Love the video! Jaby and Achara, if y'all are looking for more games to react to, I highly recommend the Telltale games. Walking Dead game usually is the popular one but I think you both would enjoy something with a tighter story such as Batman: Telltale, or Wolf Among Us which is a mystery story that has all the Fables from folklore stories in one town with the Big Bad Wolf as the detective. Pretty good stuff. Keep up the good work.
Does anyone else remember hearing about that project manager from Disney who said they hate when directors and other members of projects when they care about the source material?
To be fair, Iron Man 3 did establish that you can kill someone with Extremis by blasting a hole through their chest, since Iron Man did the same thing to someone during the Air Force One scene. Doesn't make it make more sense, but it is internally consistent. That's the only thing I'll defend though.
Now, scenarios: Fury has been outside the planet since endgame, and in the entire show it's called out that he actually has no idea how things are moving on earth because he's too focused on creating defenses in orbit for alien invasions. The avengers are gone, like, gone GONE. And in any show has been mentioned that nobody is even trying to put together a new team. Specially because all the problems that the avengers had with global leaders in the past, where they basically did whatever the f they wanted. And also because they've illegally experimented with something that could rip apart universes, exposing earth to a new Thanos. Shield is also long gone (so Fury is not director anymore) and now there's sword, which was directed by a corrupted guy (potentially skrull) who also prevented Monica to go into space with Fury. In 'far from home' Thalos is the one who interacted with spiderman (and even if it was Fury,he wouldn't even remember who Peter is.) Neither Thor or the Asgardians ever answered to him. The thunderbolts are a clandestine group assembled by Val (who could easily be also an Skrull) There's also damage control, potentially a skrull organisation as well. Nobody knows about the eternals. Hulk is potentially out of the planet. Kamala is a teenager... White vision is probably just reactivated (if he is active, because 'WV' happened during 'FFH',and Fury received the call in the end, this probably happened while everyone was losing awareness of Peter) The only time in the entire MCU that Fury came into battle with reinforcements has been in 'age of Ultron' where he brought war machine... Yeah... He actually tried to call for his assistance, and he ended up being Skrull. So no, there's no one Fury could've actually called for the Skrulls but Gaia (who was already directly involved) WWIII is not even an excuse to call Carol neither, because WWIII could literally start any day for any reason. Imagine! "Hey Carol! Yeah,is me again! Look... So,the new president twitted something this morning... You might want to check it out."😂😂 And also calling other superheroes when you know that they could be easily replaced (if they're not already) About Gaia being the "strongest" is debatable. Neither she or gravick utilized the powers for too long. When she put gravick to sleep he woke up almost immediately... I totally see that there might be a lot of limitations on that, specially trying to keep up with a body that is using multiple types of anatomies... The thing is that all the answers for the questions that the internet had, were presented in previous projects. And people shouldn't being expecting any avengers level type of action in phase 4, because it is meant to be the same that phase 1. Mostly introduction of characters & contexts are meant to be shown. At least until 'the marvel's' which is literally the first teaming up of heroes since 'end game'. (Finally colliding the stories)
I didn’t like the show and I don’t like what they did with Maria but I haven’t seen anyone consider the possibility that Cobie Smulders was basically done with Marvel and didn’t want to do an entire tv show. Maybe marvel asked how she felt and they had ideas of killing her and she said she wanted to wrap up asap. I’m not saying it’s even likely but she’s been doing Marvel forever, and maybe wants to stop like a lot of the phase one actors do.
With the significant changes made to the Skrulls in the MCU, it's no surprise the narrative of Secret Invasion struggled to succeed. The transformation of an Interstellar Galactic Empire into sympathetic refugees undermines the tension, spy thriller elements, and even alters the character of Nick Fury. The comics, however, offered compelling reasons for Fury's hesitance to immediately call the Avengers. Following the discovery of a Skrull posing as a deceased superhero, a pivotal member of Fury's inner circle, Mockingbird, was exposed as a Skrull spy. Mockingbird's betrayal deeply shook Fury, a character known for his deep mistrust and Batman-level paranoia. This created an intricate web of suspense and tension, as the readers and characters grappled with the uncertainty of whom to trust. Such intricate buildup was lacking in the MCU adaptation ( which has this video pointed out, is worsened because the show kept