- The Douro Region, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal. To travel in the Douro Line is one of the best ways to truly get to know it while enjoying a stunning landscape. It runs along 190 km and throughout most of its track it follows along the banks of the Douro river … this is the largest railway track sided by water in Portugal.
The modernization of the Douro Line, as part of the Ferrovia 2020 investment programme, covers a 58km stretch between Caíde and Régua.
