CoD UO Walkthrough - Mission #5 - Bomber (British Campaign)
• Soldier: Sgt. James Doyle (Royal Air Force)
• Diary:
September 2, 1941
Our target for today is an industrial complex inland from Rotterdam. We're holed up again in this damn Yank rattletrap the RAF likes to call Fortress 1. Give me the good old Lancaster any day. Although, I must say, these B-17s can take a hell of a beating and are armed with enough .50 caliber machine guns to repel the entire Luftwaffe. I just hope we never have to put that to the test. I still don't see the wisdom in it. Flying so high that we can barely see our targets (much so that we miss half the time) through enemy territory... IN broad daylight! Sheer folly I say. Even the fighters won't escort us much farther than Dover. Jerry always has lots of ME-109s ready to greet us. I am still amazed that after 22 missions I am still in one piece. A good bit of luck I say. I hope it lasts...

Ahh, back when call of duty was good
IStealYourBacon what the hell is wrong now????
Eric Methew everything you dweeb
Many things eric many things ,no h8storical accuracy ,no realistic mission, no real strategys , one man army shi t , no earfare feeling many other things
I played this when I was a kid
It’s still is today
Probably one of the most iconic levels in a call of duty game ever! :D
I wish they made them more like this again.
They should also remaster the old COD games such as this
Suicide Goose yes!
Liberator at cod big red one is my favorite
Car ride , truck escape was too
Man those screams when that 17 was hit by flak...
Man remember when cod showed the tragedy of war and was realistic?
It's almost impossible to find games that good nowadays. Sure, todays games are fun, but they don't feel either realistic or have the proper elements to make you feel attached.
For example, the crying men when their bomber was in flames. That really gives a real life war vibe.
Not to mention how it was helpless for other crews to rescue let alone retrieve a fallen comrade from a stricken plane
the new modern warfare games, at least their campaigns are trying... but maybe trying too hard.
@@admiralprince7925 I imagine it's the shareholders screwing up what the developers are allowed to do.
"Realistic wartime emotions? No way! Act like it's B-movie Hollywood or you're fired!"
For those wondering, the B17s you are flying WITH are F variants. There are several discrepancies featured in this game, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, just some inaccuracies to point out for those wondering how accurate this game is. This mission's date is 1941, but B-17Fs (came in late 1942) are the planes seen in this mission but the interior that you play this mission in is actually a B-17G.
My guess is, the devs researched an actual B-17 at some air museum and since most surviving B-17s today are G variants, they simply recreated the interiors they saw. As for the exterior, I would imagine they probably looked up some images on Google or something and built the outside model based off the first or best looking picture they saw.
As mentioned earlier, the interior is actually modeled after a G variant. You can tell this by observing the following:
- Staggered waist gunners (Featured in G variant). *The F model had waist gunners lined up which was a constant problem for the gunners who kept bumping into one another.
- Increased visibility for tail gunner (Featured in G variant)
Since game designers often do just that, design games, getting the details right isn't exactly their specialty or priority which is where a historical adviser comes in but even he would not know every tiny detail. Still, this overlooked detail is a bit on the "really?" side. It seems that years later with COD WWII, attention to detail still isn't something they truly care about.
Thanks for the informative comment. What do you think of CoD WW2 historical accuracy?
@@huytungnguyen119well I know it’s better than vanguard.
I think that back then the software didn't alow them to focus on tiny details while these days they have the software but they lack the care to do that since people would buy it anyway and also those details would go unoticed anyway.
I didn't speak English back then, and didn't know what his mission was about until I mounted the dorsal turret and realized I was on a plane. My 10 years old self was like "Wow so cool"
64 german fighters shot down if it comes to the iron crosses, but that man destroyed more than 72.
And he didn't take Credit for that, just like any SF Personell back then
Just straight up Denies the awards and medals given by her majesty
My favourite UO level! I really like that you have to walk around the plane to get into other positions, not by just pressing 1234, not to mention the parts where you have to turn the valves and cut the fuel line! These little details make this game amazing! And the end where you literally get sucked out of the plane is fucking cool
The same Doyle as in Call of Duty 3!!! This mission is brilliant. Just like Memphis Belle.
It's good to see Doyle doing fine at least.
@@thevillagetroublemaker yeah, I’m glad to know where he’s at in life hahaha.
Chronologically this is the earliest mission in the classic WW2 CoDs!
This is why P51 mustangs were created
+Henry Hamilton The mustang was crap before it was fitted with a merlin engine
They have spitfires with them since they are british. 5:35
Aaron Cabot mmmnhm
2:48 Dios, that never gets easier to relive…
Messerschmits 12 o'clock high will forever be my favorite COD quote
Someone needs to seriously bug infinity ward to remake this game.
You'd have to purchase a $90 copy of CoD:Star Wars 3.14 to obtain the re-make.
Firefox is red, Explorer is blue. Google+ sucks and Chrome does too. If they did remaster THIS call of duty i wouldn't mind to pay 100+$ this is the best CoD ever made.