revealing who the Skrulls were the second they came on screen). The comics' storylines cleverly intertwined with the Illuminati's capture, leading to the Skrulls' thorough knowledge of how to infiltrate and avoid various forms of protection. This level of complexity was notably absent in the TV show. Furthermore, the comics' revelation that the Skrulls influenced events like the Superhuman Civil War, the superhero registration Act, and the mutant Massacre (less so in this one) added depth and impact to they're intentional level of preparedness for everything that was to come. They were not refugees who got tired of being overlooked by A system that didn't care, they were conquering Invaders who, at the behest of their politicians, religious leaders, and desire for their specific cultural advancement, had no problem taking over what they perceive to be a world ruled by inferior creatures who can just be swatted out of the way. Overall, the significant deviations in character motivations, tension-building, and narrative intricacies contributed to the underwhelming adaptation of Secret Invasion in the MCU.
But Nick Fury explains that he can't call the Avengers because they might be impersonated and framed as terrorists. So it makes complete sense if we assume Nick has gone so senile he's forgotten that the Skrulls' shape shifting has nothing to do with proximity and they could already copy them if they wanted to.
to be fair they did show in IronMan 3 that you can kill a person with extrimis in them if u shot them thru the chest...Tony did that to the guy on the plane
This should have been a movie. They could have just given us subtle hints through phase 4&5 like they gave for Thanos and then ab Avengers secret wars movie
Concerning how Gravik died. Remember that is exactly how the guy who had extremism powers was killed by Tony Stark on Air Force one in Iron Man three. He shot a pulsar blast through the man’s midsection. So basically they did have precedence.
I kept expecting a third act twist as a dramatic reveal: Gravis, "You think we Skrulls are rebelling because you failed to find us a habitable world, Fury? No. You found one, many in fact, but CHOOSE not to tell us and forfeit your leash. Humanity will suffer because of your betrayal!"
Dare I say, ScreenCrush has a great take on how the Secret Invasion storyline could have been handled. Makes one weep for what we might have gotten had we still been in the golden age of the MCU.
I think that Spider-Man: Far from Home was a better Secret Invasiom Story than Secret Invasion. We don't figure out that Maria Hill and Nick Fury was switched out with skrulls until the very very end of the film. And also they also put some very small hits you could easily overlook. That's something I would have wanted out of the show.
_How are magic rings a part of someone's DNA?_ 7:35 We don't care anymore and stopped trying. I will retire and Bog Iger will sell Disney anyway, so.... - Kevin Feige.
For me, the popular No Way Home - which got good reviews and made 2 billon was the worst thing to happen to the MCU. Because that film abandoned storytelling logic and character continuity in favor of fan service- and got away with it. That’s because SpiderMan has so many fans regardless of how bad the movie is. For example in that film Peter Parker ‘defeated’ Dr. Strange - even though just a few scenes earlier Strange instantly captured Lizard and Octavius by sling ringing him into his dungeon. The film just has Strange absolutely fail and refuse to use his most obvious powers just to make Parker ‘win’. Now you have to realize every director wants to know - why I can’t I just have bullshit happen for ‘reasons’ just like No Way Home.
There was a western tv show in the 50s/60s called Wagontrain. Gene Roddenberry piched Star Trek as Wagontrain to the Stars. So, 4 words down to 3 in 60 odd years isn't bad, I guess.
6:20 that's the key issue, marvel has exhausted their thinking power of world building and creating cinematic real life threat. take for example, last of us show. we don't see anything but an old 80s interview and just in 2 lines we were terrified. good writing leads the story better in navigating entire plot.
It wasn't a budget constraint, since as mentioned, it was over $210 million dollars. As comparison, Top Gun: Maverick had a budget of $170 million dollars, Oppenheimer $100 million dollars, and Spider-Man: No Way Home $200 million dollars. As bad as it is to bring G'iah into future MCU projects, equally, or even worse, is not ever mentioning her again. In interviews he’s said his intention was to change fury in these 6 contained episodes and send him back up in space for the marvels for the sake of continuity, ultimately it should’ve been a fury show. No, the rings are not part of Ebony Maw's DNA, but they replicate the superpowers and "appearance" of their owner. Whereas it is clear that when Gravik changes his hand to Abomination, his one ear changes as well. When he changes one leg to the Hulk,, he has his purple shorts (partially, not completely). So I'd like to give more credit to Marvel for this than to keep blaming on him like this. As you can see, it's more thought than the fans would think.

