunch of humpback whales' tales splashing the surface of the water. As we were walking back down the hike, I saw a huge whale jump out of the water and flop back in!!! It was AMAZING! Glad I got to experience that before I moved. Lol!

In my country (Malta in Europe) we don't have that many animals to see so I haven't seen a lot. Though I have seen a bunch of seagulls when I last went on vacation and I found it surprising because it is very rare to see seagulls in Malta. Otherwise it was when I went to the zoo but I don't think that counts because you said WILDlife so...

Back when I was visiting my girlfriend last year we went out looking for little creatures and found a bunch of squirrels.
I think we got one addicted to doritos, he was covered in red powder and was following me wherever I went.
It's amazing how fat they can get

My dog was OMG she backyard when we were on our trampoline. ( my brother and I) then Cody ( our dog) starts digging a hole. So I go and check it out because he doesn't do that and he is very gentle with his surroundings. So when I go, he starts pulling out fur. Then when I step closer he backs away and points. I take out more fur..... and then....
WE FOUND BABY BUNNIES!!! And the ironic thing is, a couple years ago, Cody dig up a hole... IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE!! Well anyway that is my story. Thanks for reading this.

well this wasnt the last time we saw wildlife, but recently my cat decided to catch a robin and bring him in the house, i dont know how he caught the darn thing as hes declawed, but he did. My dad went downstairs to find feathers everywhere, turns out the cat plucked an area about 1" diameter (give or take) of feathers from the birds back. We took the bird outside and he seemed to be ok as he flew away later.

Qotd: so only like two weeks ago, when the weather got warm for no reason, my family were at Bass Pro and night was falling and we were about to go home when we saw a dazed groundhog in the parking lot. He wasn't aggressive or anything but he would have gotten hurt if we left him there as people were already messing with him. So we put him in a disc golf bag put him in the car and took him home( not sure what else to do). At home we put him in the bathtub in a box and called many people. Everyone said he probably woke up from hibernation early because of the warm weather, and this was why he was dazed, he was tired. They told us to put him back, but we couldn't put him back in the parking lot so the next morning when it was still dark we put him in the field little ways from the lot, and he walked off to go back to sleep.
