- Olympic gold medal winning track star Sydney McLaughlin chatted with Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans about winning the 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Games as well as making a world record while competing. She also talks about how important her faith is to her as well as her family.

@@davidzly She has my admiration but having a movie made is something done after one has experienced the trials and tribulations of a lifetime. A movie based on the life of Aretha Franklin is more appropriate. A documentary on Sydney where she plays herself maybe but a movie?? For crying out loud, she’s a kid.
Other good examples of movies based on athletes: Pele, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Kobe, US women’s gymnastics from past to present, Tonya Harding, John McEnroe, Usain Bolt and many others.
Great for Sydney, hope you'll interview Athing Mu because she's 19 in the first Olympics and she has a gold. She will be the queen of middle distance for sure.

Sydney is such a sweet girl. Shes so humble and kind, and funny too. I love how she gives all the glory to God, and says that her number one goal in her life is her relationship with God!! And she even quotes Proverbs 27:17 by saying iron sharpens iron!!!

To everyone that's talking negatively about the interviewer, He's not flirty, he's not creepy, he's not awkward. This is journalism today. It's called conversational. You have a conversation with the one that you are interviewing. You don't sit there like Barbara Walters did 20 years ago with a Stern face and ask questions. Long gone are those days.
He is awkward. The interviewer should not speak more than the one being interviewed and not inject their ideas and opinions looking for agreement from the person being interviewed. It's not about him.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit awkward too. I think he was more interested in getting his thoughts expressed versus letting her share her thoughts/experiences. I would have loved to hear more from her versus him boast about her the entire time. She kept bringing it back to staying grounded, focused, and honoring God. Incredible young woman!

@@asam3054 It's Access Hollywood, basically tabloid journalism like E.T., where the journalists are just as much the celebrities as the celebrities themselves. Celebrities like that "conversational" style because it puts them at ease and not feel like they are being probed. This is why they like going on these shows to promote themselves.
Love the Godliness & humble spirit, not following the example of the world. She don't look at herself as an icon but just wanna set a good example, now that's how it supposed to be. She's beautiful inside & out & fast on the track; breaking records with ease. Hope her boyfriend become a pastor & spread the Word of God & you get into ministry yourself; this is what the world needs.

The relationship between Sydney and Delilah is a very unique and beautiful one in modern sport. They are fellow competitors with mutual respect for each other. They don't perceive themselves as rivals, opponents, combatants. They are there to uplift each other. Sydney set a new WR on 26 June 2021 at 51.90. At Tokyo, both ran under this "new" record: Sydney 51.46 and Dalilah 51.58. That race was a spectacle. Kudos to both of them. We hope more of these will come in the future.
Dalilah sets the WR at US Trials in 2019:
52.34 --> 52.20
Then, at the World Championships in Doha about three months later, Syd also broke the old WR, running 52.23. She was barely a senior competitor. Even though she didn't break the 52.20 that Dalilah had just set, they still both broke a 16-year-old record within about 3 months of each other.
Dalilah hit us with a 52.16, though.
After COVID happened, they hit us with another two-piece at the Trials and another global championship -- this time, the Olympics.
What an amazing woman. Wouldn't even name a celebrity crush over her boyfriend.

He’s got to be one of my favorite reporters! He is so great at interview. He naturally has the conversation style of speaking and not to many people have that!
I remember him fondly as a reporter on Channel One years ago. No doubt that he’d move on to larger forums in the future!
She obviously is not into celebrity culture. She has too much going on with winning Gold, giving glory to God and investing in her relationship with her boyfriend. It is refreshing to see someone who is not wooed by the spotlight but understands the importance of staying grounded in Christ and being loyal to the people who have been with you before fame. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30.