What if the Skrulls what? What if the Skrulls impersonate the Avengers? There's nothing stopping them from doing that anyway. The Avengers are public figures, they already know what they look like.
they could've given gravik those weird "powers" like the compound v rejects at the red river compound (from the boys). but the reaction has me thinking now that skrulls of the soldier class could only pick the forms of living humans (but only if they were captured and locked up in those bed contraptions) or the forms of dead humans (like gravik and vara chose). has you wondering how nick fury's volunteers at the start just went and changed shape to whatever human they were thinking about at the time. anyway, trying to take a ff4 villain and making them nick fury's nemesis was a tragic mistake. maybe they'll just write it off as some bad dream fury had on the saber station.

I have been told that the Secret Incvasion comics were great and everything was on a much bigger scale with tons of heroes and Avengers involved and the Scrolls actually using the shapeshifting to their advantsage, so it's even sadder when you know what the show could (or should) have been.
To be fair , the comics version with so many characters was always unattainable for a Disney Plus show ....... But even with the characters they had , they could have done so much more if they had a decent storyline
It would've been epic to bring in Sam as Captain America. He's the main Avenger now and could be like the first "Tony Stark post credit scene" from Phase 1. To represent the beginning of the new Avengers. G'iah with powers was dumb. Make it Sam, Nick, and Giah (no powers) vs the Super Skrull in a big final fight. Idk it would've been better than what we got imo

In the end i already said before WandaVision went life that im looking forward to Wanda and Loki, but Falcon and Wintersoldier and Warmachine and that crap doesn't really interest me at all.
As far as we know only Doctor Strange knew magic during Endgame, remember Wanda got her powers by some scientific research on her using infinity stones and she was not aware of her magical ability during Endgame. So that means Ebony Maw has very advanced telekinesis power.

This is one of my new favorite Pitch meeting!
I love how this pitch meeting does such a great job of beginning to scratch the surface of all the problems with this show.
Does anyone else remember hearing about that project manager from Disney who said they hate when directors and other members of projects when they care about the source material?
Instantly answered my prayers
To be fair, Iron Man 3 did establish that you can kill someone with Extremis by blasting a hole through their chest, since Iron Man did the same thing to someone during the Air Force One scene. Doesn't make it make more sense, but it is internally consistent. That's the only thing I'll defend though.
True, but in Iron Man 3, the blast was big and directly targeted at the heart area. In Secret Invasion, it looked like a small hole in the stomach
I guess she saw Iron Man 3 and he didn't.
i was waiting for this 😂
As were we all! 😊
“Hey shut up!” - Ryan George
The budget was more than twice that of Oppenheimer. 212 million dollars.
Now, scenarios:
Fury has been outside the planet since endgame, and in the entire show it's called out that he actually has no idea how things are moving on earth because he's too focused on creating defenses in orbit for alien invasions.
The avengers are gone,like,gone GONE.
In 'far from home' Thalos is the one who interacted with spiderman (and even if it was Fury,he wouldn't even remember who Peter is.)
Neither Thor or the Asgardians ever answered to him.
The thunderbolts are a clandestine group assembled by Val (who could easily be also an Skrull)
There's also damage control, potentially a skrull organisation as well.
Nobody knows about the eternals.
Hulk is potentially out of the planet.
Kamala is a teenager...
White vision is probably just reactivated (if he is active, because 'WV' happened during 'FFH',and Fury received the call in the end, this probably happened while everyone was losing awareness of Peter)
The only time in the entire MCU that Fury came into battle with reinforcements has been in 'age of Ultron' where he brought war machine... Yeah... He actually tried to call for his assistance, and he ended up being Skrull.
So no, there's no one Fury could've actually called for the Skrulls but Gaia (who was already directly involved)
WWIII is not even an excuse to call Carol neither, because WWIII could literally start any day for any reason.
Imagine! "Hey Carol! Yeah,is me again! Look... So,the new president twitted something this morning... You might want to check it out."😂😂
And also calling other superheroes when you know that they could be easily replaced (if they're not already)
About Gaia being the "strongest" is debatable.
Secret invasion without the Avengers was like French toast without the bread.
Or biriyani without rice.
Or vegan burgers. LOL
The integral part is missing!
Peacemaker had better invasion than secret invasion 😅(butterflies taking identity of people)
Now you just convinced me to watch Peacemaker. I almost forgot about that one. 😁
I was also concerned that ALL of the heroes DNA was mixed together in a one-size-fits-all soup.
And villains too.
Will you guys do the Hones Trailer on Secret Invasion as well? They have some funny stuff to say too
7:52 I mean, when Iron man killed an extremist guy on a plane, he blew a hole through his chest and that did the trick
So basically they did have precedence.
extremism 💀
I kept expecting a third act twist as a dramatic reveal:
Gravis, "You think we Skrulls are rebelling because you failed to find us a habitable world, Fury? No. You found one, many in fact, but CHOOSE not to tell us and forfeit your leash. Humanity will suffer because of your betrayal!"
Right when final battle begin gravik and giah, i was like how is this fight going to end? And just like he just died
I don't wanna hear about budget excuses! It's FN DISNEY!
_How are magic rings a part of someone's DNA?_ 7:35
We don't care anymore and stopped trying.
My favorite people on UA-cam 🎉
I’m surprised he didn’t make a meta skrull joke about how the executive and the writer both have the same face.
I loved this one more than Honest Trailers even though bot are good.
To be fair on one point, iron man killed the main extremis henchman on Air Force One by blowing a hole in this chest too, removing his heart.
You know, sorta like that giant marble-made Celestial that is in the middle of the ocean.

