Thank you for this video and all that you do - as someone who has had little interest in politics - how can I start to get involved - as I do believe that going forward we should be aware and involve ourselves in all aspects of our lives.
Ooh there's lots you can do, Jill! Start going to council meetings, even if you don't speak at the Have Your Say section, just being there and taking notes of what they are doing is helpful and get friends to come with you. It's all about the numbers.
And start publicising what the council are doing so everyone around you knows as well. And sharing videos like this is also helpful.
I've had zero interest in politics in the past but have found watching the local council meetings strangely fascinating... which I hope future videos here will convey!

You are shining a spotlight on a murky and misunderstood world of local governance that impacts each of our lives on a daily basis, costs us a small fortune and frankly is more important to each and every one of us than we actually realise. I have no real idea what these councillors are up to, or rather I didn't until you popped up on my radar!
Your efforts deserves far greater public awareness and exposure, something I will be promoting with all my friends and neighbours here in the Braiswick area of Colchester and beyond. I found you thanks to your excellent interview with Geoff Buys Cars.

Having been inspired by your very effective and pertinent action, I attended my first full council meeting in Harlow this evening, having watched a cabinet meeting last week. I was very pleasantly surprised by what I saw. I will continue to attend.
Security was not only pleasant but welcoming, even holding doors and smiling ! The meeting was not without cross party bickering, but quite amusing, and the mayor was very fair. They are all scared silly from the odd outburst from the public gallery, but as they are well known local characters and regular attendees, it was a little unnecessary ! All in all I feel real unobstructed communication is possible, but that is just the first visit, we will see !!
So glad you had a good first experience. We did too but the quantity of us freaked them out and that's when things went south with the searches as a condition of entrance...

I agree, I couldn't be a councillor for the same reasons that you state. When you've been used to being your own boss and getting business done compared with how the whole council is run, you know what you could tolerate and what you could not. Once upon a time I received a call from the council, asking me if I would take on s few health projects for them, the budget was £5,000. Then when I agreed, they then asked me to prove that there was a need for the projects that they asked for. I replied, you know there is a requirement for it, otherwise you wouldn't be asking me. However, if you would like me to prove there is a requirement for it, then that would cost you £5,000 in my time to research and document it. They didn't contact me again. LOL. I've got another story too, that I will share with you in private if we ever get to meet up, that project was worth £250,000. Can we have a meet-up in 2024 for those that have something to share with you?

That's hilarious they asked you to do that! I hadn't thought about organising a meetup in 24 - it's a nice idea, fitting everything in is tricky at the moment as we're doing a lot behind the scenes but if I don't get around to formally organising something, come along to the next full council meeting as we'll definitely be there!

I have respect for those that serve the interest of the people they are paid to serve. I have no respect for those that serve their own interest and caused harm. I speak form experience so I know what is going on. I also know the union and the SFO and Action Fraud the NAO Company House all seem to be turning a blind eye. My thoughts are that if there is good councillors then there aren't merely enough. However I think council watch is a brilliant idea I'm just not sure I can do this myself as I'm not very clever with the internet. Any help would greatly be appreciated as I am still recovering from a stroke.
Have you ever thought about standing for election? Who are you? You should be as open about who you are as councillors are....

Hi Rachel- first of thank you sooo very much for your hard work on our behalf- it is so very much appreciated and absolutely vital.
I have a request and a question if you please.
Now we have an admission and confirmation that cloud seeding and weather modification is going on. Do you think it is being done in the uk specifically to destroy our farming industry?
I see criss cross grid patterns across uk skies every single day- it starts off a gorgeous day, then within a few hours after they spread and our skies develop a blanket of cloud- why is this not talked about? It’s not just across Colchester. I see it across Norfolk and Suffolk every day. How can we get together with our farmers to put a stop to this? During Covid it all stopped. It’s absolutely clear when an aircraft is emitting normal exhaust ( they evaporate very quickly) this is sooo wrong.
Whilst I've witnessed plenty of it, it's not a subject I've had time to thoroughly research so can't comment. But the guys over at People's Food and Farming Alliance are studying it with soil samples and involving farmers - so go over to their website or UA-cam channel and they will no doubt do an update on their findings in due course.
How do we get other councils to stream their meetings. My anxiety does not allow me to put myself in confrontational position. And to be more active within my local area would be amazing.n
Have you checked with them to see if they do? Putting in a request to them in writing - you could say that you're anxious and unable to attend public meetings - councils have a diversity & inclusion policy so they should make the meetings available.
TBH none of us enjoy going in and doing this - I find a massive amount of EFT gets me through it! See Gary Craig on UA-cam if you've not come across it.