Remastered? YES!
Wy_ S_ I love call of duty air force mission and armored tank mission , air force mission music was so cool! i like them formation
Fuck yes this game needs a remaster
"You want some more Skipper?!"
"You got it"
3:25 i used to get goosebumps in my childhood.
One of the unforgettable mission in gaming...
Before the mission, Black Cats, there was this.
Lucky 13 in CoD roads to victory
Also Liberators in Cod2 Big red 1
I was a young boy when I played this game; CoD UO was and it is my favorite videogame ever! I love this mission. It is like the real life.
I remember this mission. Stunning. Absolutely stunning.
One of the best missions in cod history
Imagine if that dude was my rear gunner in WarThunder😂
Douglas MacArthur lol
I don't get it.
@@branex336
war thunder is an ww2 to 60's (they keep updating adding more modern stuff)
vehicle combat game in which you can fly bombers and the ai gunners are really bad
@@sam8742 ik what's war thunder but i rather play WoT
@@branex336
In warthunder you actually have to kill a tank by shooting it's components not just the tracks, there is a lot of people who prefer the realism, but one thing wargaming does better than gaijin (warthunder devs) is naval, look at some gameplay both have their advantages but warthuder is more complex and realistic, and the complexity adds depth which enhances the experience
This mission did actually happen, of the 19 bombers that departed on this raid: one came back.
Source? Haven't been able to find any reference to this specific mission.
@@davidpacheco9103Me neither.
This Mission and Pegasus Bridge were my two favourite missions.
The whole came really was spectacular. I haven't played the new content with the D-Day landings, but I will pick them up.
I just finished reading a book (A Bloody Dawn, Dan Harvey) and it had some incredible stories of it. Reminded me of this mission. Currently installing the game now to replay it 15 yrs after it came out!,
Remasters are not required. This game is incredible.
Probably the best mission in cod history
This level is underrated as hell!
If every B-17 gunner were that kind of deadly (shooting down more than 60 Bf 109s per mission) then who needs Mustangs?
(J4F)
Those are the forgotten CODs sadly.
grandfather of ramirez lmao
"That boy was nineteen years old"
Heartbreaking 💔💔💔
*skipper: well that is the flak i thought to be*
*more flak coming
*private: you wanted more skipper? you've got it!*
*peguins of madagascar*
Maan,.... dat screams after Bertie crashed left spot on my nerves.. old shooters really was cool
And this is now in garrysmod, even much more epic
i just found out that doyle in this game is the same guy from cod 3 in the british missions
I got to go inside a B-17 at an air show, and it is not nearly that spacious. It’s so cramped and tiny in there. I couldn’t imagine being at 25,000-30,000 ft in those things
It's spacious because it's on 4:3 Strecthed Resolutions u bitwit
My childhood game
Best mission EVAR
yes best mission
Evah*
Yeaj
British campaign missions on CoD 1 and CoD 2 are the best
They have so much character
Activision really needs to remaster CoD1, United Offensive, Big Red One and Cod 2! Imagine these games with today's graphics and new animations, they would look so epic!
Christ, I onky took down like only 41 fighters during this mission, you rock!
'only'
+Lajos Kelemen did you feel like a hero doing that?
Deniz Batu It was out of my control
I think my record was an exactly 64. But most of the times it was something like 51 planes on average
Why is this more immersive than modern games
This mission was fun but I could clearly see "Memphis Belle" references.
What a fighterace. Shooting whole german Luftwaffe with B17 Cal 30 down.
.50 BMG, B-17 hasn't .30 cal
@@antonkolb4185 Raf's B-17 had Browning machine guns.
If cod ww2 had this same mission it would look really cool
Brings back so many memories.
Back when graphics were not much realistic but the gameplay was
Back in 2004 this was pretty bloody realistic, until COD 2 came out the next year and blew our minds.
@@PointReflex Yeah, especially with the system they had in place in COD 2 where soldiers called out positions and each others names regardless of if they were important characters or not. Just the little things that make it that much more immersive.
Imagine raiding at night
This was made by Lancaster gang
Good record of defeated fighters 😯
My favorite mission back then
I loved this mission in cod. I thought if it was possible to add multiplayer campaign with this mission. Well i got this map in gmod. Im happy that at least this map can be played with friends.
The Fortress Mk1 had no tail gun, since this looks like a B17F, it'd be the the Fortress Mk2, the B17D was he one without the tailgun.
Old but gold
one of the fucking hardest missions on regular difficulty, recommended to save and reload
Missão épica , nunca me esqueci de quando passei ela na época do PS2 !
More secret missions involving the British and other countries.
This mission is one of my favorite on rails missions of all time in any game period, followed closely by TAKING OUT THOSE FFFFUCKING PT BOATS!!!
best mission they ever made, true ww2 feeling
British pilots testing a B-17 during daylight raids? I don't think so.