14) No Mention Of That Really Cool Surprise Gravic Pulled On Talos Being Spoiled In The Trailer
15) No Clever Twist Where One Of The Ryan Georgre's Is Actually A Skroll Hired By DC To Tank The MCU

@@summertyme5748 I listed that in here
@@westwardmedia9375 Did you intentionally called Fury, Furry? lol.
@@blessanabey8386 I was wondering that 😅
To play Devil's advocate here, blowing a hole through the chest of someone with Extremis's healing powers is exactly how Tony kills someone in Iron Man 3. So, they had already established that that works.
Except they supposedly have other powers like Groot, who would simply regrow, or Thanos and Hulk with invulnerable skin.
@@summertyme5748 Just saying there's precedence.
the excuse its not in the budget mean nothing when the theorized cost of the show is over 200 million
$200 million plus budget? I don't think budget was the issue.

Jaby has understood that steph is not the right person to watch pitch meetings. Achara supremacy
I don’t know why they got Ali selim to direct all six episodes, he never saw anything mcu nor the comics. In interviews he’s said his intention was to change fury in these 6 contained episodes and send him back up in space for the marvels for the sake of continuity, ultimately it should’ve been a fury show. The title secret invasion holds a lot of history and expectations, could’ve easily been a set up for an avengers film
Feige is just finding random no talent hacks who don't cost a lot. I don't think he cares anymore. He'll probably cash out soon.
Now we got Sonya, a better Nick Fury because they wanted to change him, kinda sad.
Plot was like X-men First Class
I have a feeling that there won't be a season 2 for Secret Invasion.
Good observation. Still a terrible show with a terrible plot.
@@vincentallen1318 The number of people who didn't like the series is a very ridiculous and low number. The series was great, but you obviously had high expectations. But, whatever. Not everyone can be happy with everything.
What if the Skrulls what? What if the Skrulls impersonate the Avengers? There's nothing stopping them from doing that anyway. The Avengers are public figures, they already know what they look like.
Yes. How did he verify the DNA, what did he compare the DNA in the vile against?
Gotta love fact they had enough resources and manpower to build a DNA machine but not a spaceship.
they could've given gravik those weird "powers" like the compound v rejects at the red river compound (from the boys). but the reaction has me thinking now that skrulls of the soldier class could only pick the forms of living humans (but only if they were captured and locked up in those bed contraptions) or the forms of dead humans (like gravik and vara chose). has you wondering how nick fury's volunteers at the start just went and changed shape to whatever human they were thinking about at the time. anyway, trying to take a ff4 villain and making them nick fury's nemesis was a tragic mistake. maybe they'll just write it off as some bad dream fury had on the saber station.
Or just make it so that you can HAVE all the powers... but you burn yourself out in 19 hours. For a fanatic that wouldn't matter as in that time he could raze the world like he wants... and it makes the sacrifice of his opponent more poignant.
I have been told that the Secret Incvasion comics were great and everything was on a much bigger scale with tons of heroes and Avengers involved and the Scrolls actually using the shapeshifting to their advantsage, so it's even sadder when you know what the show could (or should) have been.
Well it's been that way since Ragnorak. Totally underwhelming.
To be fair , the comics version with so many characters was always unattainable for a Disney Plus show ....... But even with the characters they had , they could have done so much more if they had a decent storyline
They definitely were not fair to Cobie for this. Fun fact: I went to school with her. Nice girl, down to earth.
I think it's impossible to write something worse than the vomit we got,
