We have been living part time up there for about almost 20 years. There have been lots of changes as stated in the video. Unfortunately, most were negative. It’s still a beautiful place don’t get me wrong. Most new residents are from out of state, primarily from California. It’s quite expensive for the average person to afford a place there these days. Some higher up places don’t get plow in the winter time. So you have to hire someone to plow it for you or you won’t be able to get to your cabin/mountain home. Also, don’t forget about fire season. It’s windy and dry most of the time. Some homeowners insurance companies won’t cover for homes up there, and it can get quite expensive for coverage even if you can get one. Just to name a few, so do your research diligently.

I went up to look at some property in January. That access road is no joke in the snow.

I do recommend 4-wheel or all-wheel drive! The HOA is responsible for the maintenance. There are conversations happening with the County to take over that road, so it may be a better-improved county road at some time in the future.