Considering the first B-17 flew in 1935 and was put into production as the B-17A almost immediately, by 1942 the B-17D was already in service in the United States Army Air Corps. If there is a tail gunner's position then this has to be at least a B-17E -- the first version which had that and which obviously was built after 1942, by which time the USAAC was already heavily involved in the war.
Enjoyable mission regardless. Call of Duty is great.
(I'm sorry I know this.)
I think that is the only problem of the mission but anyways it is a minor inaccuracie (the plane not being a exact fortress I). But Americans have B-17 to the RAF in 1941.
Plane crash at 2:43 and 18:38
10:18
Apparently a couple of Messerschmidt training squadrons filled with hydrogen fuel during that first attack.
I have Call of Duty 2 multiplayer and singleplayer my brother finished this game my big brother
My fav mission and really iconic
wow doyle is ini cod united offensive and cod 3
Wrong, not cpt. Doyle, ingram and James doyle
unforgettable mission
2:44 bail out you buffons!
I've been trying to find this game for ages. I used to play this mission all the time playing this on my dad's laptop as a little kid.
How did they found an artillery barrage BEFORE get into the continent? They flew over the entire German Navy?
Yes, yes they did.
Well done, good show🫡
So Doyle was probably captured by the enemy forces
In the next mission he finds a squad of dutch soldiers and bomb a train, afterwards being rescued from that place
@@theodorvalentinghita1779 Not only Dutch soldiers, led by Gerald Ingram, the legendary Major of British Army.
Best gameplay bro😊😊😊😊
You didn't use a mouse?
I loved that mission. The sounds of the engines are pretty realistic. Really cool. Would like to have a whole mission, from the beginning untill the end. Start, bombing and landing back in england. I would like to have missions with a B-17. One for Vienna, one for Frankfurt am Main and one for Berlin. And everytime should be 2 options, making it home or bail out and find your way through germany into siwtzerland. Oh and one mission with a B-24 for Ploeisti raid in Romania. Maybe replay the movie Memphis Belle. 2 missions with an british Avro Lancaster. One for Duisburg and one for Koblenz. And Replay the mission Damn Busters. One mission with a short Stirling for Cologne. And each airplane with origianl sound please! I bet this will never happen.
wait, they mentioned there flying a new american aircraft, and if by new they mean the A model b-17, then this is all wrong, since the tail gunner position wasn't added to the plane until the E model
Joshua Bayer yup, spot on
+Joshua Bayer eh, who cares.
+Matt Frazer Someone who cares about history, thats who
Joshua Bayer
And? The British hold their sten's SMGs by the magazine. The russians did not kill each other to the extent shown in the game, some of the other B-17s were shot down to easily, one man in the first game is able to take on a dam full of Germans ON HIS OWN.. Pavlov's house, which lasted a few months, lasted a few minutes in game...
+Joshua Bayer Well they could of had it fitted with tail guns. Its like arming the planes to them. They can change its systems for different missions.
Dude, i wanna cry when i play this mission with my freind at Veteran Difficulty
The British accent is killing me or Scottish?
Imagine if you had to deal with rocket-armed Me-110's.
I'm guessing the date would've been too inaccurate.
5:30 lol
Ahmad YFH war thunder "KILL STELLER"
02:30 They are above the Channel. So who is shooting at them?
Wykletypl could be long range coast guns
Probably their own navy happened at Sicily it's very common
Other Doge so you think the navy didn't know they had b17s and confused them with focke wulf condors?
No they reached holland after they were above then they reached land.
flakschiffe der kriegsmarine, anti aircraft ships
ESTÁ ES MISIÓN FAVORITA DE COD UO
2024 y aún veo esta mision tan buena ❤

10:50, quad kill

For me everytime like, Doyal its friendly fire, friendly fire i repeat agin😛
Need to play this on VR
This mission might have given me PTSD lol
Nothing can beat the Horton Ho 229
You know, Alan.
You should try 007 games.
If you want.
2:50
Damn, the spanish version didn't had those screams
This mission gave me PTSD ngl
What is the difficult do you play?
ÉSTA MISIÓN ES ÉPICA Y ASOMBROSA
Yes
Remembwr thar forgotten Disney movie Valiant? You know the one with the pigeons from the WW2 era.
You should be called 'Stukas Slayer'!
Nitfluad They were BF109's, not Stukas.
Interesting nickname given to the bombers and fighters though. Sounds badass and intimidating!
how do i get to play this game in 1080p, i got the game but it doesn't have the option for 1080
I think you need a program called Widescreen Fixer. I use it to fix my fov on Halo Combat Evovled and I think there was a setting for COD: UO
Jackson Pretto I know this is late but for anyone still interested, it’s pretty easy if you edit one of the config files with notepad or notepad++ Look up call of duty on the pc gaming wiki and it will tell you what to change.
They get shot down in the end :)
those were spitfires not BF109S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was an RAF fighter escort for the first part of the mission...
