Spike Lee needs to do a "Where Are They Now" sequel to this! Or maybe PBS can do one for a quarterly telethon!
Maybe even a modern version with current accapella ensembles with some original appearances by the groups still together.
When I was 15 yrs old my mom recorded this for me from PBS. I must have watched this hundreds of times. I was discovering my love of Accappella music. I still love it! I did eventually get the soundtrack to this special.

My grandmom taped this year's ago... I was like 9 or 10 and I watched it daily. I lost the vhs tape... I'm so hype i found this... thank you for sharing this!!!!

I remember this. I was 10 years old, and my mother used to make sure that her kids were educated in other things because in the 90s, we couldn't listen to rap music unless it was christian rap.😅 I remember it was always on a freaking Saturday when we wanted to play with our friends. But we couldn't because we had to watch this whole video and it was four hours.. Even though I was young, I don't regret it because I remember all these songs..❤

My dad bought this from the TV when it aired on PBS because he thought it was so amazing... I watched this every day as a child. As an adult I’m now a musician and I attribute a lot of it to this doc. About to order it on amazon and get it made into a dvd- can’t wait to show it to my little niece so that she can fall in love with vocal music and learn!

I've been looking for about 25 years. I'm glad you found it; we wore out our VHS tape long ago...😅
my kids have been listening to this VHS tape until we wore it out and singing these songs on road trips since they were in elementary school. I wish I could find it on a CD or enhanced DVD that has been res'ed up. We can walk thru an underpass, hallway, or echoey bathroom without half of us breaking out into "don't let". I think this video was influential in how much my kids grew up loving Acappella and performing themselves. Thanks, Spike Lee!

THANK YOU!! I caught this show on PBS by accident in 1990 and was able to throw a VHS in in time to catch the tail end of Zombie Jamboree but have never seen the entire show from the beginning. My copy is starting to turn to glue and I've been looking for a HQ version forever!

So great to see again. I watched this with friends in college and we formed an a cappella group and had so much fun for years - actually won a talent contest on a version of Purple Haze by Hendrix that brought the house down:) This kind of singing is so much fun!
Thank you for loading the entire documentary. My mom had this years ago and it disappeared with one of the sisters. This is such a treasure.