The first Marvel Show i decided not to watch after it took me 4 days just to finish the first episode.
I mean, i also don't watch spy movies anymore since Roger Moore was James Bond, and when i watch Marvel i want Superheroes and not some spy or military stuff. In the end i already said before WandaVision went life that im looking forward to Wanda and Loki, but Falcon and Wintersoldier and Warmachine and that crap doesn't really interest me at all.
6:42 jaby u should watch avengers endgame
Something similar to this happened in that movie
I imagine the original script was the source materials. Can’t have that.
In the Marvels the skulls had a planet, sooooo …???? Who the heck knows who the continuity coordinator is anymore
You should Dracula Untold if you have not watched it.
Jaby was ... "N. Fury-ated" ... by questions.
I guess if you punch somebody's heart out, death would occur? Healing powers or not.
Just spitballing.
I read the budget was $212 millions, So I dont think budget was any issue.
I didn't know Ebony Maw was magic. I thought he just had telekinesis.
True
As far as we know only Doctor Strange knew magic during Endgame, remember Wanda got her powers by some scientific research on her using infinity stones and she was not aware of her magical ability during Endgame. So that means Ebony Maw has very advanced telekinesis power.
@@sathishb-bs7do I'm pretty sure the idea is the mindstone just unlocked Scarlet Witch's potential. Not sure how it gave Quicksilver super speed though. I don't even know who Magneto's dna would give him super speed. That's a physical power and he has an elemental power.
Marvel really botched the secret invasion comics story
i know some of the reshoots were to remove a plot line about Russia and Ukraine as the war started
I thought it would have been better if he got overcharged with too many powers and exploded. Then, say that four is the limit setting up the Superskrull for the Fantastic Four
Crazy isnt it? Mysterio comes - Nick calls Peter. Ww3 coming - he calls no avenger
They should have just brought in the Russo brothers, considering their experience with winter soldier, which is possible the best spy thriller Marvel movie.
🤔... How many of the original avengers are left? Falcon, winter soldier, Dr strange but he went to the dark dimension. Spiderman.... Thor? But is he even on earth? I honestly don't remember his last film anymore. Then there's captain marvel who should be powerful enough to do everything herself but is seemingly absent from everything 😂
This could've been a better Avengers movies instead of a show but with better writing and storyline like in the comics.
200mil, budget limitations? Where? Where sir , where?
the director of this show doesn't know a damn thing to direct this, Marvel needs to tell directors and writers to see each and every marvel movie so that we can have proper sense making movie and series and have continuity
the original script was classic great marvel. then they ran it through the M SHE U AI filter and well... you got that garbage. SISSY NICK FURY BEGGING A ALIEN TO GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE . A ALL POWERFUL MARY SUE WHO INSTANTLY KNOWS HOW TO USE EVERY POWER. CLASSING M SHE U.
Others might need to accept that the MCU died a long time ago. If they didn’t rush things by promoting their next projects left and right, then perhaps they still would have kept going in a far better direction.
The budget was 212 million dollars 😊
Achara, are you in anti-phishing corporate training videos by any chance? I could have sworn I saw you in one the other day

I don’t think it Nick Fury fault that he can’t call the avengers, it the producers/Disney,, the budget won’t allow it, just how x-men wasn’t in Deadpool 1

6:20 ya I just realized where the hell was Captain American (Falcon) in all this?? The President of the US is literally in danger and of all the heroes, Captain America is unavailable?? What about Hawkeye? This show just felt out of place in the MCU, if the stakes are that big and no heroes are involved at all esp with this revolving around Nick Fury.
