Mentality is everything which man or women have so often forgotten in recent century.
Every women I have spoken to simply don't belief me that women can scare most men with a little dedication & routine in training while retaining beauty.
I like to show women tapestries & art work of women from medieval Europe wearing full plate armour in a dress wielding pole arms from the middle ages Europe as even if not common it was not rare.
Dedication & an indominable human spirit is an imposing when demonstrated.

It really is extremely sad... To essentially voluntarily make your kids orphans. And a part I left out of the video is that Joan's mum later got back in touch with her once she became famous to try and get some money out of her. When Joan refused, her mum started writing to the press to try and discredit her. Such a terrible woman...

In my opinion: It can be. But not as bad as you might think. So many boys just have a mother & never become men. Oftentimes they look for a single mother with girlfriend benefits.
I knew a girl who never met her father & didn't care because so many people loved her enough it didn't matter.
You can't pick your family, but you can pick your company of friends. After a while, you don't think so much about it so long as you don't have sex until you are married.
That's where post modernist fail & never become successful outside their constant attachment issues always seeking validation.
In her time people worked until they made it. Talent was G-d given & once you found where it was, nothing could stop you.
Virtue went a long way in a prosperous life. She probably didn't need her parents as much as you'd think. People were ordinary people then & worked hard for everything as welfare didn't come as easily as it does now a days.
Hardly anyone went to college & bettered themselves at whatever they where doing until they were on top of their game. Nothing like today with its socialist education entitlement with media fashion & sexualization of the youth. Fornication was a slide to destitute as it still is day, but they new it clear & well.
Hardly anyone had an STD unless you were hanging around the migrant field hands or low end dive bars that consist of blue collar laborers & lazy bums. Now 1 in 5 has Herpies. So sad. You didn't have to go to church to have class or virtue & now the people who do have none of that even though.
All you needed was a job & life happened when you stayed true to yourself without compromising your self respect.
It's simply amazing how they did it then. No class & all ass today.

So proud of her for doing what she had to do to survive and excel. Women in 2024 should take a lesson from her. I am very proud for her. There is a 'trick' for tearing phone books. You put them in an oven and bake them for a while to dry out. You then just have to break the spine and tearing is easy. In this video you can see Joan clearly breaking the spines before starting to tear them, with a lot of 'dramatic' effort. Even if they are not baked the technique is the same. My Grandfather was a stage magician and I inherited a lot of his books and the phonebook tearing trick is mentioned in one of them.

Joan definitely has an inspiring story.
The amount of time and commitment she put into developing her act and that she successfully made it off the streets and into films and television is really incredible.
Ironically, I think that the fact that she was constantly underestimated due to her appearance went in her favour - as so much of how she landed those early television and film roles involved her demonstrating her physical strength directly on men who made assumptions based on her appearance.
